tips for potential new boat owner
Big price difference between the two I see. Are you buying new or used? I probably won't be much help to you other than bumping the thread, but I'm sure at least one person here has an opinion

Did it help? Edit: Oh you just bought it so probably haven't used it. Let us know

Buzbe tackle storage, anyone try it out?
I like the general idea, and I don't like anything Con: the walls of the inner boxes look thick and appear to take up valuable space. Pro: however hooks and snaps won't sneak underneath the walls like on my boxes. I don't see much advantage for lures over plain old boxes, but I do like the total control over how big the spaces are. Most boxes don't give you that. Maybe it would be cool to change out the inner boxes when you go out, like have some already filled with specific baits. Interesting idea, and I'd probably try one for my terminal tackle but not at that price.

Happy Mothers Day
Close enough! Yep, I recognize the name When I watched a lot of Youtube fishing I would hear the guys always refer to the audience as "guys, fellas", and I wondered how many women were "out there". I guess barely any. I wonder why? Bass fishing in particular. I mean I see women buying guns, or at car shows with hot rods (rare though), but I never see women fishing (without men) alone or in groups. I mean never, save for the one time I mentioned earlier. She was in the parking lot and may not have been alone either for all I know. I'm also not in an area that's popular for fishing, so there's that. To answer some of my own questions I just found this: https://www.ladybassanglers.com Women's Pro Bass Tour This seems like a sport where men and women could compete with each other equally. I dunno maybe 4 days of straight fishing would give men an advantage due to strength. Oh well just rambling.

To all you Beer drinkers..
Last few years I found a beer with a good cost/alcohol content ratio. Sierra Nevada Torpedo. It's an IPA and it's... - good tasting - has plenty of alcohol - decent price I like Newcastle, stouts and other stuff, and I've made beer a few times too, but the Torpedo meets all the requirements I listed I don't like American beers like Bud and Miller. I mean on a hot day with friends, sitting in an ice chest where you have to wipe the ice off the can top, ya okay. But after a long hard day, that first swig off a cold beer is not going to be one of those. I drink one, sometimes two a night. I take breaks from this routine sometimes and use other methods of relaxation. Gotta mix it up!

Just WOW
I'm not sure what you mean by rides, but if you mean you can't drive - Uber! There's a lake here that has no parking at all nearby, so I call an Uber and have them drop me off right at the water. No parking tickets, no hiking up the road two miles. I'm not normally an Uber kind of guy but for fishing I'll do whatever it takes. Also, since you feel like BSing, did you fish in Oregon, and if so is there any decent bass fishing near Salem? My sister lives there and I thought about moving there, but not if the bass fishing is bad. Weather is already iffy for me. I know there are other species to fish there and it's an awesome area for that. I'm also afraid it's a little too much like California there, except for the fishing since we have some top bass fisheries here.

Any musicians here?
I was deeply into music when I was younger. Studied music theory, recording. My music theory instructor told the class one day, "You can either make good music, or you can make money with music, but it is rare to do both" So true. Do what you love, you only live once. I don't play much anymore, but I'll write a piece of music on a rare occasion.

CBD revistited
My elderly conservative parents have both tried CBD for a few reasons. Older folk can come around, especially if the pain is bad enough. My step-dad is very old school, old Kansas boy. He was always against weed but he's tried CBD for pain. He's also a Christian - he said "God made weed, right?" Hey, whatever allows it to be okay in your mind. What does "never done drugs" mean? No alcohol ever either, no pain killers after surgery (opium! now that's a drug)? Ibufrofen? He probably means them d**n hippie drugs. "Never done drugs" is a hurdle you may not be able to get the old man over. It's just ignorance and deeply ingrained bias, but it's very powerful. And what would his friends think if they found out? That's probably the biggest part of it. But then again, you can't usually reason someone out of their long held beliefs. "What a fool believes, no wise man has the power to reason away" - The Doobie Brothers (ironically)

Trolling motor help for newbie
Maybe you can mount it to a board then secure that on the floor somehow? Suction cups, clamp it to something, I don't know lol but if you don't need the controller recessed into the floor then you could probably rig up something. Depends on how fancy or redneckish you want to get.

jon boat deck build - aluminum supports question
Check the grade of aluminum at Home Depot etc. I saw a few bass conversion videos where guys said that their stuff isn't made for support like other "grades" of aluminum. I'm no expert, I just thought I'd mention it.

“Highly pressured”
"It's so crowded now it's a bummer, but great to see more people out fishing!" Not really. This is why I'm not one of those fishermen who is too interested in seeing the sport grow. The benefits for me personally are far greater without an influx of new anglers. The beneficiaries of fishing being more popular are primarily the companies who sell stuff or otherwise cash in on the sport. We have plenty of innovation and brands to choose from already. The more it grows the more commercial it will get, and who knows maybe tournament rules and coverage will even be changed in an effort to appeal to a larger and less fishing-educated audience...oh wait that's already happened! Which do you want at your favorite fisheries - more people fishing or less? That's your real answer.

