Creek Suckers

Recommended Posts

My friend and I went to our local creek to bottom fish and relax. We caught a few smallies and Rock Bass but all we kept seeing were creek suckers. They were everyone in the creek, searching the bottom of the creek constantly. If anyone has expierence with these, can you give me tips on how to catch them? Thank you.

The guys I know that fish for them use some form a bread bait, like a dough ball or something. They also troll for them to cover more area but I'm sure fishing from the bank would work the same way.

Nightcrawlers on a small hook and slip sinker rig is what I catch mine on. They fight really well on light gear. Sometimes it's tough to get the nightcrawlers past the drum, cats, and bluegills though. If you can find river worms along the bank they'll really eat those things even better.

here in northern Wisconsin we call it redhorse grabbing. In the night you lay on the rocks and look for them hiding behind them and try to grab them right behind the gills.. Crazy fun friday night..
