Palmetto State Armory AR15s
Well, that's the thing. You can always upgrade for better parts down the road. For ME, the AR is a dirty ole service gun. I like bolt action gun for general accuracy and hunting guns at that. With the modular AR, we can build it however we like, the basics all do a satisfactory boom and my lower cost custom builds have all been accurate. I like to buy blem parts and used parts as well. On the other note... I just sneak them into the safe and then bring it out later like I have had it for some time. I almost bought a new hunting rifle yesterday... Still thinking about going back to get it. The deal was good for one, but would have been great for the other. I should have pressured them to the price and discount that was advertised...

Bass boat, or kayak?
This thread made me get my favorite kayak out... I have been it it in almost two years prior and after back surgery. I have been feeling the itch to go kayak fishing, but not in my smaller one. I missed this one as it is fast and stable in almost all conditions. I took it out last night and did some night fishing. That old feeling is still the same. Once it is loaded up, I usually use a few days. I will go out to a different lake this evening. You don't need a $2k yak to fish out of. This one was much less than $1k. I have never felt the need for a pedal drive. I can go over logs and in brush easily. My least expensive was $150. They all catch fish and are fully rigged with trolly, fish finders, etc. The one in the photo, I was originally going to chop up a trolling motor for it and make a rudder. I truely enjoy paddling and the upper body I exercise I get.

hard to beat the long lasting quality of Zman. I can usually get zman stuff around $3 these days. Before all this marketing of the Ned rig and before zman TRDs where easily found or available, I was purchasing a set of jig heads for a little over a dollar and a pack of yum stickbaits for $3. I was killing bass with that combo. I still have tons of both in stock. I use the zman stuff almost as much, but I like the soft hooks of the jig heads better. The zman hooks are short, but they will break on you. I have lost a lot of fish because the hook is broken off.

Why flasher mode?
If RTS is delille life sonar readings on the right side of the screen, then some Garmin units have it. I love this feature on my black and white Garmin echo 200 back in the day. I could drop shot or do anything right where it's at the fish where and I can see my jig in real time as I lowered it or raise it up. I'm not sure if I have seen it on my Garmin striker 4cv or on my echomap units. I can check both units out later today or tomorrow as I'm sure I'll go fishing between this time.

I know what you mean. When I lived in Arkansas, most people do not lock the door. Keys are left in the car. I was just in Nebraska, same thing. Doors not locked. I have had many people get mad at me because they are locked out after I was there all because I have a habit of locking everything up. Even as good as I am about locking things up, I am a little more trusting than my wife who has lived in CA all of her life. I try not to leave anything on or in my boat. My boat locked at the hitch and sometimes I lock the wheels. Now I will start locking my batteries and gas up. Just a shame.

Bass boat, or kayak?
You can't beat getting exercise doing something you love. Kayak fishing is so rewarding. When I am able to, I will be back in my yak and will leave the boat at home more often. We have 4 kayaks and only purchased a boat due to my back issues. I love my boat for just what it is and does. I did not buy too much boat or too little. My heritage is decked out... I will soont have more gear on it that what I paid for the boat, bit that's okay. My kayaks are rigged up too! That's the fun part of the kayak, making it a better fishing machine. Find one you are comfortable with and have fun.

Busted My Transducer ~
Maybe let it dry and seal with epoxy? That way you don't have to buy all the brand new G3 units ? Okay, I let me get out of here before you throw something!

Or the waters around them just aren't kayak friendly.

ICAST 2019 New Products/Rumors/Wishlist
I hear you on that. I was using it before it was the industry thing. This guy in MO put me on it years ago. With that said, I don't chase rigs. I am so old school. Texas and Carolina where all I used before the bed rig. I rarely wacky, just recently thought about Neko, and then I just saw a video on dum-dum rig. Whatever you catch fish on, do what you do. I am just expanding more because of tournament fishing.

