  1. Dang! Whats the normal price on that? I have a Cabelas nearby. What size XT LE do ya have? What line are ya spooling on it? Thanks!
  2. Looking at getting a new rod for spinnerbaits and chatter baits fishing from shore. I will be tossing 1/2-1oz for SM. looking to spend 120 or less on a rod to pair with a KVD Smoke S3 im going to be getting. I already have a Veritas 7'0 MH/F that i picked up for pretty d**n cheap this year....would that work? Other Suggestions? Thanks!
  3. Yeah i fish fairly clear water here in NV as well. I have flouro on my finesse setups but have braid on my baitcasters, albeit im fairly new to all the bass fishing...mainly trout locations up here in Norhtern Nevada What rod do you have that on? Biggest SM ive caught here was 3lbs and rarely do i fish any sort of heavy cover
  4. This may be perfect then, as i got the MGL for all my lighter lures (lots of medium sized smallmouth where i fish). What line ya got on yours? Awesome! May have to pull the trigger on it then. What line ya running on it?
  5. Anyone have one of these? Curious your thoughts on them! I have a guy locally thats selling a couple new for 70 bucks a piece and I am debating buying one or two. I have an SLX MGL so im thinking maybe grab one of these for heavier baits, topwaters, etc. Thanks!
  6. Finally decided to give braid to leader a try on my 2000 size spinning/finesse setup. Looking at doing 10 or 15lb braid but curious what brands everyone likes? I will be fishing from shore and mainly tossing drop shots/neds in a rocky bottom environment. I have some 8lb blue label FC and 6lb Mono I was going to use for leaders since I already have it lying around. Thanks!
  7. Picking up a Revros 2000 spinning reel to pair with a 7' ML rod and looking for line suggestions. I'm a weekend fisherman and will be using it from shore throwing drop shots, neds, finesse, etc. The lake I fish is very rocky so I often get hung up and break off. Should I stick with a quality mono or flouro? Not too familiar with tying leaders so I'm hesitant to use braid...not to mention I feel like I'd be spending lots of time retying leaders with as much as I get hung up out there. Thanks!
  8. Went and tried out the Revros at Scheels yesterday and definitely like the feel of it. They dont have a Legalis there to try out but i think im going to give a Revros 2000 a try!
  9. Why a 2500 instead of a 2000? Ive heard good things and lots of recs on the Legalis!
  10. Ill have to check it out...im not really in any hurry so may be able to catch one on some of the holiday sales coming up!
  11. So my buddy gave me a ML spinning rod specifically for ned rigs, drop shots, etc so I figured it was a good time to buy a budget reel for it. Im looking for something in the 2000 size and under $75. I have a Pflueger president on my MF rod and enjoy it. Scheels has a Pflueger Purist on sale for $52.99 that I was looking at also, and maybe a Pfleuger Trion (40.99) but wanted to see what everyone recommends! Thanks!
  12. Thanks JJ! If ya ever come to northern nevada I owe ya a beer!
  13. Appreciate all the great info!
  14. what about like 15lb braid or should i go with something like 8lb flouro? Another silly question, they only have 7.2:1 for gear ratio for left handed reels....will this be a problem for a newbie baitcaster like myself? I know the normal SLX has a 6.3:1
  15. I wont be tossing 1/2 oz too often, as most of the target fish around here are small to medium smallies. Mainly 1/4-3/8 baits. I was looking at getting one of the combos from an online retailer. I can get the SLX MGL w/ a 7'0 SLX M/M glass rod for 169.99. That should be a decent rod for light squarebills, cranks, topwater and misc other light baits shouldn't it? Obviously, not the most ideal rod but i figure i can always upgrade that down the line. Think i should do M/M or what do you suggest. I do have a 7'0 MH/F for heavier stuff if need be too. thanks everyone!
  16. So ive narrowed down my reel selection to the SLX and SLX MGL. Ill be using this to toss smaller baits like light cranks, topwaters, spinnerbaits etc from shore. (max 1/2oz). Is there a huge difference between the two reels? Someone mentioned the SLX MGL handle is smaller than the SLX so that may cause issues? Thanks!
  17. Yeah, its mostly going to be lighter baits (1/2oz max). Havent even got to the part where i need to decide on which line to use haha!
  18. Ive found a SLX MGL combo for 169.99 that may be a solid option. Im going to keep reading reviews!
  19. Pretty new to baitcasters, but have some specials available that I think i should take advantage of. I currently just have a Abu Garcia black max but ive expanded my rod selection (I have both a 7' MH and 6'10M) so why not get a new reel as well! Theres lots of smallmouth here and I will be tossing smaller cranks, spinnerbaits, topwaters, etc. Here are the prices for the 3 options SLX 151 - $74.99 + 10.99 shipping (Theres also the SLX151 combo for 139.99 + tax and shipping) Tatula 100HSL - $125 Shipped Curado 201K - $150 Shipped. Should a beginner pull the trigger on any of these? Will they be difficult for me to use? Appreciate the help!
  20. Ended up getting the Veritas for 49.99. Ill give it a go and see how I like it. Worst case, i can always upgrade, but for now, im still just learning the baitcasting side of things. Appreciate all the help everyone!
  21. I have a Dobyns Fury for my spinning setup and am pleased with it. Im just new to baitcasting (hence only the black max) so im still learning and will eventually upgrade to a nicer setup, but I was just curious if any of the rods that are significantly on sale would be good ones to add to the arsenal for the price. I currently have a Scheels Pro Angler Medium rod with the black max but was thinking of adding a MHF since the prices are low!
  22. If I go with the SLX I may as well get the combo for 139.99 but I've only had my Black Max for about 3 months and am still learning on it. Perhaps I just don't need a new rod, but I was thinking with these prices I should maybe swoop one. Follow up with original prices Veritas - was 99.99 now 49.99 Lews Mach - Was 79.99 now 39.99 SLX - Was 99.99 now 79.99
  23. Quick question for everyone. Locally, I have some rods on sale and i was looking to upgrade from my Scheels "Pro Angler" casting rod. Im just an avid bass fisherman who tries to get out as much as possible and will be fishing from shore 90% of the time. Im looking for something i can use as an all around rod, as i have a finesse spinning setup for ned rigs, drop shots, etc. Here are my options 2020 Abu Garcia Veritas Casting Rod - 49.99 Lew's Mach Casting Rod -39.99 Shimano SLX Casting Rod -79.99 At this price point, which one do you think i should purchase. It will be paired with a black max reel thats only seen a handful of fishing trips. Thanks!!
