Curado Vs Citica

Featured Replies

So, if I spend the additional $30 on the curado, is it worth it? Is the difference in performance noticeable?

Thanks!

I'd get the Shimano...

Take that Gambler, for once,I'll agree with you.

This one is very easy in my mind. I would not even consider the Citica if I could afford the Curado. It is an awesome reel. I don't have the citica to compare performance differences, but I am sure there is noticeable improvements in the Curado. It is that nice of a reel and can be had for a very reasonable price.

What do you intend to use the reel for and on what rod?

Go get the Curado, well worth the $30. Its got the crankshaft bearing, and the brake star is metal, also some other small differences. Its just built better. Both are great, but the Curado is better.

Unless you can't afford the curado or can find the citica at a huge discount, spend the extra money and get the curado. I have both, like both, but like my curado more.

I passed on the ugly green. I got the Citica and added the bearing. A bud gave me the Curado. Both perform very well and I honestly can't tell the difference. Both are g series.

I have the Citica e series and added the crank bearing. I like this almost as much as my Chronarch e. Sorry I don't have the e series Curado, But I assume it is very close to my Chronarch e.

Chronarch e is the best shimano I own.

Shimano has a cool feature on their site where you can compare models side by side for specs and features. There are enough subtle differences to justify the price difference but performance wise you'll catch just as many fish with either one. It only really matters if the extra $ is worth it to YOU.

I own both but I have more Citicas than Curados. Mainly because the Citica in my mind is just a better overall value. It performs really close to the Curado but I will admit the Curado is just a bit more refine. The biggest noticable jump in refinement is going from either of these reels to the Chronarch. The Chronach just blows those two reels out of the water in refinement and performance. If your going to spend the money to go from the Citica to a Curado you may as well save up an extra $40 to get the Chronarch instead.

Tackle Tour gave the Citica G a pretty good review.

I have a Curado G and two Citica E's. I know it's apples to oranges, but I would pick the Curado. It does cast slightly farther but mostly due to the fact it casts lighter baits better. Especially since you can pick up the Curado G on "the auction site" for about what you'd pay retail for the Citica.

If it's for moving baits, the Curado may offer more refinement, but for contact baits the Citica is a good value.
