No, Rio shells are manufactured in Spain, supposedly they are good quality shells with plastic piston wads.

For all you shotgunners
Anyone every have their brass detach from the plastic hull when cycling? I have been shooting Rio Field Loads through my Benelli M2 20 gauge and have had 3-4 episodes where the actual brass detaches from the hull. Upon ejection the brass gets caught jamming my gun as it cycles or last weekend on the dove field the brass was ejected but the plastic hull was left in the chamber, thank God the hull in the chamber prevented the next round from loading. I am wondering if my extractor is being a bit rough on the shells tearing the brass from the hull or if I have a bad batch of Rio Shells. I haven't experienced it with Federal, Remingtons, or Estate Cartridges, but I mostly shoot Rio ammo since I bought a bunch of flats 3 years ago. By the way its a very clean detachment the hull looks perfect and the brass is not dented or crushed, except if caught in the action upon cycling. Any ideas or input appreciated.

Silly Marathon FL.? I'm sure. But remain optimistic.
You can catch bass, but its a run up to Florida City and fish canals bordering the Everglades. If you can fish the bridges at night for Tarpon, especially during a change of tide.

Brett's Personal Best
Went out yesterday with my buddy, Brett, to Goodwin and had a great outing. We ended up with 26 total bass landed, we missed about another 10 that we hooked, but came unbuttoned. I had a monster on that we estimated at about 6lbs throw my swimbait right at the boat. The best part though is that Brett landed an 8lb. 10 oz monster, a PB! She hit a Rapala Rattlin Rap as he brought it over a weedy roadbed. At first he thought it was weeds since it felt spongy but she did not want any part of it and gave him a few good runs. Bertha measured 26" long and had a girth of 15' Needless, to say we were both excited as heck and were grinning from ear to ear the rest of the day.

Flu Shot
I had the Swine Flu! Got it after the first Dolphin preseason football game, wiped me out, needless to say I won't be getting the vaccine. My wife will though since she works in an outpatient clinic and is exposed to many sick people!

Big "O" Trip
Hmmm, interesting point! From what I gathered from the Florida Administrative Code: Regulations about transporting fish are found in 68A-4.005, 68A-23.008 and 68A-23.009. (a) Holders of valid fishing licenses or persons exempt from such licenses may transport their legal possession limit. So as long as my fish are legal in size and quantity I can transport them. It is illegal though to transport non-native species and release them into state waters. 68A-4.005 (1) No person shall release or introduce in the state any wildlife, freshwater fish or any other organism that might reasonably be expected to transmit any disease to wildlife or freshwater fish I called my regional office for Florida Fish and Wildlife and asked if transporting legally caught fish of legal size for stocking into private waters is legal. She stated that I could release legally caught fish from state waters into "private waters," but not fish from "private waters" to public waters without permission from the commission or a valid aquaculture license.

strippers in the Potomac?
Is this the typical time they start showing up? In Florida as the snowbird season approaches strippers tend to show up in numbers at your typical places, Gold Rush, Rachels, and Crazy Horse. I would assume that in the Potomac as winter approaches they tend to follow the snowbirds south and west, especially to Nevada. What baits and techniques are best? I have found that paper money in denominations of $20, $50, and $100 work best. Usually the higher the denomination the better quality stripper. Any links to info on the subject is greatly appreciated. I would love to give you links publicly, but fear being banned for hyperlinking the websites. Good luck!

Sentry vs. Stabil
If you want a fuel stabilizer you can't go wrong with any and for most people that is enough. Although, I remember reading that some fuel stabilizers can gum up. That why I run Seafoam at cleaning levels once every 50 hours for its decarbonating abilities and every other tank at additive level. Make sure you change your plugs if you run Seafoam at more concentrated levels.

Big "O" Trip
Spot on! We had them hitting freaking Rattle Traps, ended up catching 4-6 bluegill the size of dinner plates. Next time I head out I am taking my beetle spin outfit to try to catch some for my pond!

9/19/09 college football
I love it, Pete Carroll is ticked! Just finished watching the FSU-BYU game and was pleasantly surprised that FSU actually seemed like the dominant team over a top 10 ranked BYU team. Being an FSU fan/alum I though it was going to be a long season, especially after the miserable showing against Jacksonville State, but maybe we can recover. Also, I hate to say it, but the"U" is back, too bad they are in the ACC . Va Tech better watch out FSU and UM are back!

Big "O" Trip
Went scouting for teal and did a little bass fishing with my duck hunting buddy after. We ended up catching about 10 bass in about 1 hour of fishing. The biggest went about 2lb, but my buddy had a monster on. Most fish came South of the Indian Prairie canal towards the inside not the outside reed/grass edge. I fished a t-rig worm, but quickly switched to a 1/2 rattle trap after my partner was catching them steering the trap through the grass. Ohh, I almost forgot on his second cast he jumped a juvenile tarpon ;D. I can't wait until the spawn is on, the lake is looking great! Any S. Florida duck hunter here? We say plenty of teal/mottled ducks just S. of the Indian Prairie canal dike and they seemed like the were flying towards Buckhead Ridge area, but could not spook any up as we rode around scouting. Send me a PM if you are a fisherman or a hunter that has seen ducks on the Big O. Thanks!

Lox refuge get together.
Sounds good to me, as date approaches lets keep an eye on the weather. I can either ride backseat or take my boat, depending. If anyone wants a backseater or needs a backseat PM me. I am in the North Palm/PBG area. Jupiter are you in?

Heating up down here
Starting to see first string of mullets! Not thick yet, but soon ;D, then its ON!

Waning Interest?
I think everyone goes through phases. Sometimes, I get tired of bass fishing and get excited about snook fishing, hunting, or golf. Duck hunting as another obsession of mine, but I can only harvest donald/daisy certain times of year. Nevertheless, if I had to pick only one hobby to have for the rest of my life it would be fishing.

What's your "guest" rig?
If my guest know what they are doing they can pretty much fish all my high end gear. Problem is that once they do the bait monkey jumps them. ;D If they are "tree catchers/backlashers" I usually let them fish with a Shimano Sonora reel on a Shimano Clarus rod.

Lox refuge get together.
If its Monday the 21st I can't go, I will be tailgating for the Dolphin game. If its the 28th I am there! Does anyone launch from the Southern Blvd area, next to the Sheriff's shooting range? If so that is where I take off from. I found that making the run down the canal towards that flats is faster than driving. If anyone from Palm Beach wants to ride with me shoot me a PM.
