  1. Yes I would definately fire up the big motor, I would rather pay the fine than get struck by lightning. Big T
  2. A reliable motor that does not smoke everytime it is cranked. In the saltwater where I fish alot, I would say you need a compass, GPS, and a Vhf radio, in addtion to a relaible motor. Big T
  3. Saltwater fishing I like Flip Pallot's show and The Spanish Fly with Jose' Wejebe', freshwater I like The Bass Pros and I use to like Jerry McKinnis. Shaw Grisgby and Roland Martin use to be okay but their shows have turn into 30 minute infomercials. Big T
  4. Welcome Aboard.
  5. That's intersting. I wonder what kind of idiot put it in the water. It is illegal in NC to be in possesion of any type of Piranaha. They will throw you in jail over that. I also wonder if the fish was actually a red belly Pacu , they look alot like Piranha's. Big T
  6. I agree 100%
  7. Favorite of all time: The Intimidator Dale Earnhardt Favorite New driver: Not sure I lost alot of my interest when Dale Sr. got killed, but I do like Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick. These guys are the modern day mavericks, when Nascar is not trying to shut them up. I like Dale, Jr as well but I think he gets alot of more attention because of his name. I would like to see how these drivers of today would have faired against Dale, Sr. Richard Petty, Neil Bonnett, Bill Elliott, Cale Yarbourgh and Bobby and Donnie Allison, and do not forget the silver fox David Person. Now those guys were racers. Big T
  8. Nice Pics. The mountains of NC are beautiful. I have only been to some parts of them a couple times. It is totally different from the coast. Now that I think of it I have probably been to Florida more times than I have the western part of my home state. Big T.
  9. I am getting up early tomorrow and taking my wife fishing , then around 1 or 2 pm we are coming home, getting the grill ready and then we are going to grill some Yellowfin Tuna. Then tommorrow night we are probably going to watch some fireworks at some friends' house. This year is a little special for me as last year at this time I was facing spinal surgery, which I on August 3rd, and I really could not do much. Everyone Have A Happy And Safe 4th. Big T
  10. That does not surprise me. I use to work at Wal-Mart I had heard that our store had to replace a customer's engine because the TLE department forgot to put the drain plug back in the oil pan.
  11. I took my wif fishing Sunday evening after she got off work. I always buy her some nightcrawlers because she loves to catch bream. She tends to get bored if she is not catching fish. On this trip I bought some live Shiners to use for Bass fishing. I only caught one fish which spit the hook about 10-15 feet from the boat. I had tightened the drag during the fight which allowed him to do a tail walk a spit the hook. I did learn some on this trip though: 1. Leave the drag alone and 2. I need thinner live bait hooks and really do not need the split shot below the bobber. I am hooked on this style of fishing and am going back Wednesday. By the way the Bass was probably around a 4-5 pounder and my wife caught aroun 20 panfish. Big T

I hear ya RW, we needed the rain as well. We were aorund 8-10 inches below normal before the rain we had last week and yesterday. New Hanover County put it's residents on county water in the northern part of the county on a Phase 2 water restriction. No watering lawns, washing cars, filling swimming pools, etc. Punishable by a $1500 fine and being charged with a misdemeanor for vilotaing it. We are now back on a Phase 1 volunteer ban. Big T
  13. This place rocks I made the mistake of deleting my profile as I was going to do more saltwater fishing but I quickly changed my mind a rejoined. There are some good peple around here and they do not mind helping new members with advice on equipment and techinque tips. I have been on other forums where all you get is alot of flack and bickering. That does not really happen here, even with the Shimano Posse versus the world it is still all tongue and cheek humor. Big T By the way I am the proud owner of three Shimano spinning reels and two Shimano rods. However I do not know which group I belong to because I also own four Pflueger spinning reels. ;D
  14. I agree with Roadwarrior. For months I have been reading his posts on Yozuri Ultra Soft, I finally bought some last week and I must say this stuff rocks, it is soft and casts like a dream. I spooled another spinning reel up with #6 yesterday and I spooled my Abu Garcia up with 12# today. On spinning tackle the #6 pound seems to be the best, plus it has the same breaking strength as Yozuir #8 only a little thinner. I found that out only after spooling a reel with #8. Big T

There was supposed to be cold front that moved trough Southeastern North Carolina yesterday, hince the all day rain we had, but I do not believe it did any good. It is just as hot as it was Friday it not hotter. It was supposed to be less humid for Sunday and early Monday but it isn't. Oh well I guess it is better than freezing to death like it is in the winter. ;D At least the rain stopped so I can go fishing this afternoon. Big T
  16. $2.74 to $2.85 here in the land of high gas tax. I stopped at a gas station last week and they had posted on the pumps NC's gas tax compared to other states around us and at 30 cents a gallon we were almost double SC's gas tax at 16 cents a gallon. And to think they have better roads than we do. Big T
  17. I agree Carolina will be a hard case, I mean we are the second winingest basketball team in history, only to Kentucky who by the way is my second favorite baketball team. The ACC has stepped up it competion with the arrivals of Miami, VA Tech and Boston College. Just look at who won the conference last year, Wake Forrest, who had their best season in school history. Big T
  18. I agree with ncbass24, that is defianately an oyster toad. They are a pain, especially when they swallow your hook. Big T
  19. Thanks Flechero, I will give it a try. Right now I just need the weather to cooperate with my work schedule. Thanks Big T
  20. I keep my boat in my yard beside my house. Some of these posts only confirms my position on why I will never buy a house where I have to pay home owners association dues. Big T
  21. Due to a lack of patience per say with all the jet skis, pleasure boats, offshore boats and just plain ole obnoxios people that hang out in the overcrowded Intercoastal Waterway here on the coast.Fishing is suppoused to be fun and relaxing and I can't due either is the salt any more so I have decided to start Bass fishing more. I will be fishing a cooling lake that has stumps, as well as the river where I live. I would like some advice on what to use my rods for. Current Line-up: Spinning: 7Ft. Bps Extreme MH 6-14# test line, 1/4-5/8 oz. Fast Action 7 Ft. Shimano Clarus MH 8-17#, 1/4-3/4 oz. Fast Action 6 1/2 St. Croix Triumph 6-12#, 1/4-5/8, Fast Action Baitcaster Shimano MH Fast action, Convergence Matched with a Abu Garcia 4600C3 I may add another baitcaster Any advice or input would be apprecaited. Thanks, Tony
  22. My favorite team is North Carolina, but I also like Southern Cal, East Carolina when they are not playing the Heels and South Carolina just because I like Steve Spurrier. I hope Butch Davis can turn around the Heels, they should have fired the coach along time ago. Big T
  23. Thanks Flechero, I will definately try the 6#. When I bought it I was on my way to the Intercoastal Waterway for a little inshore action and thought that the 8# might be a little stronger. If they are the same then I will go with the 6#. The lake where I go Bass fishing has alot of stumps, but there are areas that are clear of debris. The lake is actually five differently lakes divided by dikes. It was created as a cooling pond for Progress Energy. The river is is a different story, it is a dark tanic water, does have some hang ups, I have not fished it much, but may start as I have grown tired of fighting crowds and getting aggrevated in the saltwater environment, too many pleausre boaters that do not know what they are doing. Big T
  24. What river are you fishing in ? I live in Wilmington, NC and when there is a heavy rain, i.e. flooding there have been Bass caught as far down as Snow'w Cut at Carolina Beach?. There are palces in Louisiana where you can catch Redfish,Flounder and Bass in the same spot.
