I'm wondering what type of line to get for my spinning rod and reel. Haven't bought them yet, but it will be  pflueger president 6930 and a 6'6 medium-fast rod. I'll be primarily fishing wacky worms, but will also throw small 1/4 oz. spinnerbaits, cranks and jerkbaits. What type of line and lb. test would be best for primarily wacky fishing but also the others? Thanks so much for any help!

After doing some research, I'm leaning towards 20 or 30 lb. braid with a 8lb. fluoro leader when fishing wacky

I use straight 6 lb fluoro on my wacky setup

If you are going straight Wacky, no need for that heavy of Braid, but it wont hurt much either (i would go no more than 20). We are not penetrating any plastic to get that hook set. I fish all my spinning setups with braid mainlines but a  6-8lbs Fluoro main would work fine too. If you like a braid mainline I would highly recommend a 10-14lbs Nanofil or Power Pro. I really like Nanofil because of how well it handles. Also, just like Power Pro it will last you all season.

Yes Straight fluoro would be ideal, but as I'll be fishing any lure to small for my baitcaster with it as well, I'd like braid as my main line. Here in Minnesota, I fish some pretty heavy cover(the thickest stuff I can find.

Wacky....20# Power Pro with 10# Floro leader (spinning reel)

Spinner bait....12# Yo Zuri (Baitcasting reel)

Cranks....15# Floro, but soon to be 12# Yo Zuri also (Baitcasting reel)

Well if your fishing the thickest cover you can find wacky rigged senkos, cranks, jerk bait etc. Probably won't be a good choice to fish in that type of cover.

Answering the original post using a spinning reel for senkos cranks and jerks. Use a lighter line. And if you have to use braid . 10lb is more that enough with a light fluro leader

I meant for the wacky worms, and most of the time I'll try to hit the edge of the cover, but as I'm 14 losing any lure is big to me. Thats why I tend to prefer braid. I'm thinking 20# braid with a flouro leader when fishing wacky worms, I know its not ideal for cranks and jerks, but it what I'm confident and comfortable with.

15lb Braid with a 6-10lb leader if necessary.  Gives you a lot of flexibility depending on what you are trying to do with the combo.

This....braid on a spinning reel is great.  Will never use any other type of line on a spinning reel.

I looked up the Yo-Zuri Hybrid, looks like really nice line. Would you guys reccomend using that excusively or using it as a leader?(keep in mind I'll be fishing some cranks as well and they sure love to snag)
