cool, how did you get to the filter? Where do you click and can you do it for baits to? Like show only 3-4" topwater or? Thanks!

power poles in the way of casting
Thanks guys, I will have a trolling motor with spot lock on my new boat, but if your near shore in shallow water and get hit by a wake, I imagine your boat is gonna move quite a bit then take you back to the spot, but how far do wakes from 25 foot boats throw you all off spot lock usually before it brings you back? That would help inform my decision. Also it's really the combo of the T-Top and poles that make the issue, if there were no t top it would be no issue. Thanks again

power poles in the way of casting
I've got a T-top on my boat, looking at powerpole blade (use for both FW and SW). Problem is there wont be much room to cast with powerpoles added. it's 68" vs 55" (10 and 8 ft) versions, I am thinking the 8 footer would be better, or do you all think that the 8 footer with t top will make to it hard to cast in the back? Maybe if I did one 8 footer only, on which side would you put it if you were to do only one, port so can side arm cast over motor from starboard side? Also, an 8 foot powerpole, I imagine it doesnt work in 8ft its max, how about 7 or 7.5 ft? I could nix the idea entirely but just want to hear your thoughts. And will one keep me stationary, how big of a wave will throw me off?

36V trolling motor battery run time
I know that my 36v minn kota has a max draw of 52 amps at full speed and my battery has about 105ah. But for the average boater on the average day (on a 20 ft fiberglass boat) how many amps are really being drawn per hour? I'm trying to figure out how long this motor would run and 105/52 which is just over 2 hours but I know in reality these motors don't run at full speed and other threads seem to indicate 105 ah batteries lasting a lot longer. So what is a realistic average draw and how long do you see these batteries lasting? I used motor for following contour back and forth, spot lock, and just pedaling around.

Rod holder suggestions
Thanks, here's a pic of these rod holders, wonder if they make adaptors that fit in there. Which scotty holder do you like most and why?

Rod holder suggestions
Got a 20 foot boat always used in saltwater, it's got open tubes in gunnel for rod holders, will freshwater sized spinning rods not sit nicely in these? Don't have boat right now so can't try it but it seems to me the rod would drop in and would only be stopped by the spinning reel. Should I get new rod holders? Also, have any of you had rods come out of holders? I know there are some with a sort of locking mechanism, which is the best one of these?

powerpole dual controllers
One more thing, do powerpoles get in the way of trolling lines. My rod holders are about 2 feet from transom.
-
powerpole dual controllers
Noob question, I am going to get the in dash control for my powerpoles, can I also add the CM2 foot units in the bow and all of them still work? Adding the second foot pedal controllers is an easy pairing job right? How often do the foot pedal batteries last?

Big Water Boat Suggestions
I fish a pretty large lake (~80 sq miles) and often fish offshore. I get tossed around way too much in my 16 footer when I'm spot locked on a hump in the middle of the lake. The lake is rocky so I think aluminum would be better in case of a bump but I am pretty careful so open to anything. I also worry about large wakes swamping me. Something stable 20-22 ft with a draft less than 13 inches. Any smaller outfits making great boats I may not have heard of?

Braid Sticking on Spinning
Gotcha thanks, one more question. I see you have a nice ball handle on this reel, did this come with? My shimano came with a small handle and I tried replacing it with the gomexus knob but have had some issues with it moving, is this an after market arm/hand/knob?

Braid Sticking on Spinning
You could also just spool some cheaper thicker backing or just use more braid sorta waste the inside braid right?

Braid Sticking on Spinning
Does Daiwa or Shimano make these? Not heard of this.

Braid Sticking on Spinning
Is KVD L&L usually used on just fluoro or also on braid? And how often do you use it?

Braid Sticking on Spinning
Hehe I have 8lb tatsu right here actually, yet to spool it on, I had 10lb sniper but memory was still issue, annoyed the hell out of me when it got bad

Braid Sticking on Spinning
But since I use spinning gear mostly I have the problem of memory w fluoro

Braid Sticking on Spinning
Sometimes when I cast my spinning rod the braid seems to catch onto itself or not come off the spool for some reason, seems to get a little better once wet. I have read to go larger (at 20 now go 30?) Also are there braid brands/types that are less likely to do this, please recommend!

Line Memory Questions
So for less FC memory, I want a reel with a larger spool arbor right, not outside? Like a 4000 size? In other words is memory lessened with a bigger arbor (inside) or diameter (outside)? Inside right? I use 8 - 10 lb FC FYI

Line Memory Questions
I thought the pull and boat thing were for twists, but they work on memory too?
-
Line Memory Questions
Ok so memory and twist are different, thats helpful. Will the videos I referenced remove the coil like shape in flourocarbon (the boat troll and on land swivel and fixed object and pull)? Or is this removign twists only?
-
Line Memory Questions
I've seen the vids by the guy who runs this forum but have some questions. 1. Is a coil just a large twist? I ask because people talk about removing line twists when (I think) they are referring to the coils from memory of spinning reel spool. Are these really the same? I always though of twist like when I watch my lure in the air turn round and round and then undo itself, but it seems different to me than the coils formed from my spinning reel but I am probably wrong, are these things really the same and are they fixed by the same methods (free line boat troll and snap swivel to fixed object pull)? 2. With the boat method, if I have a little snap swivel on anyway, will it still work or will be a problem, not suggesting doing it on purpose just if I need to remove if its on my line already? 3. Last Question, how long will these methods work? Will coils show up again like 48 hours later after being on my spool or will they be small for a while and how long until they get bad again roughly, just getting an idea how long this works. Sorry I need to add a 4th Q, lol its getting long - a larger reel size can reduce line twists I have heard. Is this caused by a larger inner spool? Like how big the diameter is of the inner tube? Asking because I see a 2500 and 3000 shimano but I think the inner tube diameter is the same, one just goes out further w the top lip. If it were the inner tube that makes the difference then this increase would not matter and I would only get the benefit from a 4000. Or is the space between outer line and lip of spool thing?

Baitcaster Backlash Question
I had not thought of applying my thumb when reeling in slack because I figured the line is still slack and the no tension line will still form loops right, how does this help?

Gomexus Knob users - Help
I got a 35mm gomexus power knob and installed it per instructions = starting with empty shaft 1. Washer (they give you super thin ones) 2. bearing 3. attach inner handle 4. add bearing 5. put in screw through bearing and tighten 6. screw 2nd bit of handle. BUT you can pull up the handle on the shaft just a bit which is annoying, there's just a little play, but feeling the handle not be tight down is crappy. Thing is if I add a second washer in step 1, the handle will loosen itself when it spins which is weird because the washers are ultra thin, I dunno if its a friction thing of if the washer moves it up too much but it is weird.

Baitcaster Backlash Question
1. New to baitcasters, after bait land in the water sometimes there is a little slack when I first start reeling, I think this reeling of no tension slack line is causes loops in my spool, does that sound right and do you have to apply tension always, so never reel a baitcasters w slack line? 2. Also when I do see loose loops in spool, I pull out line to get them out but I swear this forms new loops, I put my finger on spool to slow the pulling out of line although it takes some pressure fighting the drag so I dont know if I need to do that with the thumb but anyway, does pulling out more line cause more loops or why is this happening to me? Thanks!

Drop Shot Weights: Tear drop or pencil?
Why do most of the manufacturers make the weight eyelets so that you slip the line in somehow, why not just tie a knot? is there some reason not too?
