  1. I'm against FFS, but that's cuz I'm a poor SOB that can't afford it haha But in all actuality, its just another tool in the Bass arsenal to help LOCATE fish. I feel FFS gives a sense of confidence that once you see the fish, just throw everything you got on your boat and there's probably a good chance you'll catch it. That's just my poor opinion.
  2. This sounds like a good alternative. When I ran a hole through my yak, I plastic welding it and hit it with Gator Guard. Haven't had any issue with the gator guard and its been almost a year. If something changes, this'll be my next fix if in a pinch. Here's what I got; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BGQAC0E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  3. Nice! Will complete an order little later today!
  4. Work isn't on a lake, but I have lakes all around me. Got about 5 different spots I can fish all within a 10 minute drive.
  5. I'm using this one bought off of amazon, has worked well for me and my 08 Audi that has a glass sunroof. Been on the highway many a times, just make sure to strap'r down real well or you're going to have a bad time. Also, it was roughly $20 cheaper when I bought it. Whenever the inflatable tubes inside the fabric decide to never inflate again, I plan on replacing them with pool noodles. Granted, my kayak is 70lbs max so I just heave-ho it on top of my car. As for loading your chunky unit, I'd just lift one side onto the trunk and then lift the rear up. Can use a towel or something to help slide it up and on top of the car. 6. There are some pretty cool cats in this place, that's for sure
  7. I've thought about swapping trebles out to singles, just haven't yet. One thing I do is crush the barbs down, either treble or EWG hooks. Makes releasing fish much easier on both you and the fish. Can't think of anytime I've lost of fish because of the barbs, just me being dumb and excited I have a fish on the other end of the line.
  8. I'm definitely a big baby when it comes to the cold. As soon as my hands can't be warmed back up, I'm done. Downside, I have to have my bare hands on the rod/reel. I haven't found gloves thin enough for my liking. I've got a couple rechargeable handwarmers and they do the job only so well, gets me a few more hours on the water though.
  9. May get some poop for saying this but I'd get a Lifetime Tamarac or Teton then use the rest of the money for a solid PDF and paddle. They're definitely budget fishing kayaks but its within the price range. Granted I got mine for free, I've got the 10' Tamarac and does a great job for me, I wouldn't trust it out in treacherous conditions but I've gained the confidence to be able to stand and fish during calm times. Or, ya could get lucky while scouring Offer up or Craigslist, keep an eye out. Oh, my main use is smaller lakes where motorized boats aren't allowed. Best of luck on your adventures.
  10. I got gifted the yak by a coworker and living in a small apartment makes it so this thing basically lives on my car. Only time its taken off is for long road trips. I'll tell ya, its worth the hassle given the places I can now fish.
  11. 08 Audi A3. Great for city parking and can fit all the necessary gear.
  12. I usually take a hiatus come the winter months, not because of frozen lakes. Because I do not like the cold, no matter how much I bundle up. Once the hands are cold, I'm useless.
  13. Well hot dang, I do not know why I could not figure that out myself haha I appreciate your words and will be implementing them ASAP
  14. How I have my anchor line attached to the anchor, I don't think I could get away with that. I have mine setup somewhat like this just incase I get the anchor stuck in a fallen tree. Couple lakes I visit have big trees and have almost got stuck on them before.
  15. This is exactly what I did. Mounted mine to the inside of my milk crate to keep everything nice and tidy and I can deploy on either side of the yak. Only gripe, sometimes my paracord can get twisted while retrieving because of how my anchor spins while I'm pulling it up. Aside from that, and still learning how to properly anchor while getting blown around, it works fantastic.
  16. All good points and appreciate the feedback. Next time I'm out and in the same scenario, I'll be sure to switch it up and make moves. As long as I'm on the water making casts I'm just happy to be out there catching whether it be dinks or bigguns. Granted fishing in WA anything over 3lbs is a biggun to me.
  17. Yesterday I was on a roll catching dinks off shallow (1-3ft) wood near pads, I don't mind catching dinks but I was on the hunt for the girthy girls. While I was on the water, I thought to myself am I just on a small fish pattern? Did I need to switch it up more and get out of my shallow ways?
  18. Being in the PNW, our Bass don't thrive as they would in the South. Our biggest is a whopping 12.5 pounds. My personal best is around 4, I'm so close!
  19. I always say to myself that I would like a kayak fishing buddy, but then I realize I don't like people and love my solitude. That's why I got the yak in the first place, to get away from it all.
  20. I like to stay within a 30 minute drive if I'll only be our for 6 hours or less on the kayak. Living in the PNW, its really nice having a plethora of lakes to choose from.
  21. Flukes are my go to dock skipping bait. Have one tied on at all times, no matter the weather. Only thing that may change is putting it on a weighted hook to get further in the water column faster
  22. Lily pads and docks are my go to since I suck at fishing anything standing timber related. Anything shallow that looks juicy will get a cast or two or 17 thrown at it just for the heck of it.
  23. The thought of having it all "come together" is like a crazy dream. Hell, even when I do dream of fishing, I'm still losing fish.
  24. I've found plenty of lures in trees and on the shore which I will always take, but If I found poles or something of value I would leave a note with contact information where I found it. may be the cynicism in me, but I don't feel like others would leave info and just take it for themselves. What's that old saying "finders keepers, losers suck"? Something along those lines.
  25. Were you in the wrong joining him in the cove? I don't think so, sounds like you gave plenty of space. He was probably just upset someone joined him in the cove. Personally, I will avoid people as much as possible. If your within shouting distance, you're too close for my liking.
