Interesting Rod Replacement Question

Featured Replies

Say i was going to buy the older shimano cumara rod right now, if i was fishing and it happened to break anytime in the near future would i get the exact replacement or the new 2013 rod ?

Random question, just curious...

Assuming the store you take it to has cleared out all of the former stock, you would get the new version. This happened to me right after the new Crucials were released (I got the new model).

Good question, my bro just got me the 7'2 a few weeks back. I hope it would be new model since it is an over counter warranty system.

I sent a broken Crucial (the older style with the full-cork grip) to Shimano. They sent me a close replacement of the same rod (6'6" medium heavy, fast action), but in the newer model 6'8" MH but with the newer split grip foam handle. Received it last week. I shipped it to them at my cost and didn't hear a thing until the new rod showed up at my door. I think it was 8-9 days from the time I shipped it to them to the time I had a no questions asked, cost-free replacement.

You would be rewarded a better rod pending there were none left to replace. I hope there's no abusal of this.

It leaves one to wonder how they would replace a cumulus breakage.... :/

Thanks for the info everyone. I was thinking the same thing because im looking at the cumulus rod as well. TW pretty much sold out of the older cumaras, i really want the 6'8 mh spinning worm rod and i cant find one, not even on ebay... A few online dealers have them at full price though.

Oh well thanks for the help.

Yeah they are getting harder to find. I am in the search for a spinning 6'8'' mxf cumara and cannot find one under full retail $219.99. Which I am not going to pay.
