Are you guys talking about the setup they used at the Texas classic with the judge on each boat and them actually weighing one fish, or an all out catch measure weigh and record then release? That would be interesting.

Thanks guys it seems like the rod and reel combo is fine, with differing opinions on the line. I chose the braid for the visibility and sensitivity. If there are differing opinions on the line I am all ears.

I have owned many spinning reels from shimano stradic mgfi's to cardinals. The biggest thing is going to be personal opinion. I love shimano and that's just my personal opinion. If you spend $50 on a reel then expect to replace it in 5 or so years. I mostly fished mine in salt for flounder, reds and speckled trout. That said I still have a lower end stradic that has lasted 10 plus years with no issues. The $250 mgfi's is on a shelf because it's a rough reel now. Last year I purchased a bps combo ( pflueger president with bps rod ) and have no complaints as a matter of fact I love that combo as much as any other. I am not saying that my opinion is the gospel, by far there are way more experienced anglers out there. What I will say is to do what you feel comfortable with and be happy with it.

I plan on focusing on jig fishing this year. Right now I have a shimano crucial crc-x72h paired with a Citica 200e and 50# samurai braid. Is this good or do I need a different action rod?

Yeah he is. I felt just like a kid at Christmas, evn told the wife that I was going to sleep on the boat with my new toys. LOL

Big thanks to Kent a.k.a. Roadwarrior for my package. The wife called me today while I was at work and when we were secured I raced home. I will let the photos speak for themselves, but he went above and beyond. I was really wanting to get in to jigs this coming year and looks like I have enough to start. I am just overwhelmed at the kindness of the people here. Not sure what is up with the date on the camera time stamp, but they were taken today.

Geez. I apologize to all who just read that. I meant every word I said but I think I could have used a few more commas to butcher it a little more. Marty I respect your opinion more than you know. You are correct the BCS is 10 fold better than the old system, but it's still broke. I don' have the solution, someone much smarter than me will have to figure that out, but when you have good teams that go undefeated that don't get a shot, but a team with a loss still gets a shot at the national title then something is wrong. Add to that, the national title game is a rematch from earlier in the year it just takes away from some of the mystique of the game.

To me this is what's wrong with the BCS. LSU already beat Bama once so what's the point of the game? I am not sure if I will even watch it.

I am wanting the Pats to win ( that hurts to say) I need the donks to lose so my Chargers have a chance. That said I don't know if that will happen. The donks look good.
