Frog Fishing Setup
I think i have decided on the Kistler Magnesium Jig n' Toad Special 7' Heavy fishing rod with either a Zillion or a Revo SX-HS with some sort of braid. I was looking at Kistlers forum, and people seem to like this rod. Has anyone on this forum used it?

Frog Fishing Setup
I am looking at getting a setup specifically for frog fishing. I have been looking around and i think i have decided on the Quantum Tour Edition PT Signature Series "Dean Rojas" frog rod. I was also looking at the G-Loomis Frog rod, but unless i find a good deal on this one, it is a little too pricey. For a reel i am looking for something in the 7.1:1 gear ratio, possibly a Revo SX-HS. For line, some sort of 50-65lb braid. I am open for suggestions on what others use and like. Thanks Jason

Kayak and/or Canoe fishing
I have been fishing in a friends kayak lately, and its an extremely stable fishing platform. You would have to try very hard to actually tip it. Like Avid said, it is rough on your back. Having you feet straight out like that is brutal on your back.

PETA's new Billboard
Just happened to stumble across this website. It is an anti-fishing website and sponsored by PETA. The site is pretty ridiculous, and their new billboard is absurd. Its good for a laugh, so check it out. Make sure you click some of the tabs, they are even more ridiculous. http://www.fishinghurts.com http://www.banned site/pdfs/dogfish.pdf Jason

Ideas For Money For Fishing Rod
Yeah i bought a lawnmower at a yardsale at 11, and started my own little grass cutting business around the neighborhood. I only had like 2 or 3 regular customers, but i got a lot of business when people would be out of town for a week. You live in Michigan, what about shoveling snow.

VA/NC gathering?
Yeah i may be interested, depending on what date. But i have pretty much put down the fishing poles, and started hunting. I would think early spring would be a better time. People are enthusiastic to get out on the water then.

Father and son private pond outing
You need to get back out there and catch some of those 7 and 8lbers.

new daiwa megaforce baitcaster
I got one like 3 weeks ago. So far i have been very impressed with it. It is a steal at $59, it seems like it should cost a lot more. It casts a mile, and is pretty smooth. The twitchin bar works just as advertised. I have been mainly using it to fish jigs. I have a pond in my backyard, and was just messing around throwing some old fish food we have had laying around for years, when i noticed that the catfish in there were coming to the surface eating the food. I threw some breaded chicken on a hook, and ended up catching two 10+lb catfish on this setup, and the reel handled it just fine. I currently have it on a old BPS bionic blade rod. I really dont like this rod, it is extremely heavy. If anyone else has this reel, let me know what kind of rod your using, and how you like it.

Greentop in Ashland, VA
Greentop needs to put up a sign on the interstate, to capitalize on the traffic on 95 (We all know there is an absurd amount of it). I do not recall ever seeing a sign(maybe i missed it), but i am pretty sure their is not one. While they probably wont loose current customers to the new chains, they are just missing out on a ton of potential business. I don't know, maybe they dont want every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the store. They also could really do a much better job on their website.

Keeping a bass as a pet?
I know a kid that has a bass in a huge fish tank. It is pretty fun to watch him eat. You drop a goldfish in there, and it literally lasts less than a second. As soon as it hits the water it is gone.

Greentop in Ashland, VA
I went up and checked out the new Gander Mtn last week, spent about 5 minutes in there, before i went to Green Top. Basspro and Gander Mtn, don't really compare to Greentop. Selection is much better, no noticeable price difference compared to big chains, customer service is top-notch. As soon as you go by the counter in the fishing section, you have got 3 guys asking you if you need any help and their staff is extremely knowledgeable. I ended up purchasing a new shimano clarus rod, a daiwa megaforce with the twitchin bar, and some soft plastics. The daiwa megaforce is a steal for 60 dollars. The thing casts a mile, and the twitchin bar is pretty cool. As of now i really like it, we will have to see how it hold ups after a couple seasons of use.

Trick Worms
They have a bunch of new colors out that i really like. They have a "Limited Edition" sticker on them. I dont know how limited they are, but i have good luck with Alabama Craw color. I typically fish them weightless, shakey head, and they also work really well using a weedless hook over weeds, grass, myofoil.

How often do you fish
When the weather is nice i usually fish 3-4 times a week, for a total of about 15 hours a week. I typically fish from the bank, wade in the river, float in a kayak, or take out a small jon boat. Based on time constraints i would drive upwards of an hour, or just simply go fishing in my back yard. Now that hunting has kicked up (deer, duck, dove, goose), i switch gears and do very little fishing, except for a couple trips to do some striper fishing.

Two questions about Record sized bass.
In VA, to have a fish registered by weight, you must take the fish to a certified weighing station (they are at gas stations and tackle shops) and have it weighed. So in VA, to have a fish certified by weight, i think you would probably end up killing it. I guess if you have a boat with a live well you could transport it to a weighing station in your live well, then return it. I still wouldn't think its chances for survival would be very good. To answer you question, if i caught a fish that i thought was the state record (its weight exceeded the state record on my personal digital scale), i would have no problem keeping the fish. I would want the state record, and by keeping the fish hopefully would guarantee that my record would stand for years to come.

Carrot Stick came in. No really. **PICS**

Trailer hooks?
I take the tubing cut a small piece, and place it over the eye of the trailer hook. I then take the spinnerbait hook, and run it through the trailer hook w/tubing. You can rig it with both hooks pointing up, or with the trailer hook pointing down, i have had success with both. I know some people favor one way over the other.

measuring the fish
Virginia- Flat surface, closed mouth, pinched tale lobes. I am pretty sure, this is the official way to measure freshwater fish. If you don't close the mouth or pinch the tale lobes, it makes your fish seem a lot bigger though. For example the fish in my avatar went 26 inches without the mouth closed or tail lobes pinched, only 23.5 when measured properly.

10minute outing
I never thought about taking a picture like that. is your camera resting on the ground or on a tackle box.
