Initial Boat Fees For Pa

Featured Replies

Can anyway help me out with this? I am going to be purchasing a boat and trailer from a guy in MD. I have looked all over the web and can't find out exactly what fees I am going to be hit with after the initial purchase. I know I need insurance, and have to take the boating license course. What am I looking at to get the title and registration for the trailer? and same for the boat? Thank you for any info you can provide.

Before any money changes hands, be sure to see the title for the boat, trailer, and possibly the motor. Be sure all is in order and that the title is clear. No lienholders.

Try this site for the boat.

For the trailer try the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Department of Motor Vehicles, or the Department of Transportation, whatever the department is named that registers cars, trucks and trailers.

Talk to your local licensing agent. When buying used, it might be a requirement that the seller transfers everything in the presence of a licensing agent. I know I had to when I bought a boat used years ago from a private seller. Better to be safe.

Call a local Notary they will have the info.
