  1. I just started bass fishing this year while living in Virginia and for the first 4 months I only caught one fish. After my job transferred me to Florida my fortunes definitely changed. My first time out I caught a bass and my success rate shot through the roof. One morning right after sunrise I was bank fishing at my local lake and casted to my left along the bank. The lure literally landed 6 inches from the edge of the bank. I thought to myself well that wasn't very good but still proceeded to give it a twitch. (black senko) On my second twitch there was a huge splash needless to say taking me by surprise. I let the fish take it and then set the hook. I could feel the raw power of the bass pulling and bending my 7' rod. Without warning the beast jumped from the water and came down with a splash causing my grip to tighten and my heart to race. I fought the fish for about 5 minutes and after successfully bringing it onshore I realized that it was the biggest bass of my life. I then realized I had forgotten my scale a short 50 yards away in my car. I looked at the fish then at my car back to the fish layed it down still hooked on to the soft grass of the bank and began the sprint. I retrieved the scale and raced back to the catch realizing with every stride that the fish wasn't there. As I approached the bank I caught glimpse of my rod and reel being pulled back into the water. I immediately dove like an NFL receiver catching a long bomb and grabbed the rod. Sure enough the fight was back on and the fish had used my disappearance to gain extra rest. The fight lasted another 5 minutes and I got it back to the bank. I removed the hook from its mouth and hooked up the scale. I watched closely as the number came into focus. 2.75 lbs...my personal best at the time. I somehow managed to return the bass to the lake while smiling from ear to ear and my hands shaking. That smile lasted for a while and even though I didn't catch another fish that morning I sang in the car all the way home.
  2. Hey guys, in December i'm going camping at Peace river for 3 days with 2 of my best friends as a going away trip. Ive been camping there at least 1-2 times a year for the past 7 years mostly in November or march and I've only managed to catch 1 small large mouth. Anyone have any advice they are willing to share. The water temp here in Miami during the winter differs from peace river quit a bit.
  3. Its hot in Florida right now and I cant seem to catch any bass from my boat. Or even hardly get bit for that matter. I've been trying to fish deeper and really only have time to fish in the evenings. I've tried d**n near every lure I have. What have you been using? How deep have you been fishing? Any advice would be great! Especially some advice specifically from FL anglers. Thanks!
  4. I just moved to Pensacola and was hoping for some help with fishing spots. Anyone know of good lakes or rivers to fish at. I have just been fishing at my in laws neighborhood lake. Thanks in advance.
  5. New to the forum! Anyone know any nice spots around the Wellington/Boynton area for bass? Thanks for the info
  6. Anyone in the Orlando area close to UCF know of any lakes that are good for kayak fishing for bass? I know a couple canals but I'm looking to expand my fishing area. Any suggestion would help, Thanks!
  7. I made a post before talking about how I found a pond near my house and tried it out to see what it was like. I couldn't upload pics for some reason. So here is an updated post with a link of the pictures. I was using a 1$ spinner from Walmart and caught my biggest bass which was a 9lb and then a 7lb 10 mins later. http://imgur.com/a/a6EHc
  8. hey I've never posted on here before but I thought someone could use this as an example for fishing these small ponds in psl. I fished a new pond around the corner from my house today and it is packed with bass!! I caught a 9+lb bass and then no longer than 10 mins later I brought in a nice 7lber. I was using a spinner and managed to pick up about 5 nice bass within 2 hrs. I'm using my phone to write this and it won't let me post the pics of the fish but I will post them some other time if anyone is interested.
  9. Here in central Florida the spawn is in full swing. Caught a handful of 4-6 pound class females and a ton of bucks. Spotted a giant in the 8-9 pound class range and gave it to my buddy to catch. Surprised I haven't seen any more Giants. Noticed that the majority liked to spawn shallower than usual. Caught all of mine lately on the Gambler Burner Craw. I fish mostly ponds and on the lakes I've noticed the spawn is mostly done with a couple stragglers although they do spawn all the way through August in certain places and can start as early as October on Okeechhobee. West Lake Toho had an exceptional spawn this year with a lot of big girls caught and all were insanely aggressive. Heard from pro "Big Show" Scroggins during practice for the Southern Open on West Lake that they were spawning so shallow you could cast on the bank, drag it in an inch and they would beach themselves to get it. How's yalls spawn doing?
