The problem with Ranger Boat style trailers
Simple quick and cost less fix for that problem is a wrench and take it off and put it in the truck. And then rock out and go fishing.

Cool deal, seen a red ranger fishing one of my fav humps not for from my house thought it might of been you. By the park you say huh. Was it the humps on the east side of the parks boat run just after you turn on it from San Miguel' s main boat lane? If it wasn't forget I said anything bout them humps there ain't no fish on them hehehehe.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Hey y'all don't be catching all the bass now, I got to head offshore tonight for 21,y'all leave me a few to catch when I get back. Bryanhester, I bet I seen you today from my house, you own a 18 foot red ranger?

Why were they there?
I would put my guess on they were up there feeding on shad around the sea wall, and when the bite stopped they went back to deeper water. I bet there is a very small very shallow ditch aka old creek channel or a rock line there that leeds out to the main lake or a deep hole or ledge in the 8 too 10 foot of water range. Just my guess I am far from a expert.

Prop is bent or severely out of balance weight wise and or the drive shaft is bent. Question do you tend to hit things often with your prop and or lower unit?

Walmart tackle?
The Wal-Mart where I live tackle selection is a joke period. I do all my tackle shopping at the lil bait shop in zwolle or I go to Toledo town tackle, I can always find what I want at those two places. I have shooed for stuff at Wal-Mart but that is mostly at the end of winter when they put all the zoom plastics on sale for .50 cents a bag, it hit them up and clear out the worms, lizards and brush hogs in the sizes and colors I use.

Shallow crank hooks ripping out
I don't know I don't use red hooks. Look no one has to do this, I found the tip cool and it works just like the professional bass angler who made the video said it would, if someone doesn't want to do it they don't have too. The man asked for suggestions and I gave him the info I had that is working for me. I will post y'all anouther pic from a bass I just caught and y'all can decide for your self. One hook is under his jaw and the front hook is in the corner of his mouth, bad pic but that's what I took when I landed him.

Shallow crank hooks ripping out
Here you can see the size of the hooks I change out too, they are double the size that comes on most cranks. I use Bandit cranks 99.99% of the time. You can also see the scratch marks from where the bass or hitting the bait on the front end instead of the back end of the bait. Hope this helps yall.

Shallow crank hooks ripping out
I got the tip from a video Mark Menzies (sp) put out and that's what he does to his cranks. The way I know it works is I did it just as Mark said to do and what he said the bass would do is in fact what they are doing. Before I did this trick the bass would be hooked on the back hook only 90 % of the time I would say, since I started doing this yesterday 100% of the bass I have caught have been hooked by the front and back hook and the face end of the crank was facing towards the throat of the bass, telling me the bass is concentrating on that spot and hitting the bait on the head end of the bait. You can look up the video, the spot goes on the side of the bait just above where the front hook is mounted. I will get you a pic to show where they have turn up the paint with their tooth patch when they bite it on the head and not the tail end of the bait.

Knots, which ones to use and why
I use two knots. Braid- uni knot- guick, simple and strong. Mono-Trilene knot-guick,simple and strong. I never tie two lines to each other so I don't have a knot for that. Hope this helps sir, I'm of the kiss mentality. Keep It Simple Stupid- Kiss.

Shallow crank hooks ripping out
Most will disagree with me but here is what I would do and use. 7' mh with a 6.4:1 gear reel. 15# big game drag set high and a strong hook set and don't waist time getting them in. I change the hooks out to bigger hooks and add a small black dot right above where the front hook is mounted, make it with a black sharpie, the bass will focus on it and hit the bait in the head giving you a better hook set and make it harder for them to throw the bait. I like strong rods and strong line and set the hook like I'm trying to jerk their face off better to break my line on hook set then to watch a new personal best throw the hook because I didn't use a setup without enough a** and twinkled toed my hookset. Hope this helps you sir, like I stated most won't agree with how I fish my cranks but it works for me as long as I keep a eye on my hooks and change them when barbs start to break off.

