  1. so i recently got some gear to try surf fishing here in Florida. But i've never been so i don't know what rig to use, what bait to use, or what i'll catch. So far i'm pretty set on pompano rig with squid or shrimp. So i would like to know what my setup should be and if my current one is good or not. Also just for fun, what is your favorite fish to catch from the surf?

  7. I'm going to be in naples next weekend and will have the opportunity to fish 1 day. Any advice of where to go? Should I make the journey to okeechobee? Is there any peacock fishing close by? Any recommendations on lure selection or what the bass are relating to? Any help will be much appreciated.
  8. Hello fellow fisherman. I'm mike and i'm new to the form. I've been in Jacksonville Florida for about 4 years now and i'm starting to get back into fishing. I prefer bass and catfish. I've just started fishing in jax in may and haven't had any luck lately. I've fished hanna park and caught 2 nice mullet and a big blue crab but didn't get a single bite from bass. I've also been fishing the fish management area to the past 2 weeks off of university and st. Augustine rd but didn't have any luck there either. If anybody from jax interested in doing some fishing man just let me know i'm all in. Also if you know any good spots around town pleas share i'm willing to travel.
  9. Just recently moved down near Jacksonville, more specifically Sawgrass near Ponte Vedra beach. I was hoping someone could help me out by letting me know of any spots near my area, and what gear I should be using. I've tried fishing a couple different retention ponds inside Sawgrass using everything from jointed lures to plastic worms with no luck whatsoever the past two days. Any help would be much appreciated!
  10. Hello everyone my name is Grant and I've been fishin for most of my life, I'm 17 and thought it would be a great idea to sign up to bass resource. I mainly fish on my buddy's lake cuz hes got a sun tracker 'toon that we take out. The bass on the lake rarely get bigger than 4 lbs. (5 is my record :/) but they hit hard and fight even harder! I hope I'm doin this forum thing right, it's my first time. Cheers.

  12. This is my first post! I have a tournament this weekend at Lake Panasoffkee on Saturday Feb 8th. I did a pre-fish last weekend and had no luck. Caught one small bass on a Rat-L-Trap. I saw several bass in the outflow river, but didnt take the time to sight fish on bedding bass. Does anybody have experience on Lake Pan? If so can you give me some tips? Especially this time of year? Thanks.
  13. Has anyone fished in the ponds they have there lately? My friends used to fish there and catch hawgs, but that was a few months ago and haven't heard of anything in a while. So anyone live there or something and have a fishing report?
  14. So, I have fished for a while in the Broward County Area and have come up with a lot of bass. However, recently I have gotten more into bass fishing and have caught many small bass this year including bass as small as half a pound. I typically use a baby bass fluke by zoom, a horny toad by zoom, or some natural color senkos. Are there any good ponds or parks I should be fishing in the Broward County Area or am I not using the right bait ? I'd appreciate any advice.
  15. So there's a possibabitly i might have to move and florida might be the place. It's not up to me it's up to my dad. Im really going to be upset leaving behind some family, friends, memories, and can't forget my unpressured honey holes. All i've every know is Massachusetts. Im not entirely sure where the location will be. It will be south flordia. Maybe somewhere around Fort Myers. I know im moving down to one of the best fishing states, but my question is is there alot of places to fish that don't get pounded? Like smaller bodys of water under 100 acres? Where i live im used to fishing a different pond everyday. Some less than a 3 acres others around 80 etc... From what i've seen theres tons of places that hold bass, but alot of them are no tresspassing or private neighborhood ponds with little no uniqueness. Just round ponds with docks and vegatation. Again im only going on what i've seen or heard. Any help is really appreciated as fishing will be the only thing keeping me sane once i move lol. P.S Theres a possibility i could move on a pond as my father likes to fish as well. I got no clue, but are option are pretty open. I'd hate to move to a pond filled with lots of unhealthy dinks. Again thanks eveyone on bass resource and tight lines
  16. Hello all, I've gone to this small lake in southeast jacksonville the past 2 days and got 8 bass yesterday and 6 today. The weather has been warming up and the bite is definitely on! Just got a new AbuGarcia pro max baitcasting reel on a 7' med action Falcon Bucoo micro rod. Literally I used one 5xd StrikeKing crankbait and just worked it along the banks in shallow water and pulled up a ton of bass. Mostly just 1-2 pounders but a few nice 3-4poundrs. It's been kind of a long winter and a slow season so it was nice to enjoy my day off work and break in the new rod on 15+ bass in 2 days. I love this time of year Because the bass just light up on topwater. Still waitin for that 10+ pounder though! Tight lines, Kyle
  17. Just wanted to let everyone know the bite is on down in Palatka FL at the Rodman. Me and 2 buddies fished via canoe this morning between 8 and noon and hooked up with plenty of decent bass. We got 5 on the day, with the largest at seven pounds. My 2 friends even doubled up at one point, with a 5 pounder and a solid 3 pound bass. Both hit at the same time. They had to have been schooling and on the prowl. We used white flukes and watermelon senkos for shallow fishing the vegetation and what not. We had luck in deeper water as it got hot, just letting flukes and powerworms go with the wind on drop shot rigs. Anyone else doing good in the area?
  18. The TrophyCatch angler recognition program that started in Florida last October is going strong. It encourages anglers to catch, document and release largemouth bass heavier than eight pounds and provides rewards for doing so. Just registering enters contestants into a drawing for a Phoenix Bass Boat with a Mercury Outboard and trailer. Sponsors provide great gifts, and it's a great web site to see where and when lunkers are turning up. Report your catch and release for rewards and bragging rights, and be able to say "My Trophy Swims in Florida."
  19. I'm heading down to Panama City Beach, Florida at the end of the week with the family on a week long vacation and I plan on doing a lot of fishing. Living in Chicago, a 5-6 pounder is considered to be a trophy and will only come maybe 2-3 times a season. I want to make the most of my vacation and hopefully land a fish in the 10 pound range. I have been doing my research and the main thing that I have gathered is that big baits catch big fish, so I figured that my main approach will be to throw things like big T-rigged worms, lizards, and jigs. I'm open to all ideas, so any tips or techniques are appreciated. Also, is anyone familiar with this area? I know that retention ponds and ponds in gated communities are supposed to produce big fish, but I have never been to the Panhandle before.
  20. Hey guys, Does anyone know anything about Lake Seminole? I fish the college series and we have a FLW College Series Qualifier coming up on Lake Seminole on Mar. 24th out of Bainbridge, GA. Any advice will help. I've never been to or see the lake! Thanks, Ryan
  21. I am moving to Florida in a week. No more winter. So, job hunting, join a church, volunteer work, fishing, beaches, saltwater fishing, a little snake hunting, not in that order. I'd like to live on the SE Atlantic coast, but may not be able to afford it. I don't know anything about the Tampa-to-Ft. Myers area. Between Kissimmee and the Everglades the cost of living looks more affordable for me and full of bass fishing choices. My question is, which lakes are more shorebound friendly? I'd like to live closer to where I play and commute to work, the opposite of the way it's been the first half of my life. Not to stereotype but the pics I've seen make it look like if you don't have a boat you fish a heavily-used public pier or you take your chances with swamp, trespassing on someone's backyard, or alligators! Any advice on best lakes to fish from shore? Thanks in advance Chris
