Love my hula poppers. Question: Does anyone ever add split rings to the trebles on these and the Heddon baits? I myself do not like the screw in system and eyelets that Heddon and Arbogast uses. Does this free up the hooks better? Sometimes they seem too stiff. Yep, the first thing I do is cut off the stock hooks and add split rings. Then I finish them off with Gammy hooks. Works like a charm.

I use a palomar knot to tie everything. When tied with braid it'll straighten the hook or bring that submerged log to the boat... Just me

I met Ronnie briefly at the Cast for kids ice out tournament up here in R.I. last spring. Within the first minute of meeting him we were chatting like old friends....long enough that I had tied up the boat ramp, because I forgot that my F150 was still sitting there! ;D Congrats!

I have a 2 piece Pflueger rod that I epoxied together! I hate 2 piece rods! 8-) My gramps always put a bit of nose grease on the rod before inserting the top half to ensure a painless disassembly. Old school right there.

I've got it real easy...LBH will vouche for me on that one! I've been with my wife for over 12 years now...It's all about give and take. I tell her I'm gonna be out in the boat with Rick, Rusty, Mike or whomever, and she just want's to know where (in case of emergency), and when (estimated) I'll be back. She always asks me how the day was, wants to see pics etc. It's gonna be great to get my little guy out there to someday soon. 8-)

Alan, I bought a Triumph 2 years ago...wasn't really impressed. I'm keeping it in the garage for my son. Will be a good rod for him in a few years.
