  1. #1 choice is watermelon green, i also have alot of luck on red shad, black, plum apple and june bug. All depending on the water clarity as already mentioned.
  2. Lucky Craft and Rapala
  3. When it comes to deep crankin' anything 10 plus foot Ive got to go with a Rapala, shallow crankin' go with a Manns.
  4. Snagproof Frog in the lilly pads. Around timber Ive had my best success with Heddon torpedo and a Strike King buzzbait.
  5. I always get pre tournament jitters. Its mainly the excitement, sometimes a little nervous if its on a body of water that Im not familiar with. But I mainly get em because Im so hyped up and ready to go.
  6. It kinda sounded like a load of crap when he was telling me about just wanted to get some opinions about it and find out what it was. If people said it worked I was gonna try it. But from the sound of what everybody here is saying my instincts were right its just another company claiming their bait is better than live bait.
  7. I was talking with a guy at the lake the other day and he was telling me about a soft plastic worm that he had seen on the internet but didnt know the name of them. He was telling me it was advertised to be better than live bait because of its action and that B.A.S.S. was talking about banning it from their tournaments. Anybody know what this worm is???? If there is such Id like to try it.
  8. Manns -1 and -4 have produce alot of fish for me.
  9. In my personal opinion manns has the best crankbaits on the market. The ones I have most sucess with is the baby minus 1 and the minus 4 silver with a white belly.
  10. The hook set can vary depending on your equipment, the lure, the cover your fishing etc. But for the basic texas rigged worm set up this is how I would fish it. First I would go with a 7 ft MH action rod with a spinning reel. I generally fish it with Berkley Trilene 10lb test. I use a 2/0 wide gap hook. Fishing this set up I use a pretty aggressive hook set, straight back with alot of force. Of course if Im fishing something with treble hooks such as a crankbait Im going to a baitcaster and a medium action rod and heavier line and just a slight tug will get your hook set not too aggressive because you will pull those treble loose.
  11. This really sucks for Skeet, but I say its their loss. Skeet is a great representative of the sport. Put Simply having Skeet represent your company is just good for business.
  12. Ya I agree doesnt look like any of them are going out of business. Its always kind of a mixed reaction seemingly. Im kind of a Johnson/Evinrude man myself. Alot of the guys in the bass club im in have new Mercury 225 and 250s, they all seem to be slow starting. The boat my partner and I have been fishing out of has a 1988 Johnson 150 always starts immediatlely and runs great never a minutes trouble. I have a Johnson 115 on my boat. I guess overall all three brands are pretty good.
  13. I dont know what they are saying to do on tv but my personal sucess has been when i keep the rod down and tension on the line I can keep the fish in the water. When keeping the rod up my luck has always been the fish will jump out of the water several times before making it to the boat. I mean I dont go as far as sticking the rod in the water dont see where thats such a good idea just keep it low. Its usually somewhere close to the level of my feet. Keeping the rod down has been what has worked for me.
  14. Ya the voting is even so far if I had to rate them it be like this: 1. Evinrude 2. Yamaha 3. Mercury
  15. In a tournament Im looking for something alot bigger than 3/4 lb.....lol
  16. Sounds like it doesnt last too long
  17. Just wanted to see everyones opinion on outboards and the pro and cons on this matter.
  18. Considering the wind you want to throw a moving bait. Then considering the prespawn/spawn situation Im gonna check the water temp. If the temp is mid 50s are below Im gonna look for a channel preferrably with some stumps, I would be slow rolling a spinnerbait or a crankbait. The crankbait would be the first choice bouncing it off the stumps looking for a reaction bite. However if the temp is say 60 or above I know there is the possibility of fish moving up to spawn, I dunno about everywhere but I know in this part of the country where I am fish generally move up when the temp usually reaches 60 to 65. In this case Im throw a small spinnerbait and pitching an ISG dream tube.
  19. About 90 percent of the time a day of fishing for me equals no food til late that night. I usually bring several bottles of gatorade and ocassionally Ill pack a couple of sandwiches.
  20. My thing with artificial vs live bait is well artificial is more of a challenge. I mean who cant catch fish on live bait. Im into bass fishing because its more of a challenge with all the artificial baits and such.
  21. In muddy water I like to use a flippin stick with a 1/2 ounce blue and black jig with a rattle, flip it around cypress trees and any lay downs you can find. My second choice would be a either a 1/2 or 3/8 ounce white strike king spinner bait with colorado blades, slow rolled in and around cover.
  22. LOL....ya dont ya like how u can watch it live ,when its already happened. Noticed that when I was looking at the guide last night.
  23. Im gonna agree with roadwarrior , discuss this with your parents. But from an anglers view you can never spend to much time on the water. The more time on the water the more you learn to sharpen your techniques, locate fish and just get that experience.
  24. I give ESPN a big fat F on their Classic Coverage. Didnt show much coverage of fishing. The weigh in came on at like 9pm central time here thats little late dont you think. I was really disappointed with this years Classic Coverage.
