Not Cool
If it was me I would calmly let him know that posting himself with the fish I caught online and saying he caught it is not cool at all. And if he had a smart butt response are acted like he had a problem with you letting him know you don't like so called freinds acting this way. I would stop beingin that freindship.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Can't say I have ever ran into any slime like that up here. Now when I was living in my hometown in sw la and fishing the pool I did see slime alot and never really worried about it to much just throw it off when it got to thick and kept fishing. As far as the Bend goes the fish are really off the bank now that the spawn is over, so fishing deeper is were the most of my bites have been coming from the last two times I have been out. And yea the wind does mess things up when you want to fish deeper water, a few good anchors will help with that as I have been learning. The hot weather is coming so night time and early morning/late evening is when I fish the most. Hope this helps sir.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I fished day before yesterday, did alright on the early morning frog bite, then pulled back to a creek channel that was at 23 feet and had a great time teir caught 14, then later that evening went back to the frog and caught six more fish to end the day. Had seven that were 3 to 3 1/2 pounds the rest were 14 to 15 inch bass. Caught them in the creek on a Crig loaded with a watermelon red yum digger. Had two that came off down deep that felt reel good but my dumb self didn't think they were that good due to a very soft bite so I didn't set the hook like I normally do. Haven't fished the last two days due to the stupid high winds, seen a few boats moving around in it, hope they made it back to the ramp ok, we had three foot white caps at the bank in front my house today. Winds hit a high mark today of 57 at my house atleast that's what my kestrel wind gauge for long range rifle shooting told me and it's very accurate.

Gun
Ok first things first. You need to sit down and get your mom to understand and approve, then you need to take a hunter's saftey course even if you don't intend to go hunting, then you need to take a few lesson's from a certified handgun trainer at a range. Once you have done that and mom gives the ok for the gun and bye the way you can carry a sidearm for protection even though you are under 18 but there are some legel paperwork your mom has to sign off on and she has to be with you at all times while you have it on your person, atleast that's how it is in louisiana, I know because two of my children have pistol's, one's 17 and one is 15. You need to take a class on bear survival, it will teach you what to look for in a bear's behavior and how to react to that behavior and how to be a lil safer in bear country. A question you have to answer is what kind of bears will I run into and that will help answer what pistol to get. Black bear- 357 Magnus loaded with critical defense ammo will be more then enough. Grizzly- I would think 44 mag would be better, I'm guessing because we don't have grizzly in louisiana just black bear. A pistol is your last line of defense in a bear charge, and it will serve you better in a charge then a rifle due to its size weight and the fact that with training it will be a point and shoot type of thing, where you don't have time to shoulder a rifle and take aim at a charging bear. A 350 pound black bear can cover 50 yards of ground in under 5 seconds, I know from first hand experience. I have given you the best knowledge and advice I have but at the end of the day without your mother's blessing it is of lil use. Until you get set up with a pistol for defense of a bear charge remember your best offense is in numbers and sound, travel in groups of atleast 6 and make lots of noise at all times. If they hear you coming they are less likely to stick around, and if they do they are less likely to do anything if you are in a group of people. Hope all this helps sir.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Yea did the chain thing before not going back to it not in this lake. I use parachute cord for rope due to it is easy on the skin and holds a good tie off knot. I use a break away clip from my anchor to my rope, that way if the anchor gets hung in the millions of stumps and log jams in this lake I can simple put the boat in reverse and when I get it tight and the motor hits 1/2 throttle the clip breaks and I get all my rope back and don't leave rope in the water for someone to get in their prop. Reason the mushroom anchors didn't work so well is the bottom was all sand and because it didn't have any" hooks" are a shape that could dig in with the wind that day they just rolled on the bottom.

How to get lazy bass to bite in the summer?
Top water early and late and fish at night, maybe try small swim bait that is close to the size and color of what you see them eating.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
That is a good question, I haven't had a jerk bait tied on yet this year I may have to pull one out and work some points this afternoon and see what's up.

Most likely it was the wrong color and size ribbet. The size of the ribbet has alot to do with it, more then folks think. I only use two colors, black and red flake and white with chertruese feet. The number one factor is how fast you are reeling it back, that lil secret I think I will keep close to my heart.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I fished Saturday from first light till noon and landed 21 bass, seven were under 14 inches the rest were from 14 to 16 1/2 inches no hogs but good fish and a good time. Got the grease heating up now for the 8 I keep to eat for supper tonight with the family. Caught them on ribbet frogs around buck brush and grass.

The link above says it was already weighed and entered into the share a lunker program, as the new state recorded bass, seems to be legit to me.

What rig for plastic worm (late April/Early May Northeast
Any worm or lizard any time anywhere's Texas's rigged or Carolina rigged will work. Adjust movement speed and length of leader on Crig to depth of water and temp of water.

Man that's is huge, good on the man for catching such a trophy bass. I guess I need to stop playing around and go catch the new louisiana state record that I'm sure is swimming in the Bend right now.

Frustrated with other people fishing my pond!
In the first place what makes you think you have any rights to say how the pond is fished or inforce your views and ideas of how to fish it to the owner of said pond and land. If the pond owner has given others permission to fish the pond and he does'nt have a problem with them keeping some to eat and they aren't taking more then their daily law allowed limit then they are not doing anything wrong. You need to be thankful someone let you fish what they put hard earned money up to buy and build and stock with fish. So stop whinning and learn how to catch them with a diffrent bait other then the one you always use. And to add one other thing, you need to read a few books on how to manage a pond for fishing, if you don't take some out the population will grow to large for the water and they will eat out all the food and then guess what happen's next all your bass die off.

Spawning Questions Part 2?
They won't be there very long, best thing is use a white lizard, so you can see the bait get bite easyer and put it on the bottom and slowly drag it into the bed right under the fish and keep it there till it gets mad enough to grab it, soon as she grabs it set the hook, because she won't hold it for long she isnt trying to eat it, she is just getting it off the bed. Hope this helps sir.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Catt, if this post is to far outside of the scope of this topic and thread please feel free to say so are ask me to delete it but I have to speak up about something I just seen on the Bend. THIS IS A HELPFUL WARNING TO ALL THE FOLKS FISHING THE BEND TODAY ARE IN THE FUTURE, IF YOU ARE NOT IN A MARKET BOAT LANE DONT DO MORE THEN IDLE, DONT RISK YOUR LIFE ARE EQUIPMENT TO DO SO, PLEASE DONT DO MORE THEN IDLE WHEN OUTSIDE THE MARKED BOAT LANE'S. I just watched someone run at half to 3/4 throtlle past my house headed towards north Toledo Bend state park following the shoreline, in what looked like a 16 foot blue express boat, running that speed in any boat outside of a marked boat lane is just asking for something very bad to happen, people need to remember if you sink your boat other people have to come out to save your dumb butt and that puts their life's at risk. Again I'm asking please don't do more then idle outside the marked boat lane's. And if the person who I just saw do this read's this and it offend's you it should because you were being a fool, and atleast I had the heart to say something about your foolish behavior. Sorry for going on a rant on your thread Catt, I hope I didn't offend you to much with it.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Ok thanks Catt, I'm going to cancel my order and get that kind instead, looks like it would hook the bottom better then then old mushroom style I'm useing now. I have 50 foot of rope on mine, I use parachute cord on my anchors has a lil more shock and stretch absorption then typical anchor rope. And it doesn't take up as much room or leave a big pile of mess to get tangled up in in the boat.

Catt, What size and weight anchors do you use? I have two ten pound mushroom style anchors, the kind you get at Wal-Mart dipped in black plastic. I ordered two 20 pound anchors yesterday same style just heavier.
