Does anyone own either one of these rods? Casting or spinning? Also, what do you think of them? Would you recommend them? Thanks for the input.

The Rage rods are built on the same blanks as the Avid line which are very good rods. Grip material and foreign labor help lower the price point a little bit. Some will argue the Mexican plant has lower QC standards but I haven't seen it. It's still a St Croix product which is among the best you can get.

I have the 7'1 MH casting and the 6'10" ML/XF. I like them both a lot. Light and sensitive and I'm really liking the grip the more I use them. The MH I have has a lot of backbone. I use it for flipping and punching believe it or not.

I picked up 3 of them when they had the whole buy 2 get one free deal going on.  I have fished them well over 50 days this season and i have absolutely no complaints. 

 

I wasn't sure how i was going to like the neoprene handles but i actually really like them now.  The micro guides, haven't noticed a difference one way or another.  They are definitely lighter and more sensitive and better balanced than the Mojo series i was replacing.

 

All in all a very good rod and i would not hesitate to buy another one.

I have a 7'1" M casting model. I got it from the promotion they had when you buy 2 SC and get a Rage. IMO it's not as sensitive as a rod at that price should be. I'm also not a huge fan of the handle but its OK. It's not a bad rod overall but I'd rather pay another $20 and get an Avid.

I like them. Some of the first ones had crooked guides and reel seats that came unglued but lately they all seem to be good sticks.

I got the 7'1 MH/F when they ran the promotion last winter. It took some getting used to, but I like it.  I took it out of the rotation for a while when the cottonwood "fuzz" was blowing around up here. Cottonwood and micro guides do not get along, it's also a rod I run straight braid on, the fluoro to braid leader knot drove me nuts with those guides. I don't find the reel seat/grip to be as comfortable as the Fuji ECS seats, but I like it a whole lot better than the Fuji SK2 seats. I have not found St Croixs claim of the handle getting "tacky" when wet to be true, It seemed to be no different than cork. Maybe just a freak thing, as it's never happened to me before, since, or with any other rod I have ever owned, but one day in the rain a fish jerked the rod right out of my hands on a hookset. I got it back, because I was only in 3 feet of water, but it made me question the whole "tacky when wet" thing.

My main frogging rod is a 7'11 H casting rod. I have had for two seasons and I like it. It does its job well. Has a good back bone and fairly light. The only thing, if I have to be picky about it is the micro guides. When I am into my frogging sometimes the line raps around the tip and it drives me nuts.

I had my mine set on a rage last week. I love both of my mojos.

After looking at it in the store, I really wasn't impressed with the handle. I would have pulled the trigger if it was cork. The handle just felt cheap IMO.

Picked up a crucial and love it.

Got mine last week. 7' MH. Still haven't had it fishing yet, but I was astounded at how nice and light it felt. Of all the new gear I got it's the thing I'm most excited to use. Have it paired up with a Lew's Tournament MG.

That may be true however on the Rage as you get to the top it gets pretty thin, I find the wraps to me more excessive. I do not get the same wraps on other outfits with braid.

I had one, it's gone, made of the same material as the Avid, W/ different components, 5 year warranty, and Mexican Labor,,,,I'll gladly give 30 bucks more for an Avid, better components,,,,,,,,,,lifetime warranty,,,,,,,,MADE IN THE USA!!!! JMP
