Get some Moderators and Have a chat room. Sometimes you can get a faster response this way. What do you guys think??

I've seen several forums with a chat feature - usually a "shoutbox" at the bottom of the screen.  It's aptly named, since it always deteriorates to arguments.  It's way too difficult to moderate as well.

Many chat rooms breed hot debates that easily run into arguments, personal attacks and language not suitable for everyone, that's the way chatrooms are.  I don't feel BR is a conducive arena for a chatroom.

Chatrooms don't seem to work well with too much moderation. 

If this site had a chat room I wouldn't get anything done at work.

IMO chat rooms don't work like people expect for the reasons already stated above. This forum has very good response rates in general. That is good enough for me.

You can always start your own chat room of sorts via the private messaging feature.  The only downside is that it is limited, I think to five participants.

 

On the other hand, it's not moderated, and only the participants have access.

Fishing chat rooms can be cool but not if they are moderated.  Anyone could start a free Bass Resource chat room on Yuku, getting the word out here wouldn't be allowed though.

Not to mention the trademark infringement.

I PM several members back and forth on here all the time as well as having several phone numbers of other members to help each other out with figuring out a lake, sharing where a hot bite is, or filling an empty backseat when I have one.

 

IMO, if you want to talk to someone outside of posting on the boards than send them a PM or get their phone number and give them a call or text. Any of the fishing chat rooms I've ever seen are just stomping grounds for trolls it seems.

Trolls..... thays why this is only site i really write on.. youtube is fulled,with them and,dont,even bother talking about a vid i just message the guy whobposted the vid. I think pm, texting , calls is your,best bet

Great post. I know to stay out of it. Just recently in a thread about rods and China tried not to get too political. I generally do and will not. I’m not in tune with politics real well admittedly. Please don’t boot me. I like you guys too much to care how you swing politically. 

Chat rooms will never happen here.  Thought that was apparent after 25 years. LOL
