  1. Hey BR, New video up on skipping jigs under docks, part 2 with an emphasis on mechanics, technique and gear is up. Hope you all like it! Thanks for watching, James N
  2. So late last year I was given a vintage Langley Lakecast Baitcaster and am having a hard time deciding what to do with it. I did spool it with some 10lb mono and gave it a whirl at a local pond but stopped because I just didn’t want to take the chance of ruining it. Still has all original parts, clicker switch still works and all. I hate to see it sit on a shelf but I don’t know if I want to risk breaking if. I just have a dream of landing at least one or two on it. Thoughts?
  3. Shimano,KastKing,Abu Garcia, Okuma, and Pflueger are just such examples.
  4. What's up y'all? Hope y'all have been enjoying a successful year of fishing so far. I'm working on a project, and wanted some input. Since this forum is so helpful I thought that I would turn here. Is there any one gadget, or item you would like to see or have in the industry that hasn't been designed yet? Let's hear it! Thanks for the input! Happy Fishing! Tight lines. -Rob
  5. So, I recently joined my HS fishing club. I haven't had much experience fishing (do cane poles count?). The club dierctor/coach was kind enough to offer to lend me some of his gear so I can practice. I'm willing to try fishing, so if I like it, I might buy my own gear! So I kinda would like to know some good beginner gear, just in case I do get into it.
  6. So in July I bought a Daiwa fishing sling backpack online from this store (www.crossoutdoorgear.com). I ordered it for a Colorado fishing trip for August. Well, its September now and I messaged the company several times throughout to see if they were ever gonna send the backpack. No replies for weeks now. Luckily, I was able to use the PayPal checkout on their website, and so today I disputed the charges. But the funny thing is I looked up their address and noticed it was fake! There is no business called crossoutdoorgear for that address! I even looked up their BBB profile and what do you know, the BBB can't contact them either. And unfortunately, I am not the only victim of this. When I buy things online I usually do some sort of research on the brand, especially if its a brand that I have never heard of. And a lot of my finesse fishing gear are from Japan. So I looked up their website on Facebook and Instagram. And from the looks of things they seemed pretty legit. Thousands of likes and followers on both platforms. But now looking back at some of their post likes, and older posts I now see that the number of likes versus their follower ratios does not add up. I also noticed the complaints on BBB and some other forums say that when you order from this company, you won't hear from them for the first month or so but if you raise enough hell they will send you something. It might not be the Item you wanted but they send something just to say they sent it. My guess is that this guy does not have very many customers to begin with, hence the very low number of complaints for this website. This is not the first time I've seen a scam but this guy blatantly frauds people and seems to get away with it. So I'm gonna do my best to help out the community and spread this so you guys don't get scammed. This guy sells fishing gear so watch out!! I reported to the FTC and BBB I hope whoever owns that website sees this post. Anyone else been through this?
  7. It seems that every year I'd find some new lure that I wanted to try, whether it be a new lure or old lure that has been out for a long time that I just discovered I always usually bought a lure or two that I'd never had or tried before. Last year I bought quite a few things, Teckel Sprinker frogs, chatterbaits, new spinnerbait brands, Whopper Ploppers, and quite a few hollow body frogs to experiment on to make my own Teckel Sprinker frogs. This year I really only bought the new Booyah Toad Runner and a Ninja Grass Blade for my Minn Kota Ulterra. I didn't buy any new rods or reels this year or any other fishing tackle or gear. I think I've finally achieved fishing tackle and gear fulfillment. I don't want to purchase anything more and I definitely don't need anything else as I have new lures in the box still. For Topwater: 1.) Whopper Ploppers 2.) Homemade Sprinker Teckel Frog (weedless Whopper Plopper/paddle tail frogs) For Underwater: 1.) Wacky Rigged Senko 2.) Nose-hooked Zoom Super Fluke I also use spinnerbaits quite often which and want to try some of the chatterbaits I have. What I have now has consistently worked pretty well in the lakes I fish. I do need to get better at fishing deeper though but I have lures for that too. But I really don't feel the desire to buy anything else....which is weird for me. lol. Maybe I finally beat the dreaded Bait Monkey! Anyone else reached Fishing Tackle and Gear Fulfillment?
  8. I've been trying to avoid reviving beaten topics but I can't seem to make a decision between the 852s NRX & GLX. Granted the $80 dollar difference isn't horribly great but knowing if there's a great difference in rods is the question we all ask (Non-owners of either rod). However, just curious on your opinions (owners of the rods) is there truly that great of a difference at only an $80 jump? Lastly, I can pick up the GLX now, on sale for 250, or do I pass and get the NRX? ***Both rods are most recent versions.
  9. Do any of you have the Deeper Fishfinder? I’m a kayak/shore angler and I’ve fished all my life just by intuition and experience but I think the Deeper might be an awesome addition to my gear. What are your guises experiences with it? I like the fact that it makes topo maps of the lakes and stuff. Is there a better Fishfinder for the price? I need something I can use both in a kayak and onshore
  10. I don't think my idea or way of sorting things is really all that interesting but my sister really wanted me to show you all so here we go. Please don't mind the red light in the picture as that is my heat lamp light for my leopard gecko tank. I will take my lure and anything with a hook and hang them on small tacs. By doing this i believe it helps with drying and keeping my stuff nice and organized some what. Also, I have all my hooks on a safely pin and this goes for all hook sizes. I'd like to hear what you all think of it.
