Fishing Craw Baits

Featured Replies

From what I've heard from a lot of guys, these seem to be one if the most versatile baits around. Any suggestions as the best way to fish them in lakes with little to no cover. Considering trying with a football jig or a Carolina rig.

Texas or Rage Rig! ;)

A craw on a jig is ideal.

But as Catt said T rig or the Rage rig are great.

Cant speak about one on a Carolina rig.

Sounds like you'll be doing alot of dragging... i'd vote for a football jig or even a shaky head.  You want something that will send those pincers up when you pause the retrieve.  T-rig would be second choice.  Not a fan of craws on a C-rig - they tend to glide lackadaisically behind the weight and it looks unnatural IMO.

That's what I thought too in terms of fishing a Carolina rig in open conditions. awkward and not normal for the craw to float a foot above the bottom. any suggestions on a good craw, I've heard the Berkley chigger craw is a good bait but they don't last more than 3 or 4 fish before you're using a new one.

That's pretty much the norm, in my experience... but if you've caught 3 or 4 fish on it, then you happily stick on another! :)

I'm partial to the Berkley craws, alot of folks on here like the Rage craws.

Jika rig,T rig,football jig,weighted swim hook,and  you can try the c-rig!

Allllllllright ! No need for me to rewrite what was already written, Rage Craws are ideal for tail weighted rig or nose hooked rig.

if there is minimal cover, then you need to cover water, so either a football jig or a set up like the biffle bug and hard head should be ideal...
