I am the only one fishing my pond of about 6 acres. The pond is spring fed and has been there for at least 10 years. I just started fishing it 2 yrs ago. I have caught one 6 lb'er and the rest are from 1-2 lbs. My question is: When a pond is hardly fished, do the 2 lb'ers grow into the big-uns or do the bigger fish kill off the smaller fish . I do know there are brem in the pond and a few catfish. Why after 2 years have I only been able to catch only one big bass?

You probably have to take out some of the smaller bass. You can learn any thing about managing ponds here.

I would be really surprised if it isnt extremely overpopulated. If it wont upset whoever owns it, you would prob do well to keep most every bass under 3 pounds you catch for a good while. I've never checked out pondboss.com, going to right now. I do know that there are some articles here on BR that go over the topic too.

I think that a pond with no fishing pressure will tend to go toward a balance. However it depends if you like that balance. A pond can be managed for big bass or big bluegill but it's hard to get both. Head over to pondboss.com and you'll get a lot of good advice.
