    Welcome!
  2. Welcome from another noob!
  3. I have and use both. Other than a little weight savings on the XT, not a lot of difference in real world usage. FYI, Walmart is selling the XT for pretty cheap right now.
  4. I agree that a spinning outfit is your best bet. For years I fished those same lures mostly in farm ponds and small city lakes, 100% from shore. I used a St Croix 6'6" ML/Fast Premier spinning rod and Shimano 1000 sized Sedona with 6lb Fireline. It was a great combo and though I was going for crappie most of the time it also caught plenty of good sized bass. That falls right at your upper end budget. That's my suggestion.
  5. Thanks again for the replies everybody. Lots to think about. I'm not sure I can swing a trip up that way, but if they'd ship it'd still be huge savings. Appreciate the info.
  6. Thanks for the replies. I own a handful of Avids (pre Avid X) in lighter power and they're my favorite rods. Is the Avid/Avid X that noticeable a difference over the SCIII Mojos? I've also Considered Dobyns but haven't had a chance to handle one in person. They sure are highly thought of.
  7. Good day, I've been a lurker here for awhile and have discovered this is one of the best places to gather information. I've fished since my teens, so, about 40ish years. Mostly gills, crappie, walleye and trout. Though, I've caught my fair share of bass I've never really targeted them. A couple years ago I decided to change that and threw together a few outfits from gear I've collected over the years. I'm now in the process of upgrading, because 30 year old 5'5" Berkley One spinning rods in light power aren't quite cutting it. Most of the good gear I use for gills, crappie, walleye and trout is lighter weight SC Avid (pre Avid X). I'm thinking upgrades for bass gear will be Mojo and maybe a LTB thrown in the mix for fun. I am a weekend angler and fish almost exclusively from shore. Take care all!

  9. Hi All... New member, long time lurker, first time poster... I'm wanting to add a couple rods this year. The two I'm looking at are a 6'8" Medium/Extra Fast Spinning and a 7'4" Heavy/Fast Casting. I'm looking at both the St Croix Mojo and LTB series. I can afford one Mojo and one LTB. Which rod do you think I'd be better off doing in the LTB series? The wacky/finesse or heavy cover rod? Thanks!
