Doug Hannon deserves being recognized for his contributions to our sport of bass fishing, his dedication to improving proper bass handling to reduce stress and increase survival rates and by educating anglers to use proper livewell management. Doug Hannon believed he could make a difference and improve our sport through design and innovation. His sharing his passion for trophy bass inspired generations of bass anglers.

My prayers go out to the Hannon family.

That is just a shame! And from what I am reading, I am interested to know exactly what happened but I dont think this forum is the place to do so.

R.I.P Doug. You contributed and will continue to contribute to Bass fishing for a long time.

With the passing of Jose and Doug, God must be planning a tremendous fishing trip.

Don't forget Uncle Homer recently passed as well.

Sad news indeed. I enjoyed his books and contribution to the sport. RIP.

Ahhhh geeez :( Doug Hannon was an amazing guy ! The guy really did know "how fish think".

To this day, I often remember (and day dream) about a story that Doug use to tell, of arriving at a body of water, in Florida, in the 60's, that had "never" been fished before. He talked of throwing out a big top water plug, in the middle of an open clearing, and as soon as it hit, he could see huge wakes start cutting straight towards his lure, from 3 different sides of the clearing.... all three wakes being a huge bass, racing to get to his lure first !  :) How cool is that ?

The guy lived an awesome life !

RIP Doug Hannon.

Oh man.  This is the first I have heard of this.  R.I.P Doug.

No way, unbelievable! I been following his stuff since a kid. Caught many big FL bass on his topwater snake lure. Sad day, R.I.P DH.

Sorry to hear about his passing, he was a great resource to the bass fishing community.  I use to read his books as a kid and also daydreamed about his fishing exploits.

Very sad news indeed... My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and coworkers.

I recall watching his shows where he would wear what I thought was a strange looking hat; very similar to the Tilly that I wear now.

IMHO, he was the first Big Bass Hunter.

R.I.P. Doug.  Thank you for your technical contributions to our sport, your knowledge, and your entertaining media.

OMG...I don't know what to say.  Definitely one of the Grandmasters.  Grew up watching and reading him.