  10. I am a minor league baseball player in Sarasota for the month of March for spring training. A few team mates and I have been searching daily for a nice pond or lake where we can catch a bunch of bass. We got all the rods and the lures. We have spent hours on hours researching, Google-mapping, and driving around looking for a good spot. We have had very, very little luck. We go just about everyday but none of us are from around here so we don't know any hot spots. I know most of y'all don't want to give up your secret spots but we could use a push in the right direction. Well only be here for just another couple weeks so any leads would be incredibly appreciated . I don't even want to tell you about how many hours we have spent casting from the shore til the sun goes down with nothing to show for it. We are getting desperate!! I've caught a couple smaller bass here and there but nothing worth talking about. all we are looking for is a spot to go to once and a while after games and practices in the later afternoon hours. If anyone could please please help us out or hook us up with a spot where we have a shot of actually catching a bunch of bass we would really appreciate that. I know I'm probably asking for a lot but we won't be in Florida for long and we gotta catch something!! Anyways, thanks in advance and hopefully Someone can help us out!
  11. What are the best tips and tricks to catching big fish from the bank in cooler water temps? Specifically tackle, gear, and times.
  12. Greetings everyone, I'm new to this forum and fairly new to bass fishing. If you all can give me a hand, I'm looking for fishing spots in the Broward County area. I've gone to the Silver Lakes Rotary Park and only been able to catch two small bass there. Also, what color baits do you all suggest for these areas? Thank you,
  13. Gonna be fishing Santa Fe lake looking for tips.
  14. Hey everyone, I have been really getting into nighttime bass fishing in southwest Florida. Ive been doing well on smaller lures especially twin tailed grubs. But now that the weather has dipped to the 50s at night and mid 70s in the day. If anyone here has been fishing for bass after 9pm, what has been the key to your success? Lure colors? Types of lures etc. However, I have used the midnight bass spinner bait with no luck. Im starting to feel that bass are not that active at night from what most people think they do. Ill wake up and look at the water, then again around 3 or 4 pm and bass will be swimming on the shore on the bank on an 85 degree morning. Id be interested to see what has worked for you all at night in Florida.
  15. If anyone has any spots they have fished on the southeast side of orlando airport please share. I have found multiple locations in lake nona with 10lb plus fish. Some of the ponds have never seen a plastic worm and the developments are just ripe at 8 years old. Narcoossee road is a gold mine. Behind the outback steak house is gold. If anyone else has any other spots please share.
  16. Im down here in Broward County and the Bullseye Snakeheads have been biting like crazy. I catch most of them on spinnerbaits with a trailer hook but I have managed to catch a few on senko worms. I was just wondering if they have been biting for anyone else and if they are what bait you are using.
  17. Hi all, I have been fishing the C-9 Snake Creek Canal for a while and I am looking for a change of scenery. Are there any canals anyone could recommend for a bank fisher? Safety comes in mind since I usually fish on my own. Thanks in advance!
  18. Hi all, I remember when I booked a guide, he told me sometimes you can participate in online tournaments. He said a lot of the times it was a one day thing. Do you guys know of these tournaments. I doubt I would win but it would be interesting some time to participate even if its only for bragging rights Thanks in Advance!

I was wondering do guys in any of these locations know of fishing spots in these areas or around them.In GA,I've found a couple of spots in Fayette,Clayton, and Henry county since those areas are as far as I usually go.Atlanta has been hard for me to find spots since staying with my mom during college breaks in a city.In SC, I tend to mostly be in Goose Creek,Charleston,Walterboro area because of family. In NC, I've fished the Greensboro,Burlington,Fayetteville, and Jacksonville areas.Burlington I have had a lot of success. In FL,I know a lot of places in Gainesville,Williston,Chiefland,Bronson,Jacksonville.I mostly be in Gainesville or Williston in Florida due to family also.Fishing is a real passion of mine, hopefully I can share information and locations with you guys and vice versa. 22. Hey all, I've been lurking for a few weeks. I live in the Tampa area, and mainly bass fish in the neighborhood ponds. I try to get out a few times a week to RELAX. Been fishing on and off for about 30 years.
  23. Just moved to Northern Jensen Beach/ PSL. Been looking at google earth for some spots, but the ones I was finding don't really turn up good fish . Been using Flukes, Spinnerbaits, and Topwater Frogs. Does anyone know any secret spots in the area for bass? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!
  24. As mentioned in one of my previous threads i have gotton some surf gear so i can go surf fishing. (12 ft spinning rod w/ 15lb mono.) I just have that fear that i will cast out and leave it sit there forever with no bites because as they say 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water. So... Where is that 10% of water? I've researched reading the waves to find sandbars, troughs, cuts, etc. But it seems too simple. I don't like the idea of using lures in the surf so i'll stick to shrimp or squid on the pompano rig. So my questions are where are the fish and how long should i wait before moving to a different spot?
