  1. Ok so I’m going to start by stating I’m all over the place brand and budget wise with my spinning setups but I have and love my 13 fishing fate silver med light rod which is no longer available but I wouldn’t hesitate to try another model. I will also say if I was going to purchase another spinning setup I’d look at Daiwa rods as I feel they offer a lot of bang for the buck although I just purchased a BPS Carbonlite spinning rod to match a Carbonlite reel that I purchased last season. I will add I prefer the locking nut to be on the bottom of the rod which my 13 fishing rod has. As far as spinning reels go as long as you’re staying under a 3000 size you can purchase a Stradic from Japan right around your budget but I will add the Johnny Morris reels from BPS are made by Daiwa and are very reasonably priced especially now until the 26th of this month with their spring sale currently taking place.
  2. Would you mind sharing how you reached them as I’ve tried reaching out and cannot contact an actual person. I would really appreciate that.
  3. I definitely want 1 or 2,or 3.
  4. Oh I’m definitely taking a deep dive tomorrow 😉 And as far as bulldog…..😆
  5. How can we be sure that’s not just an empty box 🤔😆🤣
  6. I had the 7’-0” med powered carbonlite combo and like you didn’t love the look but loved the action, I wound up selling the combo but my reasoning was I wasn’t a fan of the reel in hand which just didn’t fit right for me. I did purchase an SLX and wound up selling too but as I said in another post I regret that decision and remedied that with a jdm SLX MGL that I really like. I say get the SLX and Daiwa rod as variety is the spice of life. I should add I bought a Carbonlite 1500 spinning reel that I absolutely love and I purchased a 7’-0” med hvy spinning rod just last weekend along with owning a Lews TP1 rod so I guess it wasn’t the color as much as I thought.
  7. Would you mind sharing the website for this?
  8. I went to BPS last Saturday for their/my annual spring trade in sale and wound up getting a Carbonlite 7’-0” medium heavy spinning rod and a JM Platinum spinning reel in 2000 size along with a handful of baits which along with a handful of Wal Mart clearance baits should keep the monkey happy for awhile. Also for what it’s worth I had 2 BPS employees tell me the Platinum series spinning reel is a different colored Daiwa Fuego with mag seal. I should also say the Daiwa Alphas was a JDM purchase as a B-Day present to myself.
  9. @The Rooster I’ve got no dog in this fight therefore I didn’t offer any response but I see you mentioned the Shimano SLX. To be honest I’m all over the place with reel brands and if I could only use one brand it would be Daiwa for me but I had a SLX that I sold and to be honest it’s the only reel I wish I would have held onto. There was something about the way that reel just “fit” in my hand and although if you’re changing lures/weights you might have to open the side plate and adjust a brake shoe on or off I didn’t have a problem with that considering the side plate is attached and takes less than 2 minutes start to finish, ymmv. And to answer your question yes they offer a 6, 7 and 8 speed in both left and right hand retrieve.
  10. I own the 1500 size BG and absolutely love it and yes I have way lighter reels to compare it to. My only suggestion for you is to exchange it for a 2000 size which is a bit lighter and has all the line capacity you should need unless I’m missing something. It will be helpful if you share what you’re planning on using on the combo as well.
  11. @Jar11591 Unfortunately Goose Island no longer brews a brown ale which they stopped even before being bought up, although I don’t drink a lot of their beers the standard IPA they brew is solid and very consistent taste wise. I’m not sure if anyone remembers JW Dundees honey brown lager but that’s the closest to the Michelob Honey that was only available in a Christmas 12 pack.
  12. I don’t know if anyone remembers Goose Island’s HexNut Brown Ale but that along with Michelob’s Honey Lager were my favorite winter beers.
  13. @little giant Although you can’t see the spool my 8 speed is a regular/deep spool also. My biggest concern is not being able to get parts but I was able to order a part albeit a cosmetic frame part for my Saex Elite from Ardent and as a bonus they sent it for free. I’ve said it before as @Bigbox99 points out a lot of these Chinese reels are “clones” of other mass produced reels and if you can figure out which you may be able to fix them on your own if you’re mechanically competent which I am not unfortunately. Although I don’t remember the reel brands there is a video from a you tuber who’s name I won’t mention who tore down 2 Chinese reels and created a Frankenstein reel to prove the point that a lot of these reel parts are in fact interchangeable.
