  1. Suspending in 10-12 ft sitting over 16 feet of water....Smithwick Suspending Rogue the 8ft Version . If that doesn’t generate interest, then try a Damiki Rig hovered just above the schools; although I’ve never fished a Damiki, I’ve seen anglers do well in similar situations
  2. In 2013 I took 3 weeks in December to travel solo around Florida while camping from my SUV; I fished a ton of nice Lakes on this trip including Lake Tarpon, Walsingham Reservoir, Taylor Lake, Lake Seminole, Lake Chautauqua, Alligator Lake, Naples Canal, Everglades, Miami Lakes Blue Lagoon, Stick Marsh, Lake Kissimmee, East Toho, West Toho, Lake Harris, Lake Eustis and about 10 other various roadside ponds and canals. I was basically in search of a 10lb Bass for catch and release and also Miami Peacock. The fishing was average to below average; but at East Toho I spent a half day casting only a Strike King Red Eye Shad in Front of Lakefront Marina; it was getting dark and I had probably made about 500+ casts and only caught a few bass up to 2.5 lbs. and I made up my mind to keep fishing until i could catch one more. The time was right the conditions were good and I was covering water; when at the end of a long cast right at the beginning of my retrieve a giant fish stopped my Rattletrap dead in its tracks, at first I thought I had snagged a gator but those gators usually pull and the line just snaps immediately, this fish made two slow side to side head jerks and then just swam towards deeper water, turning me towards the marina, it only waked briefly about 20 yards out from me, and by my judgement it was over 10lbs and probably closer to 12 or 13lbs. At that point the fish pulled downward into a piece of cover and my monofilament broke; and to this day I wonder if it was the giant Largemouth I was after ? or something else ?
  3. I prefer BaitCasting gear for Spinnerbaits morning noon or night....I want the control and the ability to feather a cast while reducing the impact all that metal can have when contacting the water. If it's super dark outside I just wear a head lamp set to low , it can produce enough light and reflection to make casting accuracy better at night.
  4. I've got a Quantum PT400cx BaitCasting reel from the 90s. It's a gigantic reel with a high capacity spool. I bought it for $5 dollars from a flea market, just thinking it would be a good backup reel or a Pike reel. I've since fished the darn paint and logo clean off the reel, and it still performs quite well. All of the current PT series gear will be even better and is very good quality , and on par with equipment from other brands in the same price point...also they do have an industry leading 3 year warranty on all registered PT Reels.
  5. Extra Fast rods and Fast Rods and Moderate Fast Rods from one Brand and Model are generally made from the same grade of Graphite. Using Abu Garcia Veritas as an example they are made in 6ft6 to 7ft6 in Fast, Xtra Fast and Mod Fast actions; yet the grade of the graphite material is the same for all three actions....From my understanding the way each fishing rod ends up with its specific action or taper has to do with the way the graphite is pressed, layered and then rolled or formed around a mandrel. Many moons ago it was explained to me this way; and much of it also has to do with the type and amount of resins applied for layering graphite when a graphite sheet is formed and also the amount of heat applied in the process of making the blank. I know there is more to the process from an engineering point of view , but that’s beyond my scope of awareness and explanation. Someone correct me if I’m wrong , or feel free to add to this explanation
  6. I'd try the Kast King Royale with Cheese Legend Elite
  7. I wear Under Armor Flip Flop Slide Sandles; it's habit to keep them near the door in all seasons. But If you want warmth, and durability, then maybe check out the Crocs...,they make a Fuzz series in kryptek pattern they are brand New. https://www.crocs.com/p/classic-kryptek-neptune-lined-clog/205447.html?cgid=fuzz-collection&cid=410#

  9. Keeping the core warm allows the body to properly circulate blood. This means (1) breathable under armor layer, (2) Thermal underwear layer, (3) Fleece layer and (4) Waterproof/Windproof Shell. (5) Warm socks and (6) water repellant boots with goretex, to prevent heat loss through the feet...at this point any (7) glove that sheds a reasonable amount of water and has some insulation should be the final requirement with (8) hand warmers on top of the hands being optional .
  10. It's worth revisiting : ) it's hilarious and full of absurdity
  11. For real probably "Back To The Future" because I was out of the sport for so long; but I really wanted to say "Bourne Supremecy" but that title is reserved for KVD
  12. 99% of the time I'm throwing this lure to emulate scurrying Crawdads or Panfish. So I prefer Blacks, Greens and Browns.
  13. I guess somewhere around 22lbs of Largemouth; all caught on Lake Eries Western Basin
  14. 7ft MH Fast Abu Garcia Veritas when using Mono,Copoly or Fluoro. 7ft1 MH ModFast Abu Garcia Veritas when using Braid.
  15. Here is my opinion , run the idea past your fiancé first : )
  16. Boats and Trucks Depreciate and there is no financial return on investment....but in life we only live once and not everything we purchase gains equity. I think the first factor to consider is: What is the ultimate goal of owning a boat ? Is it to pursue a career as a tournament pro ? To just pursue a hobby ? To emulate the pros? To become a fishing guide ? Pleasure boating ? Or is it a status thing ? Decide first why you want a boat and then determine what you can afford based on current income minus fixed costs like utility bills, mortgage, taxes, phone bill, food, clothing etc etc ....only you know what you are comfortable with paying.
  17. Lowrance makes Castable sonars which will work great for this scenario. Or you could go Old School and spend an hour or two casting a Texas rig and counting the lure down , eventually you will be able to approximate the deeper areas.
  18. We have been seeing 25-35 degrees at night ; and it's going to be 19 on Tuesday. So today on Nov10, I decided to put up 90% of all my gear , cleaned what needed to be cleaned and made sure all my Planos were tidy and reorganized. But I'm probably going to keep 2 cold weather setups prepped in case the weather warms up ; last year I fished until the end of November and then again twice in mid February when we were lucky enough to receive unseasonable weather. So I'm praying to God for a warm Michigan winter !
  19. Oh ok I think we understand what you are trying to find; maybe a Curado K or Chronarch would be a good choice .
  20. 90 foot is a long cast for a weightless Senko and you are doing pretty good , but remember in a real world scenario it's only a good cast if the lure lands within the area you are targeting without negatively alerting the fish. I say great job, but in real world scenarios, focus on accuracy and targets between 5 and 50 feet, you will actually end up with more casts per day and you will cover higher percentage areas, as a result !
  21. Have you ever seen these reels in person or physically handled any of them ? Also what is you current experience with $100 to $150 dollar reels ?
  22. Great catch and sportsmans release ! Now think for a moment what that fish will look like during the next spawn, all because she was handled with care and respect !
  23. Looks just like the Blue Tilapia Ive seen from Pinellas county all the way over to Miami Dade.....but maybe a darker species of tilapia .
  24. Bunch of Cajuns and Canadiens !
  25. In Michigan I would say 12 to 15 feet is the deepest I've found Largemouth on Crankbaits; but routinely catch Smallmouth in 20 to 30 feet.