Hardly... I can catch numbers of very nice bass on the ned rig. Keep on casting the swimbait and other stuff and I will keep on pulling out 5 and 6 lb bass. Some people just aren't Midwest finesse fishermen. I know I am not one to chunk swimbaits and other lures to get the big fish. The ned rig brings out bass of all sizes for me. I rarely catch dinks period... That's all about location. But the ned rig will get bluegill, catfish, and I am sure just about anything else. It does not scare big bass away. Oh I am interested... I knew I was going ultrex next year. Garmin has already got my money going all livescope. Now I can have less wires with the built in sonar. Plus full integration. If you are a garmin user and wanted all the nice features, you have no choice but to look here. I was really hoping they would come in at $2500 or less... Now to start selling things I don't need around the house...

Garmin Force trolling motor
ouch at $3K... I will see exactly what it has because I did want an ultrex. I am very interest now, but I have to scheme up a way to get it in the house or on the boat now.

Bass boat, or kayak?
Some people just do not need a boat as much as they want them. We have been taught for a long time how important a bass boat is... Yet Kayak fishing is becoming more and more popular as well as profitable. It is not because people are "poor" and cannot afford to run a boat. Sometimes it is storage. People who are renting, living in condos, or city dwelling were parking/storage is limited is a big deal. Even more getting a boat in and out of a location. The hassle to store a boat is a real hassle people in some locations. Many people just want to get on the water and grabbing a kayak, putting it on a car, in a truck or on top of an SUV is easy. No need to try to shame a person for logically declining to purchase a boat. If it does not fit them, that's them. A fisherman is just that. It does not matter what they fish out of or not. I love how fishermen who are so caught up on materials forget its all about fishing. What is more the questions and is more personal to the purchaser like where and how he plans to fish. It is obvious he can have either or... And another thing, he just wanted opinions that many other people ask.

But it works so well... O wonder why not make it the default... Oh yeah, accessories make money ? I saw a difference with the upgrade. I hope you do as well.

Bass boat, or kayak?
I am a kayak fishermen first. There is nothing like it. I paddle, not pedal. I currently have 4 kayaks. Secondly, I am a float tube guy. Very different, but it is very comfortable and perfect for some locations. Third, I fish our of my bass boat. The bass boat gets me to bigger water that I would not want to take my kayak or tube into. I currently fish out of my boat the most due to recovering from back surgery. The kayak and tube are uncomfortable enough to really hurt me, and that hurts me ?. You can launch a kayaks in minutes and fish just about any body if water. Similarly with the tube. The downside is you cannot cover as much water, which may not be a big deal. No doubt a bass boat is good... So the cons for me are I have to drive and hour back and forth to fish at my closet lake. Gas is expensive in CA at $4. Driving a truck, towing a boat, gasing the boat, etc adds up really fast. That's my biggest con. On another note, I get very little exercise with boat in comparison to kayak and tubing. Yeah, when I was able, the yak and tube were apart of my weekly workouts so I mixed fishing with it. I was in excellent shape Truth is, if my back was better, I would be in my kayak or tube 3 days out of the week and boat maybe once. I have some nice smaller bodies if water that I love to be in with my smaller vessels. The boat is just more a burden that is WORTH IT if you use it. I was determined to not do what I see too many people do, let the boat sit. I use my boat about 3 times a week. It's the most expensive, but do to health it's the only way I can fish... Very worth it for me. That why my wife wanted me to get it... I couldn't fish at all pre surgery. My questions would be... How often would you fish?, How close is your go-to body of water, and how much time/resources you have to get the craft used as much as you can? That can help determine what you go with. Ultimately, I see you with both... I didn't really want a boat as the kayak is just great.... But it's a bout having fun the right kayak too!

Dang shame we have to secure our "stuff" like we do. Taking care of your family is always a great investment.

