  1. Ahhh man, I was so bummed out I had to sit down and just put my head in my hands. We went out yesterday morning, on the water at 5:10. Started catching right at 5:20, some nice mid to high 2's. I put down the worm rod and start jigging. About an hour into throwing a 1/2 oz Strike King jig I get hit like a dump truck, this fish was pulling the boat I'm getting it close to the boat...it dives, close to the boat again....it dives, Get it to within about three feet of the boat at the surface and........the hook comes out. My partner Rick was speechless, we both got a good look at it, I'm not one to speculate about size. But this would have been my new PB (at least 5lbs) without a doubt....and I blew it. The hookset was solid, line never went slack, only thing I can think of was maybe it was skin hooked. What a let down... Anyway, enough gloom and doom, here's a few of the smaller ones. I caught 6 and Rick caught 9 before it started to thunder and the deluge came. Me Rick
  2. Congrats Eric!
  3. Burn it! Burn it! Burn it! I like the Cotton Cordell Spot and the ol' standby Bill Lewis, but I agree, the hooks need to be changed.
  4. My brand new one does, not sure if I'm ready to toss it in the tackle bag tho, if ya know what I mean. Afraid it'll get banged up, or worse....kerplunk!
  5. Took a bunch of stills and made a quick video. This is my first one, so be gentle
  6. Looking good Russ! Can't wait to hit the surf this year!
  7. Finally got my buddy Rick out of his slump. The last three trips out he's been skunked. Today's conditions played right into his strengths, soft plastics with air temp reaching the low 90's. We hit the water at 0515 and stayed until 1145, he caught about 18, and I think I eneded up with 20. I was pitching a 5" *** from *** again. Thanx again to LBH for turning me on to Brent's company. The green pepper and watermelon swirl were gettin' it done today! A few pics The first pic is me from last Tuesday night, the rest are from today Rick
  8. Nice dude! We are truly lucky here in R.I.
  9. 7' BPS Extreme Medium Shimano Stradic 2500 Yo Zuri Ultra Soft 6# Gamakatsu 2/0 wide gap finese hooks and three bags of *** 5" ***!

I've found that the bass are hitting my jigs pretty hard. This is the first year that I've had any success, it's almost like a hit on a crankbait for me.I've been hopping the jigs on the bottom...... Bounce, bounce, bounce, BAM set the hook!
  12. Yep, this is my #1 pet peeve. Some of the local spots around here are absolutely ruined. That's why I enjoy going up to the honey hole with LBH, it's pristine. You don't have to wade through a sea of garbage to put the boat in. I went and scoped out an old place I used to go, there was enough trash there to fill the back of my F150.
  13. I have a 10'6 Loomis for surfcasting, with a Dawia Emblem attached to it. It cast about 3 miles..... ;D
  14. Solid advice I grabbed two Extremes on sale and my catch ratio went up exponentially. Great, great rods 8-)
  15. I have one that I use for crankbaits. That's about it. I used to use it for soft plastics, but when I got my BPS Extremes it went in the garage.
  16. Awesome! I'll have to try it this weekend. If they'll ever stop biting on the trick sticks! Thanx for th heads up Avid!
  17. Awesome, I love it. Describes my family to a T
  18. Thanks Avid! I think it would be funny to have a bloopers video if Russ can get enough footage! ;D
  19. I think it's hard to fish a fluke the wrong way, just let the fish tell you what they want. One day we fished em fast and all we caught were pickerel. The next day I went out and slowed it down and caught two bass. It all depends...
