I used to fish a pond in New Hampshire that was maybe 40 acres or so, which is quite a bit bigger than what you're describing. Anyway, the pond was shallow and had a lot of classic largemouth bass cover, but smallmouths were the only fish in it. It was awesome. Then this guy from Florida who summered on the pond dumped some largemouths in and they took over. I still remember catching my first largemouth out of the pond, and I was like "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" I fish for largemouths too, but that pond was so perfect for smallmouths. Anyway, I would think that what you are describing is a possibility, but it is true that smallmouths seem to belong to bigger water. Good luck.
