Lunkerville Tv Show

Featured Replies

Does anybody watch the Lunkerville TV program?  I've come to enjoy it.  Although I don't really care to see any more Mountain Dew contest winners on that show, it is a fun show to watch.  It is refreshing to see someone on TV who is not pushing fishing lures/boats/motors down the viewers throat and is more interesting in simply getting people out and enjoying the great outdoors.

Lunkerville is fishing entertainment on a different level ...Generally if I watch a fishing show - I want to learn about a technique and specific lures , line , tackle , etc.  to apply to that technique . A number of fishing shows are just about catching fish ...

I dvr just about every daytime fishing show that comes on NBCSN, Fox Sports, and Destination America so that I can watch fishing shows in the evening (because I am too cheap to pay for an additional sports package to get the outdoor channel or wfn). Lunkerville is one of my favorites. It is way too easy to forget that you can still catch plenty of fish without having the newest and most expensive of gear and electronics.

Very enjoyable show. Yea the Mountain Dew winner was pretty lame but all of the other shows were good. Would love to see Mike D come up to this end of CT and do a show.

Lol I thought the Mountain Dew show was hilarious. 6-7 liters a day? lol well done Mike D

Good show. The Mountian Dew winner was fine he just did'nt fish much but seemed to have fun on the show. I would have a blast taking Mike D. Out for some fat bottomed girls.

Never heard of it. :rolleyes7:

Yeah you have,

and you've heard of LBH too

More seriously, we really enjoyed your smallmouth bass episode

Roger

Mike's the best and real fishing people like Fisher Mom and Cletus make bass fishing "real" again. That's boats without more add ons than my boat cost, parents passing on the love of fishing to kids and real, everyday situations. I'm sick of watching Pros who don't seem to fish any better than my friends, telling me that I'm throwing the wrong stuff the wrong way. Ok I'm biased. JMHO

I now keep a hook sharpener in my bag, out of guilt  . :shhhhh:

I had the privilege to meet Mike D and see how he works and his approach to producing a show when he came to Washington State on Banks Lake and he is a class act!! Even had a meal with him and his cameraman!! like watching every show he puts out!

i was hoping to make the road trip this year, but again work got in the way.... next year i'm coming!!

we started shooting our new season recently, so look for all new episodes this fall on WFN, NBCSN, PBS and Lunkerville.com.

and check out Lunkerville Late Night, our new webisode series at Lunkerville.com and YouTube... also "Lunkerville Classic" is currently airing on WFN... these are shows from 10 years ago.

ok, that's the end of my self-serving plug... fish on!

The Cletus was the best, and keep up the good work Mikey.

I know id love to take Mike out on my boat...nobody ever films in PA...well ok they do on Erie lol

The show is well made and while not promoting fishing products, it does tend to promote local places to fish; which isn't a bad thing. I just prefer watching fishing shows if they teach me something. For entertainment, I'll watch the Walking Dead. :respect-059:

I agree with most of what you say. It's nice to see a show that doesn't go to the boat motor "money shot" in the first fifteen seconds of the program.  The program seems more about getting out in the outdoors and enjoying it more than anything, and that is a good thing.

I did watch that "Cletus" episode and thought fishing at a fish feeder was just a little too much and rather distasteful.

It wasn't about the fishing it was about Cletus Maximus... that dude is out there. Cracked me up.

But...........If you had a pond with a fish feeder in it....................might be hard to stay away from............maybe just one cast........

I think what I love about Lunkerville so much is its an antidote to the professionalization of our hobby -- whether it's online fora or TV shows which have convinced us to replace our one year old $280 reels with the brand new $300 reels....because yo getting serious about fishing means you have to drop $700 on a combo. I cast no stones, I'm as guilty as anyone else.

Fishing is like that Lunkerville Classic set of episodes that aired a few weeks back with the guys in New York state that were sitting in shacks on a frozen lake and busting each other's cojones, having a good time and drinking a few beers. Reminds me of the old days before fishing got so serious.

Ive learned more from Lunkerville than I ever could from 'serious' fishing shows like fishing university or zona the gang banger.

Exactly.

I love Lunkerville. Aside from this show, the only other show I watch is MLF.

I saw a fishing show this weekend on TV and all it was is 2 guys catching bass plugging their sponsors and the gear they were using then back to catching fish. Literally watched them catch fish for the entire show. They would edit to the hooks sets and it got old quick.
