  1. I went through 3 models of the Premier and HATED THEM! For some reason the bearings screamed when casting, someone on the forum said it was normal and I also noticed that on a *** video. So I sold it after returning back to the factory 2x for said reason. Bought, a Skeet Reese model for a great price and bent the knob handle on a hook-set > , nevertheless it was replaced by Abu under warranty. The replacement they sent me is a great reel so far and doesn't let out a high pitched scream when flinging my frog , it has no magnetic brakes so that may be a reason many people like the S model and not the others.
  2. I voted foam, for practical reasons. I really love my cumara's foam grip and the high density eva stuff on JDM rods. Lastly, did you ever consider the golf grip type handle used by American Rodsmiths? Held a rod with it at iCast and loved it.
  3. How would you like to fly into this Airport on a regular basis? WOW!
  4. I called Bob's Machine Shop and spoke with a tech there by the name of Robert and he informed me that there is retro fit kit that has been in production for pre 2007 models, basically its a stop that prevents it from dropping to much, therefore there is NO RECALL! Call the tech line and ask if your model jack plate is eligible for the retro fit kit, be prepared with the serial number. (813) 247-7040
  5. Congrats Peter! Finally, you caught a monster Peacock in your back yard, I remember you posting a while back with that actually looked like a nice speckled peacock (Cichla temensis). Anyway, glad to hear your little oasis is generating some monsters! Check your voicemail!
  6. Duck hunting has been pretty good this year in S. Florida, harvested a good variety of ducks this morning, Fulvous Tree, Teal, Mottled, and Ring Necks ;D How is duck hunting in your neck of the woods? Post your pics!
  7. I don't think he argued that it was unethical, just that it didn't seem like fair chase. Anyway, if you have watched his shows for more than a couple of season you would understand that he only takes shots that are ethical and uses primitive arrow heads only when it is viable.
  8. I run a Bob's Jack Plate on both of my boats , can you confirm where the recall information is?
  9. Quote from Bobby Bowden about Meyer It's a surprise to everybody. I hope he's OK physically because he's done as great a job at the University of Florida as has been done there, or anywhere else. I admire the way he handles himself and I really like his family. The college coaching profession will really miss him. What he really meant was "Gosh darn it, I should have stayed coaching 1 more year so I could spear some Gator Tail!" Nevertheless, it is a total SURPRISE, that he is leaving, maybe old grumpy Steve will come back to the delight of the Gator nation! GO, Noles!
  10. One word for you, SNOOK! Trust me on this one , think bass tackle and presentations.
  11. Own a record for my Snook/Tarpon rod and it is one tough, long casting reel. Haven't had any issues at all and have owned it since Records first came out.
  12. have an 844 and cumara and like my cumara better
  13. Just got back from watching it with wife. Plot was simple and the political overtones of some liberal writer (s) were cheesy to a fault (think green and friendly religious fanatics), but and its one big BUT.......its the most visually stunning movie ever, I felt a bit overwhelmed at times trying to capture all the visual effects. Need to watch it in 3D, there is no other way to really appreciate it at its fullest.

  15. Do it all the time when duck hunting the storm treatment areas around S. Florida or fishing hard to reach canals. I load the stern end first and the bow sticks out pointing away from my cab. I use 3 ratchet straps. Two ratchet straps connect the bow handle to the back securing post on either side of my truck bed, make sure you come across the top and not the bottom of the boat since you don't want to apply downward pressure thus lifting the stern up and possibly having the boat down bow first out of the back of your truck! The 3rd strap goes across the top of the stern from one side securing post to the other, I tighten it down really to prevent my 14' jon boat from bouncing. It also helps to pack the stern and middle of your boat with the heavy items (battery, trolling motor, etc and keep the bow end empty or very lightly loaded.) Make sure you secure all loose and light items and put a orange or red flag on the bow if it sticks out more than X amount of feet, check you state motor vehicle laws.
  16. Dude, you got a great boat at an even better price. Don't you love it when people take care of their stuff and sell it?
  17. Can give you an exact answer, but according to the provide links here is what I found: "At present, the taxonomy of the Mayan cichlid exists in something of a state of flux, as the evolutionary relationships of many cichlids remain poorly understood. Recently proposed combinations for the Mayan cichlid include but are not limited to, Herichthys urophthalmus, Parapetenia urophthalma, and Astrontous urophthalmus. Nandopsis urophthalma, is currently accepted as valid by some authors." In my opinion scientific names are a crap shoot at times, but until some university starts genetic testing of "cichlids" to reclassify them accordingly its more of an art than a science.
  18. I worked in the tropical fish importing business for about 2 years and was an active hobbyist (really a specialist in Discus) and I have been catching Oscars and Mayans for many years now in S. Florida and even though you have posted low quality pictures I can absolutely be certain that the they are pictures of................drum roll please....... Astronotus ocellatus not Cichlasoma urophthalmu. The most apparent give aways along with the points Thai mentioned previously is the red outline of the "fake eye or dot" also referred to as an ocelli, plural for fake eye. These fake eyes are theorized to help evade predation and/or help predators when pursuing prey. 19. Duck hunting this year has been pretty good. I ended up with 1 mottled duck, 1 ringer and 3 teal. My partners did about as good also. Sunday morning they went out and did great out of J&S fish camp. Problem is that water level is a bit high so you have to be careful.
  20. Was watching Tred Barta on my DVR today and was shocked to find out he had a "spinal stroke," now he is paralyzed from the waist down, but the guy is a trooper and not letting his paralysis get the best of him.
  21. I wonder if Fox broke the news that CNN messed up?
  22. Hope RobbyZ5001 sees this thread maybe he will trade in his Glock for a Sig now . My Sig P226 is one sweet gun though. Enjoy!
  23. My Star Wars and Star Trek geek buddy said it was the BEST movie he has ever seen! The guy is an admitted geek and coming from him even my wife and I have scheduled a babysitter this week so we can go see it in 3D, now lets see how readily available tickets are.
  24. Glades, Did you bring your wetsuit and surfboard to the Lake this past weekend? I was out duck hunting and the outside looked rough.
  25. I do, but Tiger Woods doesn't. Sorry guys I couldn't resist.
