Salt water rods don’t have triggers because  the reels are usually larger size round without a level wind in lieu of low profile reel that you palm holding.
Your rod has a fore grip to hold in front of the reel when retrieving resting the reel side against the thumb. This grip also moves your hand forward a few inches balancing the longer rod.

You could epoxy the trigger shown in the photos.

    Is there any specific epoxy?

  2. So I got this awesome Phenix Rod for light casting on kelp paddies for dorado and bass in ocean,I paired that with Lexa 500 and I was very happy with the combo that I can use for heavy Swimbait fishing on freshwater bass and also for saltwater trips. But when I start to use it I found out how difficualt is casting with the rod. Each cast I need to put extra pressure to keep the rod from ending up in the water. A simple trigger is missing and made my day on water so hard, especially for someone like me, I need to be able to do 500 plus cast in few hours. Anyways make story short, I got to work, Sent an email to phenix rod customer support and received nothing. So I found a product for bikers to rest their finger on and purchased that. It is awesome, But I need to glue and weld it to the rod. It is metal but not steel and the other side is plastic Fuji reel seat. Now tell me what is the best product to glue the hell of it and make sure it can handle the pressure. If the reel seat was aluminum, I would weld the ring, But if I apply heat I will damage the reel seat.  Sorry for trypos and grammar in advance, I do multiple job at once :)

Please see the pictures to get a better idea what I want to do.

Hope you're  not towing anything with that

No way, It can't go even 100 miles, Plus the hitch is not still and not strong, Ill stick to my 3500 diesel for towing, This one is free charging for life and we are using it for around the town and use it as "church Truck".

Congrats on getting your hands on a hard-to-find vehicle that you really wanted!  My path is a little different.  I'll have a Shelby Mustang sometime in near future (and I already have a 1968 Mustang).  Thanks for offsetting my carbon footprint!

mine is my 3500 dually and happy with it. but love 1968 beast as well.

When I'd fish a lake in northwestern Ontario for brown bass for a week, come the final morning of fishing, after I'd caught about 700 smallies, including four and five-pounders, I'd be so happy and relaxed in my canoe, no longer driven to catch scores more. I feel the same way now, having caught hundreds in 2024, my PB, and dozens and dozens of four and five-pounders.

I've learned that some of you are more driven than me, but I'm wondering if some of you are like me, eventually reaching a point where you're simply happy to be on the water? I still go out and catch bass, but I cast a little less and simply witness a little more. Is it just me? Or do you too ever reach a state of contentment, where being on the water is enough?

I am in that state for last 9 years 😂, For me fishing itself is joyful, I am not saying that because I cant catch them, I know how to catch. and my kids and lady can swear on that because I told them what to do and what to use and they catch left and right always, But for me I enjoy catching on specific lure and combo on that day. So I might catch just one or even none but I am very happy at the end of the day.

I had planned on spending any free time I had this summer to fish, chasing only bass.  A friend called and wanted me to go fish for Rooster Fish south of PV with him on his boat.  I tried to tell him I only bass fish on my free time, but he is a good friend and insisted, so I broke my promise to myself and agreed to go.

I'm glad I I did because I have fished this area for 17 years and this was the best single day of fishing for roosters in my life.  We landed over 40 including this giant.

Fishing was fast and furious, and I hadn't run a busy cockpit like that in a long time.  The other angler was not experienced and I ended up having to be a full time deck hand.  It was just like riding a bike, it all came back after the first big flurry of bites, and I had a great time.

This roosters are in my list that I need to check. great catch

  8. I dont know what I would , But I already have 15 bass combos that they are $1500 plus. But I think $2000 is the last I put on bass combo or any fishing combo. Dont ask me how many more I have all the way from trout fishing to my big tuna or shark fishing combos that they are lower $2000 and in saltwater version after spooling 2 miles of beaded line, easy $2500.

I know I have issues but I still love my tackle and never feel guilty or regret doing that.

You get what you pay for with rod combos--with anything, really. I've spent up to 3k on some of my surf setups, which was necessary in order to fish the way I needed to fish. Sometimes, even, buying high end items like reels can actually SAVE money because, in the long run, it'll still be there, outlasting all those regular reels that would've been necessary to keep up with it. Case in point: I used to go through regular moderately priced saltwater reels like water until I bit the bullet and started buying Shimano Stellas or Daiwa Saltigas. With basic care, those reels will last a lifetime, only one purchase necessary. They remain silky smooth and have some of the most powerful drags in the world to stop even the biggest pelagic fish. A well matched high end combo is worth the price, no matter if the sky is the limit or not. It's like having all the right tools when working on a car or something. The right tools of the highest quality can do the job so much better and so much faster, actually saving a lot of time and a ton of aggravation. On the front end, high priced items like rod combos can appear off limits because of their initial high cost but they shine so brightly on the back end, making the experience so much more enjoyable and everlasting. But if money is no objective, it really doesn't matter anyway, because sometimes having money or not, some people (like me) will still spend it on combos as if there was no limit to it.

I am right there with you. But I couldn't afford accurate reels because pricing is insane on them.
