tcbass 457 Report post Posted April 13, 2014 I just ordered a Cabelas Tournament ZX topwater/jerk bait which is 6'9". After I bought I thought it might be too short. I have a 6'6" casting rod and I feel it's too short. It definitely doesn't cast as far as my 7' Mojo Bass. I also ordered a 7' Cabelas ZX spinning rod. I'm wondering if I ordered my bait casting rod too short since it's 6'9" and not 7'. I know that it's only a few inches but I definitely don't like the short comings of the 6'6" bait casting rod's casting distance. So what are the shortest bait casting and spinning rods you use? OkobojiEagle 915 Report post Posted April 13, 2014 6' 6" for me. I prefer comparing the WRL (working rod length)... the length between the rod tip and the center of the reel's foot. I have a 6' 9" rod that has a WRL the same length as my 7' rods. oe

Prefer 7' or longer, but I have some 6'9" and 6'10" rods that I like a lot. Use to consider 6' long 50 years ago.
