New Baits To Try Out

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I don't know if there is already a thread on this as I checked but couldn't find anything. Anyway, I started bass fishing about a year and a half ago, and I have all the basic lures. However, I have been interested in finding different, new, and reliable lures, both hard baits and soft plastics to check out.

Thanks

If you want a general idea of what is popular and what works take a good look on the TW website at the 'best sellers" section. It features a wide range of hard and soft baits at different price points.

SK 1.5 squarebill. Spring through summer. Throw it at the bank and cover water. You will find fish.

Carolina rig with 3/4 oz weight, 1/0 ewg and 4" french fry. Keeps the bait on the bottom where you want it

Thanks for the feedback, however I probably should have clarified this better at the beginning. I am looking more for unusual baits to try out as in my time of fishing I have learned a ton and have a good idea on reliable lures.

If you want something unusual, get an Arbogast Sputterbuzz.

I've only tried it a couple of times and put it back in the tackle box.  It is difficult to cast into the wind.

Try throwing some Frenzy Vibes.  Try making your own blade baits.  Try throwing buzz baits with a trailer frog/fluke instead of a skirt.  Try the double fluke rig.  Try split shotting floating plastics.  Try throwing mouse patterns at night.  Try throwing huge swimbaits.

I caught my biggest bss of the season a few years ago on one.  I quit using it because of the poor casting qualities.

One bait I've yet to see mentioned on this site is a JiggingRap. Though mainly used for ice fishing these things will catch bass in just about any situation, but shine when used as a drop shot alternative.  If you think a tube has great action on the fall, you gotta see one of these in action.  The come in sizes from 1/8 to 7/8oz.

For topwater action, give the Crazy Crawler a shot.  Not too many guys use 'em and the action is totaly different from a JitterBug.

I love the double fluke aka "donkey rig"!

Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad

Cast and let the lure sink to the bottom.

Holding your rod at about 10:00, reel up

quickly, then allow the lure to fall on slack

line. Repeat until you feel you are "out of

the zone".

DO NOT pump the rod, that simply moves

the bait forward.
