Coming To Tx

Hello everyone. I'm coming to Tx in the middle of May to fish Sam Rayburn for a week. I was wondering if you can direct me to or give me some info on some decent spots to fish. I'm not asking for your secret hole or anything like that just trying to make sure I'm going to have a good time while I'm there. Which obviously I will cause I'll be on a boat in Tx fishing but it's always better if you're catching them. Also what are some promising baits to bring with me? I can only fit so much in a carry on bag so I gotta pick wisely.  It'd also be cool to meet some forum members that are on here and fishing with them if anyone would be interested in that. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Can't help you about Rayburn, as I usually fish Lake o the Pines when I'm south of the Red.

What I'm curious about is can you bring lures in your carry-on now? When I fished Australia last year, everything had to be checked.

from what I've found on the TSA website tackle is okay as carry on.

I'd say you're good to go then.  TSA can be pretty finicky, tho.  They can be a pain dealing with them cause they like to find loopholes in their own rules and leave the same rules open to interpretation.

Yeah I've read that. Some people said it wasn't a problem as carry on and others said they had to check them. I'll probably just pack it all in my main bag and pray it doesn't get lost in transit.

That's what I do.  Find out what your weight limit is and just check the reels and tackle.   I always travel pretty light so I usually have extra room in my duffle.  I've never lost a bag...knock on wood...and I fly at least 3 times a year to fish or bowhunt.  Make sure you put a tag on your bag with your contact info too.

I suggest using jigs and rage tail trailer. Fish the grass.  Also try a rattle trap or whatever you prefer, this time concentrate on the grass lines. Also suggest bringing your favorite frog. Back of coves even in the summer.  But Jigs will get you your better fish. I suggest you get your best grass jigs. I prefer Oldham's grass jig, it was designed for that lake. Have fun and good luck.
