  1. Netcraft still available? Or any catalogs or websites
  2. Good work, I used make pencil poppers cigar shape with spinners but only painted them white and red could not do paint work very well what kind of wood is best
  3. I used to buy from netcraft catalog as teen in the 70’s
  4. Never did anything on it either split shot or Texas rig much better
  5. A two inch double curly tail grub and a 1/0 or 2/0 hook weightless
  6. I use them for everything and exclusively but I’m light line 4 to 8 lb and small lures
  7. I agree go 4 lb line and the inch 1/16 or 1/32 oz ive caught more bass on the beatlespin than anything for bigger fish try centering Centering a pond: cast to the center of the pond with a 4 in ribbon tail worm either Texas or on a 1:16 oz jig head and let sink to the bottom then swim it to the bank slowly move all around the pond!
  8. We don’t have gobie in Texas or smb in most lakes far as I know, green pumpkin is very popular but how much is effectiveness and how much a craze or bandwagon sometimes color can matter but I think its rare, mostly it’s the manufacturers trying to make a buck with a huge variety of colors and lures and sizes too. there are 10 plus jitterbug patterns on the top of the bait and three on the bottom white yellow and black which side do the fish see and which side do the fisherman see? Who being caught fish or fisherman?
  9. I think red and white could be an injured shad, bleeding baits was big craze a few years back red hooks and all
  10. I used to keep 4 to 6 inch bass in a tank, don’t look like green pumpkin but Texas has mostly Florida strain bass
  11. Gills craws and shad the shad probably most dominate forage so shad patrerns for lmb and spots, but if smb it would be crawdads I prefer white in shad type patterns and black or purple in worms dont fish senko’s or creature baits much, confidence is a big part of it
  12. Yes for bass, I don’t think green pumpkin looks like any forage, crawdads are red and brown in Texas anyway, black with bright orange better match but only in a craw not worms There’s fisherman’s soap too
  13. You have oils in your hands that can get on lures and the bass sense it, I’ve watched videos about it, don’t know if it’s true or proven but it is possible, mosquitoes also two guys in a boat and there eating one alive must something to it
  14. All top water baits pretty much Imitate chasing shad don’t they, that would dictate shad colors sounds like rap ala on thier history of the lure site but I still say ra pal a its all good
  15. Split shot seems to have more control i fish light and small 1/16 or 1/8 and 4 inch straight tail but a lot of curly tails back in the good ole days when mister twister was boss and jig worms I forgot them small lead head on a 4 inch ribbon tail with constant retrieve was deadly
  16. Drop / split shots, floating, weightless, wacky, Texas, Ned etc. ive done well on split shot, floating, and fishing a weightless 6 inch ribbon tail around grass in summer, Texas pegged in pads and brush and on road beds. and a white twitch worm on riprap, it’s just a 4 inch straight tail on a small hook twitch twitch pause repeat
  17. Other strange methods that work every one fished crankbaits on riprap or frogs in pads or jig n pig in grass and heavy cover so I like to find something different, completely different action size etc. I fish pads and riprap bassackwards i fish a small frog, really a weightless dbl tail grub on a 1/0 hook along riprap and a big fat floating crankbait in the pads, edges and lanes
  18. Caught tons of white bass on Crome hot spots, but not any lmb on lipless baits why do they even make a lipless crankbait in crawdad pattern, the bait acts nothing like a crawdad? Why don’t the make a crawdad bait in a shad color? Go figure
  19. Never caught much on walk the dog, short twitch and pause or wake seems to work better at least on a rapala btw is it rap ala? or ra pal a? the ole timers always said the latter, ive heard tell of Huge strings on Toledo bend on large rapala’s back in the 60’s but then again you could have strings on TB on just about anything in the glory days of that honey hole
  20. Nasty, gotta stay focused for sure
  21. Adding chartreuse maybe simply make the lure more visible too and if some you fish with drinks or smokes that could be sensed by the fish, I don’t know of real scientific experiments on this subject Maybe your fishing a bait with an action that the fish perfered
  22. I’ve tied flies for trout and buck tails for bass but never made any soft plastics
  23. Another good riprap bait is white maribou jig 1/8 oz fished steady parallel to the riprap the tail swims like a shad
  24. Not in Texas as far as I know, crappie anglers fish 8 or more rods at the same time called spider rig, Back to bass, it really works I’ve caught lots of bass that way, once we had tied up our boats in a calm cove to eat lunch, I was fishing a 4 inch gold Redfin similar to a rapala and had left it tied on hanging over the boat about 10 inches from the water and as we were eating a nice size bass jumped out of the water and tried to get that bait. ive seen videos where a pro was fishing top water pencil poppers like a devil horse and caught lots of bass just laying it out there for 5 to ten minutes! I said it was a crazy method! I think that reflective silver or gold in a calm cove makes them crazy and hit out of anger, idk but it does work best in fall and winter maybe it imitates a dying shad
