  1. I would agree the media tends to blow things out of proportion. Also, government agencies are stuck between a rock and a hard place, if they don't react and something tragic happens they are held accountable, if they overreact and cause us to panic then they have a "crisis." Anyway here is one Australian's opinion: http://health.asiaone.com/Health/News/Story/A1Story20090427-137824.html
  2. Now this guy is an amBASSador for the sport and people with disabilities, anyone who thinks he has it tough needs to meet this guy, WOW!
  3. I own a Cumara, owned a crucial and own some IMXs. I would agree with the poster above about bang for buck with the Crucial being the winner there........,but for the extra cash you do get a better rod in the IMX. Its a point of diminishing returns.
  4. Watermelon Candy or June Bug Weightless Tex-Posed on a Gammy EWG Hook from 3/0 to 6/0 depending on the size. Also wacky if you can get away with it.
  5. How about adding: Spotted Suwannee Shoal Peacock (although technically not in the sunfish family) My vote went to Smallmouth, cause in my opinion they are more fun to catch than LM....too bad we don't have them here in sunny S. Florida! We have PEACOCKS!
  6. What do you expect from FROGS!
  7. I would get a bigger as in longer and wider jon boat. I take my buddy out all the time and he is 6' 270 and I am 6' 2" 205. Plus a Jon boat is more versatile and usually lighter depending on gauge thickness.
  8. Avid or Crucial, Daiwa reels don't like being on Shimano Rods though
  9. If the price difference is not too much go with the bigger weight savings.
  10. Frogg Toggs............ > I bought a couple of pairs to keep on the boat. Zipper broke on one the first time I used it. The pants seat leaks on the other. I got them both for $20, but they should have been $5.
  11. Nice fish and welcome to the forum! Here is a link within the forum where you can post about your trip: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?board=Outing_ID
  12. You forgot Spincaster and Spinning. I would venture to say many beginners own them without owning a baitcaster. I have about 5 Spinning and 15 baitcasters that I use for bass fishing.
  13. I love TW, but I am guessing it is either an agreement with Kistler or....a concept called loss leader. Here read up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loss_leader
  14. Buying a jon boat when I was young (10), it opened up a whole new world, for Snook and Bass!
  15. We can all debate this or that, but in the end the record stands! I respect and admire Doug Hannon, although lately it seems he has becoming a bit Roland Martinish in his promotion, but he has achieved that through years of on and in the water time! As far as the next world record, to get it straight we should have to 1. Weighed/Measured on a certified scale/tape 2. Documented via photograph 3. Have it genetically tested to verify strain info (hybrid strain, Florida strain, Northern strain) 4. Have location revealed of where it was caught 5. Have the fisherman/woman who caught the record take a lie detector test, regarding how he caught the fish and whether it was foul hooked or not, or if tampered with the fish in any form. 6. If the fish was caught outside its natural range or limitations. If not it should be noted that the record bass is not a natural occurrence in the area and potential reasons for unnatural weight. (i.e. Caught in private cool water pond where genetic hybrid fish were feed a diet of high protein tilipia and trout, or caught in California where the trout stocking programs and cool temperatures has allowed bass to grow to huge proportions, or caught in S. Africa on a private lake, landowner admitted to selective breeding as well as genetic modification to provide record bass with optimum environment, etc.) The point is that there will always be controversy over a world record largemouth bass. Everyone will have an opinion of why or why not the record should or shouldn't stand. Even if the world record is folklore, a bigger bass was caught in California. I would actually like to see a "Natural" record book where only genetically tested fish caught in natural range under natural settings would count, but that is just me call me MONK!
  16. Done, finished survey at 1:32 PM EST on April 19, 2009. How do you verify those who posted actually took the survey? I am pretty sure the honor system will work, but there is no verification process.
  17. Madden, RETIRED ! What is EA sports going to do? I think they had an inside scoop on Collingsworth though, cause he is all over it. I had to turn the commentating off.
  18. Why choose? Do both! I always tend to throw something a bit different than my fishing partner until we dial them in. If you see them busting on baitfish, try to mimic it closely, but if it isn't clear, than we experiment.
  19. X_Raps, Skitter Pop, Original Rapala, DT Series, but avoid the Rattlin Raps, they tend to plane to one side, even if tuned.
  20. Drum roll...................................... ended up getting the Chronarch B Series, smoothhhhh. Palming is not an issue and it balances well on my 7' Cumara. Plus, 142.xx after coupon and tax it couldn't be beat ;D.
  21. Roadwarrior, Yeah that Scorpion is one heck of a reel . It'll feel right at home on a a custom G Loomis 782 Slate/IMX blank!! It makes for a sensitive finesse slayer. I will have to disagree with the Natural though, although it is great little reel, it is not and I repeat is not an MG50, right out of the box, but nothing a little supertuning or ball bearing handle can't fix , fortunately you won't have that problem ;D!
  22. Sold my Scorpion today and put a 50MG on my Slate. So my Cumara felt very lonely.....what to do? Buy a new Curado E of course! (no flaming from Daiwa, Quantum, or Revo Fans Please, I did consider another Zillion though, but a Daiwa on a Shimano Rod just doesn't feel right) So I was looking through the mail and got a 10% coupon on any one item from BPS. So I figured I could pick up a Curado E for $171 out the door. Problem is that BPS is about 40 miles farther South. So I figured what the heck go to Gander Mountain and see if they will honor a BPS coupon (they do). Walked down to the fishing department picked up a Curado 200E and.............right next to it was a Chronarch B series for $149.99....hmmmmm??? What would you do? New Curado E 200 for $171 out the door or an old Chronarch B 100 for $142.
  23. I believe its on article on David Giudice and his sponsor, a Mental Health Center, for the Southern Open. I personally think its an inspiration for those with disabilities, but I can find the humor in it as well He is an inspiration to people with disabilities? I think I have a better chance of inspiring a weight watchers group. :-? He is a DEAF and bipolar! Maybe he can get a boat sponsorship from Slim Fast. I can just see it now David Guidance wins Southern Open in his Slim Fast wrapped Skeeter, beating out Speedbead by an ounce . South Fla, we need to catch you up. David has done quite the opposite to help promote disabled and disadvantaged people in the sport of fishing. He is well known on the internet for burning MANY people out of money and gear. He has blatantly infringed on copyrights and trademarks also. He's a legend, but for all the wrong reasons. BASS Times will not be happy when they learn the truth, if they haven't already. WOW! That is a real shame, there goes the "Good ambassador for mental health." I hope BASS prints a retraction or doesn't ever give this guy the time of day. If I would have been in the know I wouldn't jump to defend the deaf, bipolar cheat! Sorry Speedbead ;D
