Largemouth vs. Smallmouth
Smallmouth Bass are, by nature , slightly more aerodynamic and they are pound for pound a more formidable opponent then Largemouth bass. The Peacock Bass (although not a member of the Black Bass family of fish) are even more formidable.

Would the mayfly hatch affect bass patterns at all?
Yes, usually the mayflies provide another forage source for a temporary time period, and Bass will devour them. But i don't think a shallow mayfly hatch is enough to relocate offshore bass into the shallows; unless there was no source of food remaining in deeper offshore areas. But I suppose it's possible on some bodies of water.

Fishing Line/Sensitivity Problem
A slight bow in the line shouldn't substantially alter your ability to feel a bite, especially with a fish weighing 1 pound or bigger. And I agree with Scott F and his reply. Those are most likely bluegilll tilapia, panfish or some smaller species pecking the Senko.

Why Couldn't I Land This Topwater Bass?
A medium heavy fast is not the type of Rod I would use on a Topwater with a treble hook. I think it's equivalent to using a 1 Wood when you are 60 yards from the green. In other words it's the wrong tool for the job. Also, turning the reel handle like Flash Gordon after a trip to Starbucks, probably didn't help : ) Try again with a Moderate Fast action or Moderate action fishing rod rated for the weight of the Ploppers you are throwing, set the drag moderately and give the fish more time in the open water.

Action Cameras GoPro or something else ?
I sort of agree; and noticed it can be a hassle to carry extra equipment and batteries when sometimes I want to be completely focused on fishing. But it definitely beats using my non-waterproof smartphone : ) Hi Glenn, thank you for the offer; but I'm sort of all in now with the GoPro system; I bought accessories and mounts and other devices that work with the GoPro only. But $100 for a Garmin Virb sounds like a great deal. I'm sure someone else will probably be interested; as those cameras have great reviews !

Action Cameras GoPro or something else ?
I finally decided and bought the new GoPro Hero 2018 edition; I wanted 1080HD 60fps, Waterproof, Simple and under $200. This one checked all the marks and even has voice control. I also like how the audio quality is improved from previous generations and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Anyway hopefully this helps someone else who might be in the action camera market !

Kayak?
Absolutely make sure you purchase a stable design you can stand up in. If that BPS Ascend is stable enough to stand up, it might be worth spending the extra money for it.

Do you find that this sport is made difficult and expensive for no reason?
Absolutely, this sport can be expensive. But it can also be inexpensive; it really depends on the angler.

Rod Sensitivity
Fishing line is never in contact with all the guides at one time, because of angle and wind. Take for example a 1/4oz Texas Rigged Worm on 10lb line; with a slight bow in the line and the rod pointed between 10 o'clock and 11 o'clock; when that fish inhales a plastic worm, the first transmission of sensitivity is from the line itself, that travels all the way to the next point of contact which is the rod tip and then down the blank. So I agree with PapaJoe222, the rod tip is the first point of contact between lure and rod, therefore Spinning rods aren't more sensitive due to Line being in contact with all the guides. If Spinning rods are more sensitive at times it's most likely because of the lighter line and the grip. Just my 2 cents

Anyone ever use Horny Toads as chatterbait trailers?
They work well on Buzzbaits; but wouldn't that type of plastic add too much lift on a Chatterbait ?

Best big worm? 9-12 inch
I like the Manns Jelly worm, Zoom Ol Monster and Zoom Dead Ringer, they are all good options.

Help On Baitcast Rod Purchase..and Reel for that matter
A Moderate Fast Casting Rod will allow you to cover a lot of bases; its a great option for covering water with search baits. I think many pros would agree and probably want a Reel with 27 to 30" of line recovery for this type of fishing rod. Some pros might exclusively fish 8 to 1 geared reels (Aaron martens comes to mind, but he is an exception) but as a general rule of thumb 6 to 1 and 7 to 1 gearing is preferred. The 6ft6 Spinning Rod would be a setup I choose for drop shots and shaky heads ; but has the versatility to throw jerkbaits. I choose the shorter length because I like to retrieve jerkbaits with a downward motion and rod tip pointed towards the water. A longer 7 foot Medium Fast would work for taller anglers and achieve greater Casting distance, but not in my situation; I'm 5ft8 on a good day. Also, my advice is based on targeting Smallmouth Bass or maybe Spotted bass.

Help On Baitcast Rod Purchase..and Reel for that matter
2 Rods will be best: A 6ft10 or 7ft1 Medium Heavy Moderate Fast Graphite Baitcasting rod with a 6.6 or 7.3 to 1 BaitCasting reel. And a 6ft6 Medium Fast Graphite Spinning Rod with a 2000 or 2500 series Spinning reel....at least those would be the two I would want on a similar body of water and with similar conditions.

Icast 2018 Product videos
Couldnt make icast, but the next best thing is watching new product showcasing on tackle warehouse. I think this is the best video so far. I'm not saying it's the best product, but I like what Quantum is doing; and I think Gerald Swindle really knows how to reach the consumer. You gotta love the comical one liner at the end! If you like this video or others from icast, feel free to share those videos here.
