  1. I love straight FC and braid to FC. You just need to build up and work on a good knot that you can tie easily. The red Phillips is super easy, the Alberto is stronger and a little more involved but still pretty easy and the FG I find be the strongest but it'll take practice to tie it. Don't mess around with any other knots than these ones. Believe me, I've tried and these three options are as good as they come. I love power pro myself. It just works. I use 50 on my casting and much lighter on spinning. I typically always have a FC leader.
  2. Thank you brother. Much appreciated.
  3. Mostly 150 to 200. I want a tranx 201 bad but I've come to learn when you want and need something is totally different. I actually just passed up a good deal yesterday because while I really really wanted this reel, it wasn't something I needed. 200 sized reels fine with me. I'm a bigger guy with ginormous hands. Pretty much any reel melts into my hand.
  4. Thank you very much brother.
  5. Let me first start off by saying what is up. I am a tackle nerd, knot lover, reel loving, bass fishing SOB. I like putting tackle through it's paces. Another thing, I'm in recovery. I am an ex addict that works on my character as well as my defects of character. God is really important to me, without him I would be dead or worse. Is there anyone else here in Cincinnati? Any recovering addicts around these parts feel free to hit me up. Thank you guys
  6. If you are happy with mono just stick with it. There's no sense in trying to be trendy fishing. Now, if you are trying to gain performance then we can start talking. Up until a year or two ago I was really into fluorocarbon. I used that stuff 100% of the time. But I also loved how braid felt and the sensitivity. Now I use braid to fluorocarbon leader and 100% fluorocarbon spools. In my opinion there is a ton of added performance going from mono to FC and braid. If you are primarily using lures with treble hooks you might actually not notice much a gain in numbers landed. I'm still in the boat that mono has its purpose with treble hook. But I also think a good deal of that could be gained switching from mono to FC. Also, you really need to get up on your A-Game with knots. Mono is very forgiving because of the way the material is made. Braid and FC are not very forgiving. If you need any sort of help let me know Aj
