The new Shimano ci4 2500 spinning reel
Do you fish clear or stained water? If it's even somewhat clear you need a leader. For the most part I fish quite clear water. I haven't had problems with p-line cx prem. breaking, maybe some line twist issues, I just figure that somewhat goes with spinning gear. I wish it came in just clear and not just hi-vis, or flurocent clear and green. With so many types of line and brands and each mfrg. claiming theirs is best, its a little confusing. A P-line rep. recommended I use their co-polymar line. A buddy says he uses braid and really likes it. Thanks for the help.

The new Shimano ci4 2500 spinning reel
I've never used braid before, I may look into it. whats the pro's and cons on braid? Does it work better on spinning outfits?

Predict Your Biggest Bass of 2010
Lets see in Indiana...my largest ever was a couple years ago on a small, hard to get to watershed was 25" 9lb. caught on a LC moonsault chart. shad crankbait. I would be tickled to break double digits.....10lb. 1oz.

The new Shimano ci4 2500 spinning reel
I picked up a Shimano ci4 2500 today at BPS and was curious if anybody has used one and what line their using with it? I've been using 10lb. P-Line CX premium my other spinning outfit and it seems to have worked out ok, any suggestions? It will be mounted on a G-Loomis sjr783 6' 6 " med. heavy fast action rod mostly for worms and soft plastics.

Crankbait Depth
http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/iaconelli_deep_crankbaits.html Line Size and Long Casts The use of line size and casting distance are two of the most important factors in deep-cranking. On average, expect about a foot and a half depth change with every line size change. The heavier the line, the shallower the crankbait will run. The lighter the line the deeper the crankbait will run. Knowing this you can use line size to determine and fine-tune the running depth of your baits. Lighter line like 8-10 pound test can help a bait achieve maximum death. Casting length also helps achieve maximum running depth of a crankbait. When deep-cranking, I always try to make the longest possible cast. But I always keep a reference on where I want that bait to hit. I try and keep my designated target a little less than half way back to the boat. This means you should always over-shoot your intended target when deep-cranking.

Group photos of some more cranks.
Nice work z. I like the one on the right in the top pic., and the craw patterns in the bottom pics. Add a little chart. on the belly of that bottom red craw and try it out at John Hay lake. Something about red/chart. drives them crazy, and its a clear water lake.

Big M balsa bodies before and afters.
Very nice work Z. I really like the bottom left and top right. The craw on the top right looks sweet.

Swimin super flukes
I picked a couple packs of these also at BPS. I haven't tried them yet, but I rigged a smokin shad colored on a KVD shad colored swimmin jig, it looks ok. Sort of a large profile for me. I may just try texas riggin one and pegging a small sinker. I like the looks of them though.

Polarized Sunglasses
They are not to cheap, but I really like my costa del mar fathoms 580 dark miror lens. If your thinking about a new reel check out BPS for any specials they have where you get a free pair of wiley-x when you order a abu garcia reel.

Zoom Super Hogs
I guess I've just overlooked them, I'll check them out my next trip to BPS, I go at least once or twice a week. I did pick up some Zoom super swim flukes my last trip. I also want to take a closer look at the Strike king rage smokin rooster that RW talked about earlier in another post, they look sweet.

Why not steel?
:-? I didn't even know they made steel, but I doubt I'd ever use it it anyway.

What are you going to try in the new year?
I've got quite a few things I really need to learn or get better at, some of I know nothing at all. I just hope I don't try to much at once, or in a short time and get overwhelmed, or not perfect any. But, here are some lures I plan on trying more of: (1) Senkos ...I've heard too much good about them and I've got to learn this method this year. (2) jigs ... I just have never done good on jigs, Ive got to give them more effort. (3) spinnerbaits... I've had limited sucess on them and need to be more patient. :-[

Best of the best Japanese crankbaits...
JDK, it can be very addicting and expensive, and fun too

Still more weekend cranks
Hmmm... I like #3 the best and then # 4, no, # 4 1'st. and then #3, no, its a tie . Good work Marty.

couple cranks I carved
They look good so far Gman.

More cranks
Nice work again Marty. I think # 5 is my best pick this time. # 3 looks like the mutted Dolphin color I recently got from you, ahhhh man its bad!

Are custom painted hard bait better than original?
I think its more the action of a custom made crank than the color. If a custom made balsa bait has more wiggle or more wobble at a certain depth it can be a great advantage on certain days, and then a certain color may help also. I've been adding custom made balsa and Japanese crankbiats to my box and got some new ones to try out this spring. Besides, they sure are pretty ;D

Had a couple days off
Very nice paint job Z. I really like the craws patterns, in pics# 3 & #6. I'm really thinking a few Indiana bass will really go for them colors. I do quite well on a couple local watersheds on red/chart. colors, even though they are clear water lakes. Nice work.

More finished cranks
Very nice work Marty. Although your pics look good, I was even more impressed when I actually received my lures from you, outstanding quality. I can't wait to try them out this spring.

Guaranteed To Catch Bass
I just discovered this post. Great post RW and all that has contributed. I'm going to try these suggestions this spring. I've added the post to my favorites. Thanks

Best of the best Japanese crankbaits...
Jon, I've really done very good on the Megabass md-x and mr-x Aka Tora color, (but not many of the others), so I had to get one of the Megabass vibration-x ultra silent in aka tora to try this year.

Bank Beatin Gear
Thats a nice assortment of soft plastics , you better hide about 3/4 of that from the Mrs., that way you can always say you don't have enough ;D. When bank beating I take 2 rod & reels and a downsized tacklebox. I'm looking for a real small box that would be even easier to carry, or put in the pocket of my waders. My plano 737 is too much to haul around.