Asking permission
First off good on you for doing it right and asking for permission to fish their ponds, seems most people now a days think if they see it they can hunt or fish it. I have never asked to fish someone's pond, but that's due to where I live lots of public water to fish, but I grow up in a area that has lots of waterfowl hunters and even though my family has land we always seemed to be out searching for land to hunt with permission of course, so maybe some of this will help you. 1. Be clean shaved and well dressed. 2. Might sound silly but fix your hair. 3. 1 and 2 combined to make three is look and act professinal. 4. Use proper english, no slang talk, you aren't in the hood. 5. Firm hand shake and direct eye contact at all times. 6. Smile and good hygiene, don't show up smelling like a numb or like a bar. 7. Be truthful and honest about your intentions. 8. Make them a deal, give them fish and offer to help clean around the pond, cut grass, pick up trash, or any work that should need be done. 9. It's a lil sneaky but always bring a child and are a good looking woman with good manners and well dressed. 10. Also something most don't think about wash your dang truck and don't have trash in it are pools and tackle sticking out of it, when you go ask for permission that gives off a image of I'm asking so you have to say yes. 11. Always ask for permission for just yourself and or kids and wife, never go full bore and ask to bring your buddy's and don't show up with all your buddy's that tends to set owners back as you app rich them as a group, might make them frightful of you. 12. Provide references, if it's a bigger neiborhood and you have permission for other ponds in the area and the owner might know the other owners ponds you fish, let them know such and such can speak on your behave on how upstanding you are. 13. And this is the most important of all, get use to being told no and still smile and be of good cheer and manners, later down the road in crossing the owner my strike up conversation with you and remember how well mannered youare and that will give you anouther chance at fishing his or her's water. Hope some of this helps you sir, this is the tatics I have used all my life to get permission for hunting so it should work for fishing as well. Good luck and tight lines.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Not sure my fish finder is kind of old and danky I have never picked up the thermoclines on it. I just try to use it to find the bottom contour I'm looking for and match it to my map then drop anchor and fish it up, down and side to side till I find them and how they want it. I'm still in the stone age when it comes to electronics in my boat.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Not sure I can tell you on San Miguel during the dog days of summer you can find them anywheres from 8 to 25 feet most any day. I think the reason the bass have been up shallow by my house and feeding like they have is because there is a huge water flow going on in SAN Miguel right now and it has the bass up shallow on grass lines plus the few days of cloud cover we had didn't hurt either. My 8 keepers from last night. Just finished cleaning them and the grease is getting hot.

5lber Spit my Lure....Again
Move up to big game 15# line, turn the drag up more and don't twinkle toe the hook set, set that hook like you trying to jerk it's face off. Doing this on a 7 foot mh action rod should give you a nice hook set. Others may disagree but for me I would rather break my line trying for a solid hookset then to watch what my be my next personal best bass throw the hook on me. Oh almost forgot make sure the hook point is free of the bait body so it can't slow down or weaken the hook set. Hope this helps you sir.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Thanks, they have been on fire up by the house on my favorite sand bar and grass line. They wanted the trap burned to the max speed along the grass line this evening. I literal couldn't crank it any faster then what I was and my reels are 6.4:1 ratio when they would hit it, it was like running head first into a stump, it would just stop and start jerk the rod around. I had to put a new trap on this evening because the paint had been wore off the one I took out the pack yesterday, the one I was useing this evening ain't looking togood right now.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Sad really sad, money is the rut of all evil and brings out the worse in people. On a side note the pattern is still holding this evening only change was the numbers were down but the size is way up, I landed twelve and keep my 8 all bass were between 2 and 3 pounds, I had 14 throw the hook on me and couldn'tfigure it out till I was packing to head home and noticedboth treble hooks were missing two barbs. So put some new hooks on and be ready for the morning bite.
