Seen ZERO pads, and ZERO grass, in places that had both years ago. Think all the rain and high water last year killed it all.

last place I was that I enjoyed fishing was upstate NY, Onieda , Seneca, Erie Canal out of Rome. Just getting back into it, but honestly fishing in VA sucks... everywhere , it straight up sucks. Planning a pike/smally trip soon,,, thinking Seneca , but looks like Cayuga has more weeds.

How do you fish these things ? never had a single bite on one. Fished it like a texas rigged worm, fished it like a spinner bait, bounced it along texas worm style but faster so I can feel a bit of vibration... These are new since I got back into fishing this year after a 19 year break

first off DEET is insect repellent.. News flash, Ticks arnt insects,, got as much in common with an insect as a snake has with a deer. Poster above mentioned the red can stuff. Its Picaridan based,,, way mo better on ticks than DEET,,, although not as good on mosquitos,, ( duh,, mosquitos are insects) So for your skin, especially around your belt line, and top of your shoes or socks use a picaridin based repellent. However before you head out, hit a feed store and buy some 10% permethrin,,, add 1 oz concentrate to 19 oz of water for 20 oz,,, Spray your cloths down good,,, pants shirt, socks shoes,,, let it dry,,, then be dun for a few washings. You can buy stuff like Sawyers clothes treatments that is pre diluted, but you are paying for water.

gotta learn to fish tides,,, Brackish usually means tidal,,, bass dont care about time of day they relate to tide time...

I really liked the old black label silver thread and excalibur back in the 90's, till I got into Pline the CX not the CXX. Used 12lb on most of my casting rigs. Just getting back into fishing after about a 20 year break been using Suffix elite, and suffix advance. 12, 14, and 17.. All my artificial lure bass to date have been on crankbaits with 12lb Suffix advance,,, cant say it is as sensitive as braid,, but doenst feel like a rubberband like old original stren and Trilene XL did.

He's in Lynchburg,,, there are no tides, its a actual river. Small mouth territory. Id fish it with 2 rods, one with 10lb test and a Pop r topwater and one with 15lb or so fireline or braid with a 3-4" curly tail grub rigged texas style, throw the pop R anywhere near but not in current early, throw the grub in holes later. Lots of smallies, I love river fishing, wishing I had bought a tunnel hull john boat rather than this big water glass boat I just got. Been getting skunked fishing for largemouth

Main place I fish is the chick... Went out today,,, Not sure if it is Florida strain stocking or what but that place has changed 100% in last 20 years.. Looks the same but it aint.. ZERO grass or pads,,, ZERO shallow fish, I even slow trolled minnows on bobbers caugt 2 things,,, one of them was Jack.. Started cranking big creek and river points on incoming tide,,, fishing the up river side,,, so down current , looking for the drop offs,,, BAM ! fish on,,, BAM fish on,,, change colors BAM fish on,,, ,,, not huge, 2 lb ers, but really nice to confirm I am not a total dipstick. Stepson was with me so we went up river near d**n to fish flats with big minnows,,, trolled across flats, threw spinner baits,,, top water,, nadda.. Fish ( well at least fish I can catch) are still deep. Water temp 56.

Hah dont know but I caught 1 fish so and 2 guys at the tourny out of 27 caught none,,, so probably the third worse ? LOL.. Im in Surry,,, See one guy in Chesterfield,, I fished Chesdin 22 ish march,,, total skunked,, water was muddy and cold,, fished up lake flats, , then threw worms around docks near d**n, then cranked some humps,,, nadda,,, rode around some and everyone I talked too nadda,,, same thing at ramp. Online and newspaper reports that people are just slaying them at Chesdin, that weekend.. umm yeh learning the reports are pretty worthless, pretty much why I think tourny results are only true reports

Never been much good, did the tourny thing back in 90's sold boat in 2000, now retired and got more money than sense and got the hair brained scheme to buy a bass boat again. Been getting skunked bad sense Nov,,, I mean bad like 1 fish in 8 trips,,, ready to sink boat for the insurance. Anyways, after 7 years I finally have a vacation 21-27 April,,, want to catch some bass, dont give a rip about size,,, bunch of "keepers" which I wont keep,,, catch and release guy on black bass, Prefer lures and I have one of everything but not opposed to shiners. Been to Florida twice,,, once with Roland Martin at Ocachobee after Dessert Storm so 91 ish ? Umm yeh bitter unusual coldsnap,,, caught 2 or 3 IIRC,,,, Took my son down in 1999 ish,,, did stick marsh in Feb,, and of course nasty cold wind and managed 2 fish . Sooooooooooo gonna try again, got a new 19foot Triton , wife is coming, fishing around me blows,,, Thinking stick marsh, or Blue Cypress, and staying somewhere,,, lures, shiners dont care... GA, SC would be ok as well as I am coming from VA. I am great river small mouth and trout guy but large lake LM kick my butt.
