In the summer?

I usually wear gym shoes when I go fishing. It would be nice to wear sandals or go barefoot when its real hot out, but I don't want to take the chance of stepping on a hook or something like that. This is especially true when fishing from shore. I don't trust others to pick up their rusty hooks.

When on the boat its gym shoes or sandals. Occasionally in the heat of summer its barefoot.

When bank fishing in early spring/spring when the days are still cool and there's wet and muddy conditions. I like a light pair of hiking boots(gortex).

Summer its sandals or ventilated wading shoes.

Summer boots for the ponds, sandles for the

boat. Never barefoot or thongs. Solid soles,

traction and some support.

Usually barefoot but if I have been on a boat more than a couple days straight I have some mesh Nike Shox that are amazing.

90% boots, even in summer.  Tennis shoes occasionally.

Bro it makes me physically sick to admit this, but I wear Crocs on shore and on my friends boat.  I used to make fun of these ugly things until I got sick of getting my hoops shoes dirty when I wore them fishing.

You can put them on and take them off faster and easier than any shoe, you can get them muddy and dirty and disgusting, and hose them off in 30 seconds and they look like new.

To get that extra 10 yards others wont on their casts from shore, I'll walk in the water up to my knees and make casts to cover others can't get to.  To do this, you have to have a shoe that can go under water and be completely fine.  Crocs fit the bill.

You can also buy Fake Crocs that are way less money.  Go hit a Target department store or some other place that sells immitations.

Ok, I'm going to go a little overboard on this post. 

A while back I spoke to my podiatrist, asking him what would be the best for multiple day tourneys as well as some of the trade shows that I attend for work.  He recommended Saucony or NewBalance for the boat with a good insole.  He said if you just have to wear sandles, go with something like Chaco's.  For the trade shows, move the insoles from the tennis shoes  to the dress shoes.  The main reason he recommended those brands was for the harder sole and the ability to have a tighter fit.  It helps to keep proper circulation flow in your feet and legs, reducing some fatigue.  He also recommended an antifatigue mat (Lowes for $10) to put under the carpet at the tradeshow booth as well as under the carpet on the boat.

I'm about 50/50 tennis shoes/sandals. The tennis shoes get demoted from good, everyday shoes, then down to fishin' shoes, and last stop, lawn mowing, weed trimming shoes. The rest of the time it's sandals. I've got a pair of Nike sandals and the first time I wore them my buddies started calling me "Moses", so now they're known as my "Air Moses" sandals.

When on my boat I prefer a Speedo swim suit and hip boots.

Hate to say it, too.....................crocks.  They are the most comfortable shoes I've worn.  Don't get the fake ones, they hold odors bad and wear out quick.

Do you find that strange ? When you're fishing in the boonies from the bank , you probably wouldn't want to go bare-foot or even have low cut tennis shoes . Where do you fish ?

Bare feet are great in the summer, until you step on a DD crank.  I stuck my big toe with a #2 treble.   Now its nothing but running shoes for me while on deck.  (I always have 50 rods scattered on my front deck, ha.)

Also recently saw a segment with Dave Wolack.  Who is a certified trainer.  He said always wear running shoes for support for long days on the water.

Thats why I always wear shoes when fishing. I've had a trebble hook in foot before, it isn't fun.

In the kayak as well. Makes it much easier to find decent spot on the bank when nature calls. 

Barefoot all the way, but usually I am fishing on a boat.  Wouldn't do barefoot if I was bank fishing.  Yeah, its probably not the safest or most supportive for your feet, but man, isn't great to be barefoot out in the warmth?  Now, if I'm fishing whenever its too cold to go barefoot, it feels so clunky and awkward fishin in shoes.   

why aren't flip flops in the mix?

People trip on them, they provide no arch support and offer no protection for your feet.

Flip flops are for drinking beside the pool.
