  1. I was in the market for a high quality Ultra Light spinning rod for stream bass, finesse bass and panfishing with light stuff. I don't like most Ultra Lights because the actions seem too soft for me so I took a chance on a Major Craft 642 2 piece Corzza. I bought it on Ebay for $135 shipped. This rod gets an A+ from me. It has an XF action with a nice amount of backbone, beautiful cork and a nice sold handle, and tangle free Fuji guides. The manufacturing is really nice, great finishing and well put together. It's line rating is 3-7lb and 6'4" which is right up my alley. I'm glad I took the chance it's exactly what I was looking for. It's no noodle rod, so it casts accurately and is very sensitive. Does anyone else have experience with Major Craft rods? I'm thinking of getting a medium action now.
  2. While I'm interested in hearing about your ideal setups, what I'm really looking for (something I can't seem to find) is some type of chart or list that details each rod with their actions, and the techniques that should be applied. Ex: Heavy Fast Rod works best for Frogging but can also be great for ______. Heavy Moderate..... ...and so forth and so on. Reason being, I have several new rods that I'd like to obviously use properly as well as assure myself that any future additions will be necessary--efficiency. ***Thanks for your input.
  3. So, I've got a few rods that I'm looking to pair with the best possible baitcaster possible (obviously subjective when discussing brands). That said, wanted to get an idea as to how I should choose the right reel to match a specific rod. Example, I have G.Loomis MBR844c Heavy Fast... how do I choose the proper reel? I assume that it can withstand a greater fight than my MBR782c Medium Fast that I paired with a Chronarch 200e7. So once again I'm trying to figure out what real peers with each specific flex from Med to Extra Heavy. Thanks!
  4. Shakespeare Ugly Stik 6'6" Ultra Light 2 Piece Rod Okuma Ceymar C30 Spinning Reel What are your thoughts on the above combo? What type of fish would you be fishing for with a 6'6" ultra light rod sporting a Ceymar C30? I was thinking about using the setup for micro-fishing, with Frog Hair 7x Tippet and some size 24 hooks. Unless the rod and reel would be best suited for another type of fishing (along with different line/hooks)... Thoughts?
  5. I live in North Georgia and I was looking to get into some trout fishing this spring and summer. I am looking at getting an UL spinning rod but do not know the length I should buy, I would fish the hooch as well as some smaller streams. Also need recommendations on a reel and pretty much everything else I would need.
  6. Greetings! I am brand spanking new to the sport. I inherited some fishing equipment and am unsure just what to use it for. I have a Shimano Sellus ultra light rod with a pflueger trion spinning reel and an Abu Garcia Vengeance medium rod with a pflueger president spinning reel. Both 6'6". Just beginner stuff I think. The tackle box that came with them is filled with this type of bait: (1) floating and countdown rapalas size 01, 03, and 05, (2) rattling rapala 04, (3) in line spinners, hum dingers, spoons, kast masters 1/4oz and under, (4) various bait hooks (5) 1/32 jigs with plastic grubs, and (5) several bags of 2" plastic shad and 4" roboworms. There are also containers of firebait in various colors. So, I checked YouTube and think these are for trout, bluegill, crappie, smallmouth bass, perch, and similar types of fish. I also think I may be needing a medium light rod and not the ultra light I recieved? One salesman at a local store said the UL is perfect and another said to get a ML. I'm a little confused. Also both rods have p-line fluroclear 8 & 6 lb test that was in the box. I think I'd like to try drop shot, some wacky rigging, and Texas rigging too. I saw it on the videos. Too ambitious? Am I on the right track with what I've got? Sorry if that's too much or not the right info. It's my first forum post. Thanks for any help.