Lowrance vs. Humminbird down imaging issues
I am a Garmin user. I tried them all and did a lot of testing before my recent big purchase... I use livescope on bow with a cv52 transducer. On the transom, I use a gt34 UHD and cv52, so I get readings as good as hummingbird mega images because my down is now at 820kHz and the side is 1120kHz.... With all that said, it's the resolution of my 93sv units that are the killer in my setup. This is what I see with your images. The resolution on the lowrance unit is lower than the hummingbird. The lowrance unit is pulling the same returns of grass... This is what gets me these days. Everyone says get as big of a screen you can, but noone says get the highest resolution to match. So like in my case with the echomap plus, I got the largest screens but the resolution is the same as the lower sized screens. The images are just blown up or scaled up, but are not displayed in high resolution. Higher resolution screen are what set hummingbird units apart and make them appear to cost more. Like I said, you can get better results with a transducer upgrade on your Garmin units... But the resolution is what ultimately determines how you see it... What models are your lowrance and hummingbird units?

Trolling motor wiring harness
First... Why did it combust? What is the trolling motor thrust? What is the length of the wire run? What is the wire guage? Of course you can splice it... But it could happen again, and maybe in a different spot that you can't see. Thankfully, it looks like it only burned in-between the fuse/breaker and the battery. This means that for the most part, all fail-safes worked and the whole wire should be good to go ? What appears to have happened is the wire gauge between fuse/breaker could not have been good enough or the breaker/fuse was too high. You can replace the wire at the original splice, the yellow crimp by uncrimping it. Use the correct gauge red+(positive) wire to connect a breaker or fuse that will then connect to the battery. Difference between breaker and fuse is that a breaker will pop or break the connection, but can be manually or automatically reset, that is if it just doesn't completely fail. A fuse is burned and done... You have to replace the fuse so carry extra. In this case, you can use a fuse to easily step up or down to find the proper amperage to protect... Check with manufacturer or look online for information on their website. Minnkota has a lot of information on this topic. Hope it helps

Humminbird 5 Port Hub Power Solution
Sure can. I will be making some instructions on how to make it. The two basic components are below. Bulk converter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CNXLDCQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rY2gDbJMVCJFJ Network switch: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FNFSPY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.12gDb0TN60SV Use the bulk converter to step the 12v down to 5v. I also put an inline fuse in the unit for protection. From there, I just wired it back to fuse box... Here is video of me talking about it.. https://youtu.be/4PlXTKQtmwA?t=14m18s Hummingbird bad news... I made the switch box for a Garmin Marine at work. Adult and I still believe that Garmin is a little greedy as all the other companies when it comes to these basic components and overcharging for you. Now I have even more of a bad taste in my mouth about humminbird / Johnson Marine. these are just basic ethernet network cables yet Johnson decide to use very specific proprietary connections for their units. there is no need for this other than to make a basic cable that is pennies per foot a very high profit item.... I didn't do any research to see if there are any cable ends that you can self terminate for Johnson... Garmin has termination kits, that aren't necessary, make it look stock. At the end of the eighties just wires... If I got my hands on one I could tell you what pins go to what wire and then we could talk about making some type of 3D printed adapter.

Best times to find deals
As you said the BP Spring Sale, Fathers day, winter months and ebay. I have scored some nice second hand and new equipment on ebay. One way to make deals better is buy cabelas and other store giftcards when you 20% off or extra on the card. That adds up when you are making big purchases. Stores like Dicks sporting goods prices matches, plus you can still use your rewards and coupons. Bass Pro and Cabelas price match one another and other stores... Don't let them tell you they do not... they have the signs hidden on the back end caps of stores, lol! Some employees will say they do not, but yes they do!

Humminbird 5 Port Hub Power Solution
That should work just fine. The hubs do not require a lot of power at all. I made a hub from a basic $10 network hub from amazon.

Tracker 2018 Heritage/2019 Classic edition boat
Do you use your livewell? The livewell has an overflow drain that leads our of the drain, but anything that is above that will leak over and go to under the floor. Going fast, then slowing down or stopping abruptly will allow the water rushing up from behind to cover the transom. I usually make a turn when I am coming to stop so that the water will not come to the back of the boat. Drain plug... Well the ones that came with the boat are supposed to go from the inside out. I usually do not take mine off of the boat anymore. I use to get water in my boat, but lately it's been bone dry.
