  1. I started with a spinning reel too that was left hand retrieve so I fish that way all the time now. The make baitcasters left handed too, but you’ll be hard pressed finding them at your price point.
  2. I don’t even know why I set the hook half the time, but she was there ?
  3. what state and why??!?!
  4. I fish soft plastics 90% of the time. I catch almost all of them on trick worms and Ol monsters. Finesse worms and rage bug also get some action. I only fish GP, JB, and black. If i can’t get bit on those, I need to trailer.
  5. If I’m fishing the evening, first thing I’m throwing is throwing back a beer.
  6. Giants are supposed to be here... me finding them on the other hand.... I think the 65 has the equivalent diameter of 16 lb line, a lot of dudes flip with 20 lb fluoro so it shouldn’t cost me any bites.
  7. You know I bought it to punch, but I’m thinking it’ll be used more for the purpose you describe. There were a couple lay downs this weekend that I should’ve got into rather than just the outside. what pound line are you planning on running on it? I’d like to leave the 65 lb braid I got on it, probably would be fine.
  8. Fantastic rod, haven’t hung a fish on it yet but also haven’t been back to that particular pond much since. Ive been pitching a 1 oz weight on it and the rod doesn’t even feel the weight, the 735 I was using was already loading just from it hanging.
  9. Why is that?
  10. I think it was Wheeler that said he prefers to keep all his rods the same length to not effect his casting, I do the same. if they’re all the same lengths and I move up and down rod powers based off lure weight, i can stay accurate while switching rods.
  11. I agree. Just can’t say I put side imaging in the same plane as forward sonar.
  12. Interesting, my Seibert wired ties fall right out.
  13. Im noticing a lot of people banning side scan. Do y’all feel it’s too much an advantage? Looks like I need to learn to use mine ?
  14. works phenomenally for rubber banded tied jigs. wired tied jigs don’t like staying in the slots. Food for thought.
  15. Tried tatsu for a bit and felt it wasn’t my best option and opted for big game. I tested them by joining the tatsu against a test lower big game (12 lb tatsu against 10 lb big game) via uni knot and the tatsu failed first every time. If I hooked a giant I’d rather have it pinned on mono than fluoro, also helps I get respool for a dollar a pop.
  16. im not sure I’d pay the 60 bucks over the fury series for a frog rod, but that’s just me. I have rods from both lines, and the Sierra is better rod hands down but the fury’s are good rods too. For a frog rod the Sierra won’t put any more fish in the boat.
  17. Y’all have any luck on these on rigs other than the drop shot?
  18. I’ve caught them so silver I thought it was a striper at first in a black water river. While there’s factors I think that tilt the scales, I think there’s a range everywhere.
  19. Haven’t held a lot of rods but in love with my dobyns Sierra.
  20. it was long as heck. I appreciated the cliff notes to be honest.
  21. That’s about all I fish. Normally black water is only tinted dark, and the fish are used to it. I’ve caught on green pumpkin trick worms, but normally throw black/JB Ol monsters. Rage bugs good too. Spinner baits should also produce. Flukes too. basically anything that works anywhere else too. im assuming this is a cypress swamp, in those places the cypress trunks rule everything. Cast accurately and cover water. Take note of what trees produce bites, especially if it’s a good fish.
  22. I’ve enjoyed my micros so far. Much lighter, and obviously the form factor.
  23. Are you wanting the micro guides? The Sierra was my first with them, and I love them to be honest.
  24. Even though the Sierras are nicer rods, Nothing wrong with the fury line either. I’ve caught a lot of fish on them.
