Megabass Suspending Hook Upgrade Question...

Recommended Posts

Would you upgrade the hooks on a Megabass suspending jerkbait?

Aaron would say yes on the 110 floater...

But then I watched this video:

Not so sure if I should or not now on a suspending jerk, concerned with changing the action for the worse.

I have two Megabass jerk baits.

(1) Megabass Vision 110 Squarebill in the GG. Gill color Class=Floating...

(1) Ito Shiner in the GG. Perch color Class=Suspending...

Not sure if you can tell, but on my floater, the hooks have been upgraded.

On my suspending, the jury is still out.

What would you do? :)

The hooks that come on Megabass baits are really good, I don't change them until I absolutely have to.  When I do, use the same hooks that come stock.  You have to be really careful changing out hooks on any suspending jerkbait though, it's too easy to screw up the suspending qualities of the bait.

I use the Katsuage hooks and if they get bent I replace them with the same hook.

I set my drag loose enough it slips a little on hook set.

Some of them have a barbless middle hook, I replace those with the same #6 Katsuage hook with barbs.

Couldn't have said it any better myself! No need to swap megabass hooks unless it's necessary.
