What The Heck???

Featured Replies

Caught the biggest fish of my life today.........a carp.......with a lipless crank bait.......by the tail..........aprox 32" long....which equals about 18-20 lbs

Couldn't land it all the way because I was standing on a ledge, so I reached out with my pliers to unhook my lure from its tail......longest fight I have ever had with a fish....wow!

That's a big fish! I fish for carp a lot and usually catch them that size, but when you hook them by the tail, that must have been some fight. Was it a grass carp or a common?

I've both caught a lot and foul-hooked a lot of carp. And, as Mad Fisherman mentioned, they seem to fight harder when hooked in the tail.

my wife has a nack for doing that probably the only person in the world who can foul hook a carp with a 1/2 football jig in there tail. Shes done it twice in one outing I have pics on the camera back home of her freaking out 9months prego with our first son rod dang near bent in half drag screaming with a 30lb carp on the other end trying to get into the current. She would kill me if i ever put them pics of her on here she was like week over due and out fishing she looked about ready to pop. Me I could roll a crank bait right over em and never foul hook one im not gonna lie I used to try to do it when I was younger just to catch one I could never do it to save my life.

Thats a big carp man Ihave about 3 to 4 of them in my backyard I haven't been able to catch one, never really tried though. I just always see them by the shore eating tadpoles, frogs, bugs, grass, whatever they eat and half their body is out of the water.

wow dude thats a nice catch even thou you tail hooked the fish. ive never caught a carp before.

It was ridiculous, I thought I was snagged on some nearby wooden structure ( I was bass fishing ), then....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....my line went crazy, my drag was not set very tight obviously and it went ALL THE WAY OUT. I had just put new line on, so about 115 yds out. I had to battle like a deep see fisherman to get it in, and it wasn't until it was about 20 feet out that I knew it was probably a carp, thought it could have been a big catfish, maybe a HUGE wiper or even somehow I snagged a beaver....but it was just a huge carp.....had a blast bringing it in. These are the times I wish I had a hat cam to record my fishing hijinx. I have now accidentally snagged a carp, blue gill and channel cat.

Yep they fight good!! Caught this one somehow on a plastic worm????????? My boat is 42 inch bottom and it stretched pretty much from one side to the other. Over 40lbs. As high as my scale goes! Nearly broke the net trying to lift it into the boat.