Things that really frustrate me about some fishermen.
We can do both. I thought of putting up a few signs at a local place but figure they'd get ripped off. I may try anyways. I talk about picking up trash a lot in my Youtube videos, hoping at least one person will take heed. I'm not famous but what the heck. Sometimes I'll highlight a piece of trash in a vid hoping that the local idiot who left it will recognize it, and maybe his buddies I pick up trash when I'm not too ticked off about it to do it. Sometimes I just think "why bother" and leave it. Sometimes I feel I'm just enabling these jerkoffs, yet if I don't pick it up the county may shut down our spot, or so I fear. Two days after "opening day" at a specific creek I found fresh trash. Sad. I felt so defeated (plus I got no bites). If I see someone littering I may say something to them unless I feel it could turn out bad. I'm kinda "that guy" sometimes. "Hey I got an extra garbage bag if you need one" can work better than "hey butt-wipe, pick up your trash you stupid such n such" though it kinda depends on my mood and how big they guy is But really, I wonder if most people who litter can be helped at all. Hopefully some can. I just can't fathom littering at all ever anywhere.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Thoreau obviously sucked as an angler Excuses excuses. I love nature too, but if that's what was most important to me I'd leave my gear at home! Seriously though, some types of fishing are more for kicking back and drinking beer and seeing the sights. Bass fishing is a pretty active method of fishing and ya, I do love fishing a beautiful area, but I'm mainly there to catch fish.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I just wanna say that I have a friend with the opposite problem. He won't spend anything on fishing, and he has the money. "I'd rather fish these lakes for free and catch nothing than spend money and time to catch" Huh?!?!? So he does just that - spends little, won't travel an hour to one of the best fisheries in the country (The Delta), or a bit farther to another top fishery (Clear...something...?), catches virtually nothing, and he says he's fine with that. I know he's full of crap but he's stubborn or something. That ain't me so I just won't ask him to go anymore! The Bait Monkey is my friend 'til the end!

Cheap And Easy Homemade Wacky Worm Tool!
You don't fool me, Bait Monkey! Edit: Since I got a "confused" response - what I meant was that is the same argument my Bait Monkey uses to get me to spend more money. "it's just a few bucks..."

Virginia High School Football Star Drowns in Lake Anna
Many lives would be saved if people wore helmets when they drive their cars, as most deaths are from head injuries, but nobody does. It sounds like the boat operator probably didn't know what they were doing. That is a gigantic problem and always has been. We can all say "wear the PFD", but I rarely see adults in boats wearing them. A driver towing someone on a wakeboard is virtually never in a PFD, at least in my experience. Nor are the passengers. My Dad lives on a lake and we've boated all our lives and I would notice if it were different. I'd say wearing a PFD is the exception, not the rule. I'd also say that about anglers I see in bass boats, although it's hard to tell sometimes because some people wear the auto-inflate ones. People here, including myself, talk a lot about wearing PFDs but I just don't see that on the water. That's just my experience. What percentage of adult boaters would you say wear PFDs where you boat and fish? I'll say less than 10%.

What Do You Bring For Lunch on the Water?
A boat is no place to experiment with your diet, especially someone else's boat I just eat what I would normally eat on any day, more or less. I don't walk around every day with random turd cramps so I don't expect problems on the water either. Most people I've known that crap all the time are pretty large in size. Maybe that's part of it? I had a friend who would need to go every time he came to my house (or anyone's house). Like a dog. It was a running joke. Same guy who dropped one on the golf course. Pretty sure I mentioned that already. When the PGA rule book mentions "taking relief" that isn't...really what it's referring to! Eating is perhaps life's greatest pleasure. Good food never gets old. Ever. I look forward to food when I'm fishing, especially if I ain't catching. It's a good time to relax and regroup. I'm thinking about getting one of those mini water filters that you can use on the go. Gotta see if it's safe to use in my area. I've run out of water before and that sucks. I had to leave early once. Water is heavy, especially when bank fishing.

Happy Mothers Day
uh...what? Are there any Moms here? At all? I'm curious - I've seen one woman's name on this board in the few years I've been here and I think it was a fake drive-by posting. It's rare for me to see women fishing so I guess the numbers are probably very low here. I've seen one woman in my life fishing by herself (no guy around) and I almost asked her to marry me

Why did I buy a Plano Hydro-Flo box?
For all you bargain fisherman like myself, they sell the same (almost) non-Hydro-Flo Plano boxes at Walmart for $1.88. If you have a drill you can make 4 for the price of one. Might be a good idea to have a small one as a drying box. There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza...

Wasted a day for nothing ...
Maybe they're just dumb. "Jethro, you idiot! I said leave four 8 pound fish in the cooler!"

Why is Fishing not listed as allowed?
If something is on a "do NOT do list", do not do it. Otherwise do it. I don't see any rules saying I CAN pick my nose while drinking a cold beer but I'm going to do it at least once tonight

I'm still waiting for the Killer Bees from the 1970s to invade North America.

I'm never bed fishing again
Good luck enforcing that law. Some bureaucrat actually got paid to make this up? What a complete waste of taxpayer money. "Sir, you took two casts at that bedding fish" "Where? I don't see any fish, too much glare" or "No I was casting to the one next to it which isn't actually bedding. Looks like you scared it away" or "That wasn't a cast I'm testing my (insert excuse here)" or "Was a bad cast, sorry" or "I didn't see any bedding fish, I was chasing one that's swimming around" Finally, why is it okay to make even one cast at a bedding fish if they want it illegal? Good law!!!

threads locked
It's kind of a bummer that no reason was given in the particular thread. I have no clue what rule was broken there, or by whom. I had a thread closed once and asked Glenn about it and we had a nice conversation over it. But if I didn't ask I wouldn't have known for sure and it would still bother me. Suggestion: It would be nice if a definite reason were given in any thread that is closed for all to see and maybe learn from. A lot of times it's obvious, but sometimes not. What was mentioned in the thread under discussion here that was against the rules? I don't wanna beat a dead horse but I'd like to know.
