  1. I've noticed much lighter bites since the cool nights and had to slow down jig presentation dramatically(almost to the point of setting the pole down). Switched to a carolina rig on 6lb. flouro(glass beads by the bullet weight) and wacked em' pretty good last saturday.I'm going to keep working the carolina rig for a while. Also the morning bite seems almost non existant, things pick up around 9:00ish.
  2. well I figured the shows creators being from rhode island and the show based there you being a fellow rhode islander could work some magic. ;D
  3. LBH you ought to try to use the "evil monkey" that lives in Chris's closet on the show family guy. He is usually pointing with great white shark teeth showing. maybe some tackle or something in his off hand. If you've seen family guy you'll know what i'm talking about.
  4. I second Halls. But make sure you get there early!! like pre 6:00 am at the latest. Parking is extremely limited and it is packed before 7:00am. Big time recreational kayak and canoe spot. I finished there the other day by 12:00 and had to wait about 30 minutes for people loading and unloading. The place is awesome considering the fishing pressure.
  5. I am heading up to Saco, Maine on sat. for a week. I plan on night fishing for stripers off the piers and the long breakwater at the mouth of the Saco River as the tides at night will be in my favor. I plan on using some chunk bait, clams, and thinking of trying some unweighted sand eels. Bait fishes are supposed to be moving heavy up there right now, with good action. Am i overlooking or forgetting anything? Does anyone know how long eels stay alive for? I plan on using the two bucket method for them unless anyone has any other suggestions. Feel free to give suggestions. all thoughts welcome! thanks in advance.
  6. Yup every weekend we have a "friendly". 6-12 people, 2 person teams, 5 biggest fish, 10bucks a person winner take all.
  7. I agree.I don't mind sharing the water with em, but do you have to do a TOP GUN style flyby at over 400 knots? Instructor in our boating safety class said jet skis are the only reason we were there taking the course. She said something like over 80% of all boating accidents freshwater or salt are jet ski related.that is why I keep a big pyramid sinker setup.
  8. I have taken her several times to witches woods and to a number of other places but those were out of my boat. The reason I suggested the places I did was they are the most kid friendly places around where you are going to be located. I would suggest the witches woods location by the outflow d**n because of a large grassy shore. Easy to keep an eye on the little one. All these places you can catch bass on senkos or other stickbaits( keeping it simple)If you elect to fish with bobber and worm you will have no shortage of action from bluegills to calicos to bass( even a good chance of bullhead later in the day/early evening)Roseland is great, shore access is a little smaller than witches but no biggie. But Roseland has trails and a nice playground which my wife and daughter absolutely love.
  9. If your looking to eat some of the fish you catch I would not be concerned in the least. I have consumed just about every kind of fish that swims up here and am not worried about pollution in the least. This is not the first time I have heard this. It is amazing how quickly RUMORS can snowball.I read the D.E.P. literature every year on safe fish consumption from connecticut waters and there are only a few places in the entire state listed as not safe for consumption(due to high levels of pcbs etc.), all of which are on the complete other side of the state. And further more if said pollution rumors were true myself, and my buddies would've had spare arms growing out of our foreheads many many years ago. Also, no offense taken
  10. Amos IS public access and is stocked heavily with trout
  11. Roseland is about 6 miles from Bungee. Senkos(or any other kindof stickbait)have been productive in orange pumpkin or green watermelon at both locations, natural colored jigs are not a bad idea also.
  12. I believe the park area is on the peninsula where the boat launch is. there is some decent fishing there. But otherwise the lake is very heavily developed, there isn't alot of walkable shore to fish. I think you would be better off on witches woods by the outflow dam. The shoreline there is a pretty good fishing. My buddies and I will usually go there for a quick non boating outing. If I had to shorefish locally anywhere this is where I would go. If you want to drive 10-15 minutes for other shore access I would suggest West Thompson d**n(lotsa shore access) or Roseland lake( nice shaded playground there for the kid)
  13. I live a few miles from Bungee. Excellent fishing and you should try witches woods which bungee flows into. If you can legally access bungee you should be able to do the same at witches woods. there is some shore access to witches by the waterfall that flows into witches. Also the discharge of witches is good nice mowed lawn. couple hundred yards of good shore access plus it is not too far from where you are. That is all for the immediate area. P.M. me and i'll tell ya some other spots you could drive to in a short amount of time.
  14. RW is correct. I have been using this technique for probably 4-5 years and cannot remember having any issues. it is a little harder on dinks but still can be accomplished with a little patience. Once you have done it a couple of times it becomes very easy and quick, even on 1/0 and 2/0 size hooks
  15. net bait paca chunks!!!!!!!!!
  16. i started my daughter at 3.5 casting worms (no hooks) in the yard then moved to water. She caught on quickly
  17. Putnam, Ct. I fish just about all H20 in the northeast corner+. Largemouth, and smallies almost exclusively
  18. I agree with not all digitals are equal. I got the berkeley to "get a pretty good idea". At work we do alot of weighing of parts light and heavy and I had our certified scale tech check the berkeley. He went through the applicable weight range and responded" holy#$%@ this thing is dead n&%*, I thought it would be close but not dead on".
  19. I weigh every fish over 12 inches (tournament min) for my fishing journal with general specifics of the conditions etc. A little excessive but, we don't have the monsters some of the southern and left coast boys seem to be hauling in. Up north here the seperation between dinks and big fish is a relatively small gap. Plus I fish alot of tournaments so when i fish for fun I pretend i'm in a tournament setting just to see what a stringer would be for that particular day. I use the berkeley digital
  20. This was the carp my daughter caught it was 10 lbs. 13 oz.
  21. my biggest of the year 4lbs. 4oz.

Wow, quick responses, Sam thanks for the advice as I cannot seem to read enough about fishing. I have been fishing all my life pretty much and have recently introduced my 4 year old daughter to this awesome sport. There really is nothing better than being out on the water with her and spending quality time together( for 4 years old she really has quite the attention span for fishing). On a side note I am altering my profile and can't seem to figure out how to add a picture to my signature and was wondering if someone could help out.

I just registered to this site and wanted to say hello to all, and compliment a great site. I live in northeast connecticut, I love bass fishing and hope to continue my "bass education" with aid from this site.