  11. A recent conversation with a friend left me pondering a question: What is the number of combos a bank angler should? Then how do you determine the combos? Do you take all finesse? Grab two stouter rods and something light? Yes you might have quest it, I am a bank angler and currently sitting on six combos. When I go I never take more than three with and frankly it's the same two every time. Typically don't fish a lot of cranks just because it's hard to find areas that are weed free or crank friendly. I'd like to hear what the community thinks. Please refer to the questions above.
  12. Im looking into getting the daiwa tatula ct and i dont know what ratio to get for all around. Im looking into the 7.3.1 ratio but im woried im going to loose torque so im steering towards the 6.3.1 ratio but i just want to know what you guys think is the best all around do everything ratio. i have my curado in the HG and the x ship keeps the torque like a lower gear ratio but i know the tatula doesnst have that so what are your guy's thoughts?
  13. Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if you guys could recommend any specific hooks for mojo rigging. I plan to use a light wire hook because I will be using light tackle. I just can not seem to find much light wire worm hooks. I will be using zoom finesse worms (4 3/4 inch). Thanks
  14. I heard that JDM reels are "legendary" I might try my first JDM reel, but if you know they can be expensive, I want to know if they are worth it. Let me know! -"This is my pawn shop"
  15. Can someone tell me if this reel (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Abu-Garcia-Revo-STX-Spinning-Reel-REVO2STX10&i=912087) would be a good pair for this rod (http://m.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=St-Croix-Legend-Tournament-Bass-Casting-Rod-610-Medium-Light&i=451547) I really don't have time to check. Anything would be great. Also I'd appreciate any alternate suggestions.
  16. Hey guys, So I'm about to pick up a Daiwa Tatula CT Type R For Squarebills, 6-10 Foot Medium Divers, and Lipless Crankbaits. I'm debating whether to get a 5.5:1 or a 6.3:1. Im also planning on purchasing a 7' Medium Duckett Micro Magic Pro Crankait Rod. Any other rod reccomendations? Any input is aprecciated thanks!
  17. I personally love throwing a senko, they are baits that never fail to produce fish weather they are big or small. My only problem is that I have to through them on a spinning set up because I NEVER feel a bite of any sort, so all the fish i catch are from pretty much accidentally setting the hook when popping it off the bottom. Any tips on feeling the bits so I can throw it on a bait casting set up? I throw the the senko on multiple rigs, but mostly a weightless texas rig ( 5" senko and 5/0 hook) - also i use a medium action rod with 12 lb flurocarbon Thanks ya'll
  18. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I do not know a lot about how reels operate. I have one and really like it, but I want to speed it up and use it for a flipping and pitching reel since it re-engages the spool when you depress the thumb button. The 6.3:1 is decent, but I am curious if it can be increased?
  19. hi, i am 15 years old. i have multiple fishing rods, and two ok fly rods. i caught 4 rainbow trout today. I want to spend around 50 dollars on hooks and tackle for trout. what should i get, what is the best powerboat colors?
  20. Hi, I've been fishing lakes and ponds in southwest idaho for 8 years or so. I am very interested in starting a group dedicated to bass fishing in Idaho. I would love to get to know the Bass Resource staff. I have been watching videos on youtube by Glenn May for over a year. It's a pleasure to be on here officially!
  21. Hello! So I have an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5500 c3 2 speed that I have had since I was younger. When I was younger I did take it apart a few times, so I may have lost a piece or two, but in general the reel works. Except! There are 3 problems with the reel that I would like fixed but I can't figure out what is wrong. I have taken it apart a few times and assembled to spec but it still doesn't perform ideally. First, the over-spin problem. If I spin the handle quickly while the reel is engaged, the spool will spin like normal. But if I suddenly stop cranking the handle, then the reel will continue to spin for half a second and make a clicking noise, as if the spool is spinning over the "clutch" that engages/disengages when you turn the handle/push the button. Second, the dog-tooth gear works fine, but the play in the handle is still a little more significant than I would like. Is there anything I can do about that? And lastly, the 2 speed shifting doesn't appear to be working anymore. Is there a more detailed explanation on how it works somewhere online? I would love to learn how the mechanics of it work coming from someone who knows more than me about it! Any response will help, and I'll do what I can to answer any questions that would help lead to the answer! Thank you!
  22. Hey all, I need some recommendations for basic pier fishing gear. I need to catch shark bait, because I'm taking some friends of the family out shark fishing. I'm gonna be fishing at night probably, and hopefully sitting on the pier all day. Probably start pier fishing in the morning. Basically I need a list of stuff to catch a lot of fish from the pier. I'm hoping to get a mix of: Whiting Mullet Skipjack/Ladyfish Bluefish Spanish Mackerel Sand Trout Sheepshead Pompano Hardhead (Catfish) Cownose Ray Stingray Possibly mixed in would be fish like blue runners, guitarfish, electric rays, eels, and/or piggy perch. Thanks in advance guys

  24. I read this rod review and am going to buy a new scott tidal but don't know weather to get an 7 weight or and 8 weight? Anyone have any thoughts? Really new to fishing for bass with a fly rod having mostly just been a trout guy for the past 15 years. Thanks!
  25. Just recently moved down near Jacksonville, more specifically Sawgrass near Ponte Vedra beach. I was hoping someone could help me out by letting me know of any spots near my area, and what gear I should be using. I've tried fishing a couple different retention ponds inside Sawgrass using everything from jointed lures to plastic worms with no luck whatsoever the past two days. Any help would be much appreciated!
