Budget Spinning Rod?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I need a new rod for my spinning reel. I am looking for something under $50, to be used mainly for lighter lures. I need it to be good for most techniques because I can't afford different rods for each technique. I fish from shore if that helps any. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

You can get a berkley shock from walmart for 40 new and it is rated from 1/8 lure weight

I use this rod and it is a decent rod for the money.

Check Craigslist......whenever I'm looking, I always see a lot of spinning rods for sale. Casting rods not so much, but spinning rods as the day is long

Abu Garcia @ walmart rocks. I use it for tournaments i liked it so much.

Try to find a used Powell Diesel!

Abu Garcia Vengeance is in that price range. Decent, but feel a little stiff for their rating.

Another vote for the Lightning Rod Shock's. I fish them right alongside my St Croix Mojo's, Avid's , and L.T.'s and am pretty impressed with them for what they are.

You can get a Powell Diesel at www.thefishranger.com for $49.99 brand new. Lightning Rod Shock is a good choice, but I'd go with a Diesel.

What ever you buy don't buy it on line unless you get free shipping.  The additional shipping expense used at a local store may buy just a bit better rod.
